How to make Tagelharpa!

- So I found out about this instrument and really wanted one. Me being me, I didn't want to buy it so I decided to make one! This is a pretty long video, I know, but I tried to cover all the bases needed if you wanted to try this on your own. I've never played one of these, nor have I ever played any bowed instrument and that's apparent at the end. Sit back, relax, pour a glass of mead, and enjoy my trials and tribulations! Note: Were I to make another one of these I would definitely NOT use pine, I would spend the extra money and use something better. Perhaps mahogany or maple.
The important thing about that soundpost is that you can put any strings on it and torque on them without caving in your top. This is good for experimentation when your learning the feel of strings and tension.
If you put a round edge bevel on an xacto knife it makes a good tool for those soundholes.
Thanks for posting all these steps. Excellent video.
Thank you! I didn’t find many videos on how to make one so hopefully I’ve helped someone
This was awesome n loved the detail as well! Ill be making one of these soon so this is really helpful! Id like too see a update video on how playing it is going !
Привет. Ты сделал тальхарпу?
Nice work, but a few things: The inside(walls and back) needs to be thinner, like 5 mm,not 1-1,5 cm like yours is?
- A spruce bass bar and a round spruce soundpost(not glued),like in a violin or a cello,helps with weight
support and sound resonance
- You probably have found out that by now and the bow was only temporary since it looks heavy.....
Its a learning process when building something for the first time, believe me,i know....
Good effort, thanks for sharing it. 🎶🌈😎
You forgot the rosin that's why it doesn't sound consistent.
Impressive!!! I still want to see your tomahawk.
Really interesting build, nice to follow along you are using cello strings , do you have any more specific information on what kind of cello strings you are using? I have been having a difficult time finding any way to replace my strings
Bravo 👍🏻
nice job
can you tell us which strings did you use?
I'm curious as to how you secured the bridge! It looks so thin, so I wonder how you keep it from caving one way or the other.
I know I'm a little late to reply but he probably did it with the tension of the strings. That's how it's done with other bow instruments.
Can I get a good copy of your design?
Please help me! Sadly, the string leg (bridge) is cracked along its lenght on my own tagelharpa. ☹️ Can you help me where I can order spare parts (new bridge)? I don't know anyone who can make them. ☹️
