Prime example of a game being judge based on its predecessor rather than what the new developers set to achieve. While flawed in some ways the game shines with its exploration. The environmental puzzle solving and interaction are leagues above the original game.
the value of the mission structure is replay, allowing you to just replay a single mission and having a star to go along eith it is great in my opinion, it also allows the mansions to evolve with time and meant you where only able to get certain gems at certain points, it would be perfect if after completion you got access to the whole mansion at once, but not having that makes the mansions more mysterious early on
What I really liked about dark moon was its focus on puzzles and the gem and boo collection quests. The original only had the most basic of puzzles like lighting candles with your fire energy and such but dark moon, and especially the Twisted Mansion, sometimes felt like Zelda dungeons. I also really liked how much better the combat worked for me. On the other hand I think the ghosts of the first game were better overall. I was always very annoyed by the ceiling ghosts but the ghosts in dark moon don't feel threatening at all (except for the first time you see the mummy, but even that turns out to just be a greenie). Still, it is not as bad as in the third game (where the ghosts really no longer feel like proper ghosts at all, more like imps or something like that, just look at what they do on the disco floor). I think combining what made both games so good, the controls and puzzles of the sequel and the atmosphere, the ghost and the story design of the original would make a truly great game.
I can understand the confusion with the chimney behind the tree, but Luigi got the D rank house, you can tell because the visible chimney is on the left side and the F rank house has one chimney on the right side and instead of just the front door, there’s the three windows surrounding it. Luigi didn’t fail, Jeff just didn’t look hard enough.
personally I never really liked this game. The pacing felt really slow and the bosses were pretty bad. But I will admit it did have its moments like the Scarescraper and King Boo's fight.
I disagree, Dark Moon is my favorite LM game, LM1 is a close second and 3 is the weakest to me, and I think all the ghosts in Dark Moon have more personality than the ones in the original LM

Yeah, combining the benefits of both games would be ideal. I agree 3 was a bit of a letdown in hindsight but I thought it was fine enough.
I love all 3 LM games, personally. They're all different, but also good.
The correct answer
The trilogy of perfection

This entire game is just uncovering more and more as to why E. Gadd should enter retirement

I will never understand why they didn’t just call the game Luigis Mansion 2: The Dark Moon
And now they’re dropping the subtitle for the Switch port and calling it “2” across all regions…
@@Kardino i miss the subtitle

NO! THIS IS STILL MY FAVORITE LUIGIS MANSION TO THIS DAY!
How does this have less than 1k views dude you deserve a million subs
Thank you!
Never played the game, but this was an interesting essay!
Thank you! If you have a 3DS lying around I’d say it’s worth giving it a shot!
10:01 PURPLE GUY?!?!?
ive always played the scarescraper with my cousins because my 3ds came with luigis mansion 2
Such a great mode!

Coincidence is that I started playing LMDM today after over 6 years of not playing it from start to finish!
Hope you enjoy it! It might be one of my favorite 3DS games!

This game's scarescraper is the best part. Way better than 3's
I agree! I actually never played much of 3’s but I remember 8 players feeling like way too much.
Want a video on the third chapter
Definitely in the plans

Fair enough. Different strokes for different folks
On its own it’s good, but as a sequel to the original it’s not quite what people wanted.
If anything, they absolutely killed it on the online port
Agreed!
No first game has better atmosphere and music
90 hours? Ohhhh no . . . I have over 400.
Wow, impressive!
bro i had 5000 hours. i really loved the game.
Did you leave that on overnight or smth? Thats like two thirds of a year
@@notchris4764 i wish. when i was like 6 or 7 i play this game every single day that i got on for
I liked it
I really mean no offense but the guy you brought on legit just sounds like he hates the game
That might have been a scripting issue. I don’t think he hates it, he just doesn’t think much of it as a sequel.
Dark moon was trash. Mansion 3 was good.
Nintendo disagrees
@Kardino what are the odds. Wonder if they'll give mansion 1 on switch as well.
