  • The anti roll bar or sway bar bush, as it is also called, is simply a piece of rubber that holds the bar in place. Over time this will wear our so if you hear a knocking from the front or rear of the car it could be that the bushes need replacing.

Great series, really helpful step-by-step approach to your how-to segments. A lot like the older Edd China how-to stuff, but even more detail.

Thanks for the high praise Ian. Edd China was a big inspiration to me so it's kind to be compared to him.

What torque do the rear bolts need to be? Also are the bush sizes different on the various 986 models? Thanks!

I think I’m gonna tackle the back ones first as they see easy ...now can you tell me how long did it take for the back ones ? Greetings from Los Angeles

Great video - very helpful - specifically re the threadlock, from what I read, some threadlock material can only be removed by heating the bolt, whuch troubles me a little. Can I ask how you would go about removing your bolts again after you’ve applied the threadlock? And is it really necessary to use threadlock on these bolts?

Hi, wonderful channel and videos! On your video the front anti-roll bar bushes are between the bar you slide and the frame beam.....but on my Cayman S 987 GEN1 the are actually over the beam and on top of it there is a think bracket....this makes things more complicated but the job can be done without removing the lower tray. Which car in shown in this video?

+TheItalianBrick Thanks for such a kind comment. So glad you like the channel. The car shown is a 2001 Boxster S 986.

To replace the rear bushings, are you required to jack the car up? Or can you elevate the car with a ramp? Thanks.

No need, there's plenty of access at the rear.

Just wasn't sure if this job required taking tension off of the sway bar. I recently changed my rear droplinks and ran into trouble because I did not jack up both sides of the Boxster.
