I’m the second person to like this comment!
keep up the good work i love this show so much..................
Bro im from south America if i come to your shop do i get anything
Let me call up a buddy who knows all about History channel
good day sir philippine andrew-e have a lot of collection old comic book chech it him andrew-e collection comic book special spider man and error comic book collection
On this episode of “Let me give my buddy a call.”
Well the show obviously isn't about "the most knowledgeable people"
Hilarious! Its a sensitive topic..
yes, that's how the store/show works.... were you surprised it happened again?
Rick forgot to mention the... "he lives right around the corner."
Or the "My buddy has no sensitive evidence of the value except google"..
Rick: Let me call a buddy of mine to examine this Thor comic book.
*Chris Hemsworth walks in.
I LOVED him as Thor in the movie!! It was great!
@@mshappyapple8663 yes, he really potrays the character well
@@mshappyapple8663 I like Chris Hemsworth not only because he plays in the movie, but because he is trying to inspire a lot of people to be healthy, he has his own app you can download.
Yes, maybe he is interested on that comic book 100k is easy for Chris Hemsworth
His Instagram is stevesaysboom. Your welcome
Makes me sad that they didn’t know Jack Kirby he’s just as important as Stan Lee
Right....surprised they are so stupid.
Carl Barks is another important one.
The vacuum cleaner guy?
What about steve diktko?
No he’s not LOL
whenever Rick says "sweet" after purchasing something you know he just screwed the seller.
it's a pawn shop everyone gets screwed don't go to one unless you are willing to take a fraction of your items value
well the comic book had been restored so therefore it loses value
Absolutely correct 👍
@@justinedwards5021 I thought the blue header means it hasn't been restored (restored comics have a purple header?).
Honestly, it wasn't that bad. You probably wouldn't get that much on ebay, and it you would have to pay some fees and such so you're not really losing that much money. She did okay.
40k is an insult to the first edition of Thor comic book community.
It’s actually higher than the most recent sales. Plus that’s cash. I say she did pretty good
It is an insult to the pez community as well🤣🤣🤣
It is not thor #1 though , it is thor appearing some where .
@@MalaysiaBarista its better than thor #1. Its his first appearance.
@@MalaysiaBarista That would make it his second appearance in Thor #1. This is his very first appearance ever.
Me: "I have Mjolnir."
Rick: " Without being worthy i cannot sell it."
Best I can do is 2 Infinity Stones, and I'm taking a huge risk here. I have to frame it...
Pay me rent!
Rick: "Let me give my buddy a call. He's a random guy who definitely knows what these retail for. "
What an awesome book. He's right about "white pages", that's so rare for such an old comic book.
I had a whole bunch of white comics
For real, less than 10% of Journey Into Mystery #83 copies are graded with white pages, most are off-white, even down to cream colored or tan. Very nice book.
One of my favourite shows. I'd be crazy if I didn't admit that these guys are enviable.
30k to 40K just like that, pretty sure she could have got another 3-5k out of Rick
That would fetch three of those amercan stratocasters that i am currently dreaming of buying in my humble life.
$40,000 was more than enough. She was lucky that she got such a huge amount of money for a comic book.
It’s staged lol are you like 9?
@@mikixP the show is staged with some scenes that are scripted but did you know the deals on the show are actually real? There was a wavier on the history channel that provided information that you can check if it’s still on there, the decisions that sellers are doing is all on them to either accept or refused. The history channel aren’t making you do a performances on their own personal item that you are still trying to do business. Accept, refused, pawn, trade its all on them to decide
An 8.5 is going 84000 now. And this one has White Pages, so it's in really good shape for a comic from the early 60s.
"I have a guy who knows everything about Marvel Comics"
*Thanos walks in*
" i have a guy knows everything about Marvel"
Gate of heaven open
STAN Lee:" hey guys whats up?"
🤣😂🤣
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT LOL
“So what can you tell me about this thor comic?”
Thanos: “Strength and energy are the same despite its title or claim, Asgardian. Your supposed heavenly status impresses Thanos of Titan not in the least.”
*"I am inevitable!" (Snaps. Rick and Corey disintegrate.)*
An 8.5 Thor is worth a TON of money right now. She honestly should have held on to it until now with the hype of the 4th Thor movie coming out in the summer. Even a year ago when this was filmed, I would have been over the moon to have this issue in my comic collection.
She messed up. Probably today it would have got over $120.000 She should have waited. If I had that comic book , it would have insurance on it. And be in a bank vault.
I missed a chance to buy TWO of these in mint condition, for $20 each, at a thrift store in Tampa!
@@duckduckens4164 These are impossible to find, if you saw 2 especially in mint condition I’m 99.99% sure they were either fakes or reprints
Got $40000 for a 12cent investment, you cry with one eye.
Rick: “Let me give a call to Rebecca. She knows nothing about comic books but I just thought we can take a good look at her!”
😂😂😂😂
lets call rebecca and check her out
Thirsty simp
Can’t argue with this logic.
lmao
I had this one when I was a 13 year old kid in 1969. Bought it and a bunch of similarly valuable marvel comics at a yard sale near Laguna Beach California. I sold them in 1975 for next to nothing. One of the great regrets in my life!
I know what you mean. I had a massive collection of comics that I sold 25 years ago 😳. I received good money for them but they are worth Hundreds of thousands today. I had the first issues of many Marvel's
Not your fault. Nobody can see the future.
Could have made millons.
Growing up in the 90's, a shoe store in my town sold some comics, they had Iron man #1 for $50. Wish I bought it but that was a good money to me in the 90's though.
you mean of course you missed bitcoins..
Now she can buy all the cigarettes she wants

I've heard of smoker's cough but smoker's voice is a bit new.
Don't forget the botox she's going to cover her face in plastic surgeries heehe
nice to assume, isnt it?
Or she could pay for the therapy. 😀
She could easily have sold that 8.5 graded issue for $80-100K.... even with seller fees included, she lost a good $20-30K by selling it at a pawn shop smh...
Where do you people get these figures from?!
An NM 9.4 CGC grade (NM - Near Mint) sold for 144K USD.
A CGC 8.0 sold for 25K USD.
She had an 8.5 (granted with White Pages) and she got 40K USD cash?!
If you look at historic sales for White Page grade comics they don't always sell for more.
An 8.5 White Pages is never gonna get anywhere close to a Near Mint 9+.
Seeing as an 8.0 only sold for 25K an 80-100K USD estimate is way off the mark?!
It's a television show....
The $60k price that he quoted was spot on. An 8.5 last sale price was $75k on April 2021. It’s a shame she sold it for $40k.
@@LU3MC2003 This episode was 3 years ago and the market for big Silver Age key comics has gone nuts since 2020.
Why don’t u go and buy it for 60k then you will make loads of money .
"Where did you get it?"
"From my brother, who worked with Marvel."
"Cool"
Me: "Who was her brother, working for Marvel? "
He didn't know who Jack Kirby is. Literally any name in the industry would have meant nothing to him.
Her brother was Kevin Feige
@@imlost2748 You are joking, right? LOL 🙃
When she said $100,000, I knew it wasn’t gonna go well for her 😂
Rick: best I can do is a half a carton of Marlboro reds
Seller: deal!
🤣
Probably would've been ok with 3 Newport cigs lmao
😂🤣😅😆😄
There's something so satisfying when some of the stuff these people bring in is actually worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Jack Kirby deserves way more credit than he gets. He created most of those Marvel characters, not Stan Lee.
"Rest of the money, I'm just going to go travel!"
COVID: *hold my beer*
note: don’t sell things to pawn shops
That comic was from his buddy’s store. They pulled the lady from the line out front to film this real quick.
Agree in full. Anybody with any sense knows you don't get top dollar selling anything to a pawn shop. What you get is immediate cash and much less hassle.
Would have probably done much better on eBay
Corrie shaking his head because he knows she could have just gone to that guys store.
Would he have paid more that 40k?

That’s my uncle loads of people say he does it’s so funny
When I was about eight, my Dad worked for Drakes Cakes in Boston. He would bring Marvel Comic Books home. We, my brothers and I, had never seen or read anything like that before. The artwork and storyline was compelling. Jack Kirby’s artwork was bold and exciting. The story of Thor appealed to me for many different reasons. Dr. Donald Blake was a thin, frail man with a serious limp, when he found this stick that he tried to use to support his lame leg with.. He struck the stick on the ground and it turned into the hammer of Thor. That’s what I remember about the story lo these many years ago.
That's Under Takers step brother. He was going to be called Over Giver but didn't make the cut for WWE.
Thanks for the dad joke homie

I'm sure she could have asked for a couple more thousands, negociation ended too quickly.
I would have to be in deep financial trouble to let this book go for $40,000.
Wonderful to see The Undertaker getting work after retiring from the WWE.
“The book comes with a tombstone piledriver.”
What’s in the urn? Percival Pringle? Paul Bearer?

LOLL YES. He starts off high and wide then brings it in.
I sold my issue of that that book for 80 dollars in 1979,it was in “fair” condition but it had two holes punched into the cover.Dang!!!
Rick has to frame the frame and it cost 20000 dollars.

Let me call a buddy of mine:

Rick offered 40k,
He didn't want to insult the GOD Community! 😬😬😬
I thought $40k was a decent price. Maybe she could have squeezed $42k out of Rick, but that would have been it. He only very rarely pays over 70% the retail price.
Rick : Let me call a buddy of mine to evaluate it.
Next : The Undertaker arrives.
She should've kept it. Imagine the price in another 20 years.
Could be nothing honestly. Newer generations lose interest in these types of things.
she might not be alive in 20 years, and if she was alive then she'd certainly be too old and frail to enjoy the money. Take the money now and go travelling.

It rather this is just fake which it is or they did it to get a better deal
They just call buddy and let them know what they're looking at, he tells them the actual values, and then proceeds to lower what it's worth so the guys at the pawn shop get a score on something worth twice that!

Corey with another right hook of a handshake
“I don’t know about the other two, I just know Stan Lee” it’s a shame honestly. Stan did a lot obviously, but Jack Kirby was right by him helping set up characters, and Steve ditko was the original artist for Spider-Man
Stan stole a lot of thunder over the years. Kirby died much earlier and Ditko became a recluse. But they are just as important imho.
"The rest of the money im just going to go travel" travel to the closes gas station for some new port shorts
I've always hated Corey's handshake 🤣😅
I was reading the comments and you should never sell a key comic book. If you want anywhere near market value, you never ever ever ever ever ever ever take it to a pawnshop.. to be honest, you should not take a book like this to a comic book store because they most likely will screw you over unless they want it for their personal collection. Then they might pay you market value..
Wait till the "brother" sees this video and discovers where his stolen comic went
"35$ and a crack pipe is the best I can do for you, lotta risk in this one!"
