Overall, this was pretty impressive, especially for a fan film. As a devoted Zelda enthusiast, I feel like you guys are going in the right direction with this. My only gripe is that the costume needs a little work. Other than that, fantastic job. I really hope to see more of this kind of stuff in the future.
Jaydon Walker I for one am offended by feminists trying to change something out of their league, feminism has gone beyond supporting feminism and just blatantly shuns the act of being feminine, and plus Nintendo would cancel that shit before it ever airs if they do cast a woman as Link.
Wow, this is very well done, and I really enjoyed it! Best Zelda film I've seen. Bravo! I would love to see more like this. Great acting and stunts too!
Im loving these Zelda Ocarina of Time fan films. There has got to be a film company out there to create a film on Ocarina of Time. In fact you guys are really great film makings, the production of this short film is amazing, you should try to contact the developers to ask permission to create a film.
Glad you dug it! Thanks for the compliment - it means a lot. Reaching out to Nintendo was something we explored when making the film, but several of the people involved in this project don't work together anymore as we've moved on to different things. As much as I'd love to do a longer-form Zelda film - a lot of it comes down to budget. We had one single day to shoot this on the location because it's all we could afford as indie filmmakers. We had a small budget for this being backed by a start-up as part of a bigger project, but I worked essentially for free as director and editor (part time for three months) - and the VFX team were new, younger students and recent grads who were trying to do something cool and worked for far less money than they should have. But as I've progressed in my career, I really have trouble asking people to work for free or less money than they deserve. So until someone can give us a ton of money... it's truthfully unlikely. So we're focusing on other original projects... would love for you to check out some of the other films on the channel - and I have two more being released online soon in the next few weeks!
This is awesome. Only thoughts would be that the timing of some of the shots needs to be a little more sped ad up. for example, the shots of Link need to be faster or speed up by 80% in places. the pacing seems slow. also, the compositing is good, but ground shadows for the Skultulas would add a lot, as well as a bump pass and specular, passes all combined in After Effects/Nuke.
Zelda fans in 2024: "A live action Zelda movie?! What a stupid idea! Zelda can't work in live action!" This and every other Zelda fan film made over the years: "Hold my beer." Seriously, the fans have made some incredible works over the years, and this one stands as a testament that Link specifically *can* work in live action. The actor looked like Link, moved like Link, and even fought left handed! Not to mention the costume design. The color choice for the tunic was perfect, and I noticed there were subtle symbols on certain parts of it (like the Goron mark on his boots). It just felt storied and worn, as it should. Honestly, if the official Zelda film has a team that actually cares about bringing Zelda to life, I think they can do it. And fan films like this one are my proof.
Subscribed. I'm keeping an eye on this. I love it way too much lol I really hope you're planning on a full length movie, with this Link and at least that good of CGI or better. Coz everything about this short clip screams ZELDA MOVIE DONE RIGHT =)
This trailer is the best I have seen save the IGN April Fools joke. I Will watch when the full thing is finished. the thing I like is you don't seem to be openly copying Ocarina of Time. As a result, its much easier for me to keep an open mind. almost all the others I have seen have been OOT Knockoffs and I've rathered played the original game then seek them out. this one, however, I feel differently about. The Brown tunic though, I gotta say as burgandy as it is, I would claim that its the Goron Tunic if this were OOT. I can accept that. ^^ Bravo, one of a select few trailers to earn repeated rewatches at different times. You have won the internet
A few things, the part where he sliced the Skulltalla (or however it's spelled) in half is invalid. You can only defeat them by hitting them in the back, and his stunts are way too slow
DUDE!!!! HA HA HA!!! HIS TUNIC IS BROWN!!!!!???? WHAT THE HECK!!!!????? I find that quite funny! but the dang thing won't load, so I cant watch it very well....
graphics were decent, casting was okay, and the stunts werent bad. It was obviously poorly written, and poorly directed. There was no discernible plot to speak of, or at least that was obvious till the very end when it is revealed he is going after a chest. I did like that the skulletula were animated to move lazily, though i feel that could have been achieved just as well with a more lifelike movement (but i wasnt expecting that kind of expertise from a low, if any, budget film). The cinematography was actually pretty good (though a noticeable distance from professional) and over all, it just wasnt dynamic. keep up the practice and try again with a better shield, better writer, and better directer, and possibly make the fights seem more realistic and less planned out, and i think you guys might have some actual potential.
I could, I just need a team. Doing it alone would take training, and money...Id like to do it without spending any more than I already have on equipment, I can't do many stunts, and I don't have the wardrobe. I would also need to find a decent location.
impressive. i know the pain of a 1 day restriction on shooting location. it really sucks. Not totally sure how much rehearsing was behind it, but my previous statements about improvement on performance and writing still stand. it does not discredit the hard work put into the film though. some of my hardest work went into some of my worst work in multiple forms of art. but that is what low budget and critics are for. these are elements designed for practice and feedback ultimately contributing toward the improvement of the product. once again, keep up the good work, and i hope to see improved work in the future.
This ain't a trailer, this is a scene. And a well performed one at that.
Background score is well made.
Very well done fan-film, great job! Thanks for keeping the Legend of Zelda alive and relevant!
Best one out of ALL of the fan films as of 2021. Hands down.
I was expecting him to open it and find a rupee. then that stupid message comes up saying:
"But your wallet is full, so lets put this one back..."
Me to xD
True
Overall, this was pretty impressive, especially for a fan film. As a devoted Zelda enthusiast, I feel like you guys are going in the right direction with this. My only gripe is that the costume needs a little work.
Other than that, fantastic job. I really hope to see more of this kind of stuff in the future.
Parkour/ Freerunner Link ..... I like it :)
Dang. This looks like it could actually be good. Can't wait.
Got cancelled ;-;
This is amazing, I really loved it!
Why is this not a movie. I would watch this. Love it. 💖💖💖💖
Well done guys! Fun stuff! I especially loved all the CG.
This was amazing, I can't wait to see the full movie!
It's been cancelled ;-;
D:
Amazing, love the skulltula design!!!
really REALLY good made! absolutely perfekt Special effects. i was very surprised AND we hope for more!
This is amazing
Great work. Really enjoyed this and felt it captured the spirit of the zelda series well. Keep it up!
First time Link doesn't look unnatural. Hair, Outfit and his moves. Really well made.
This video was the coolest thing I've ever seen
Great work!!
3:18 nice helm-splitter, lol
You should go for the Link part in the Netflix series!!! You're a great Link!
Thanks! I don't have any connections to get into the audition room yet but I'm trying!
QuigFilms i think you mean LINK part! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH... puns.
Well his hopes may be crushed once he learns there's a chance that feminists may have their way with the show, they want Link to be a girl.
Well if that's the case I will do my best to change their minds! I guess we will just have to wait and see
Jaydon Walker I for one am offended by feminists trying to change something out of their league, feminism has gone beyond supporting feminism and just blatantly shuns the act of being feminine, and plus Nintendo would cancel that shit before it ever airs if they do cast a woman as Link.
This is so cool!
what an amazing person.
Loooks amaaaazzzing!!! Could u plzzz tell me were u got the sword from? or who made it? Cant wait!!! :D
Omg, iam totally in love with u!
HI LINK YOU ARE AMAZING HAVE YOU SEEN THE SUN GO DARK AND THEN YOU SEE A SHINING RING WHERE THE SUN WAS AND THE IT GETS COLD AND DARK?
Wow, this is very well done, and I really enjoyed it! Best Zelda film I've seen. Bravo! I would love to see more like this. Great acting and stunts too!
Very nice job on the stunts!
AMAZING !
If I have to imagine what Link might look like in live action, I imagine him exactly like this.
he makes a pretty good Link.
Where did you get your Master Sword? Did it come with a scabbard? And how did you make the one Link used in this?
why do the links in these never look like link? bahaha
Coulda gone with green fer Link's outfit.
Yes. Definitely
Awesome video man

Would love to see some more live action films, ever thought about The Legend Of Dragoon?
This is awesome. Only thoughts would be that the timing of some of the shots needs to be a little more sped ad up. for example, the shots of Link need to be faster or speed up by 80% in places. the pacing seems slow. also, the compositing is good, but ground shadows for the Skultulas would add a lot, as well as a bump pass and specular, passes all combined in After Effects/Nuke.

Is this going to be a full thing because I need this in my life
Were did you guys film this and how your you able to do those cool stunts?
Guelph, Ontario Canada!
And the stunts are all courtesy of our incredibly talented actor Jaydon Walker!
+Microbin Films I could've sworn you guys shot this in Rockwood park Ontario! I've been to this location many times! Great choice!
I love the brown link
Subscribed. I'm keeping an eye on this. I love it way too much lol I really hope you're planning on a full length movie, with this Link and at least that good of CGI or better. Coz everything about this short clip screams ZELDA MOVIE DONE RIGHT =)
Why is Link wearing a brown tunic? Shouldn't it be green?
I was wondering the same thing
My art professor, Mr. Crawford, (who designed the costume) said because of the light it was brown, but in reality, It was evergreen
green tunic...GREEEEN TUNIC GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN.
Link sees a giant spider and he decides to f*ing kick it, I see a tiny little spider and I´m already running away like I´m the freaking Flash

this looks interesting one of the best fan fic trailers iv ever seen for LOZ series when is the full movie due?
Never, it got cancelled :,(
+Evan Steckly awwww no bloody shame looked awesome
+Daniel Cope Yeah...
Evan Steckly I sincerely hope they can make a minni series from this or a movie to see such talent wasted would truly be a travesty
I was so hoping it was like 5 rupees in the chest
same
My ONLY question; Why did you chose not to make his tunic green?
I mean i dont think it ruins anything, this is all awesome... but why?
Is this canceled? If not I can't wait!
A few things, the part where he sliced the Skulltalla (or however it's spelled) in half is invalid. You can only defeat them by hitting them in the back, and his stunts are way too slow
Why Link is wearing brown not green ?
+Guilherme Viana maybe brown seemed more realistic
why are links clothes brown?
Why are his clothes brown and not green?
why brown suit? its suppose to be green and kaky pants
Cool. But these fan made videos needs more lore stuff... like heart plants.
You gotta make the costume more green, make sure the actor doesn't fidget.
Good thing Link isn't arachnophobic😁
Why do the Skulltulas look so cute....?
y is his tunic brown
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🖤🖤 total damage
Okay why can we not get a movie based on a game that would work (sonic is coming so one down) like Zenda mega man X and so on
link does not talk
wat the freak Link doesn't have a brown tunic it's always a GREEN tunic!
Are you actually going to make more? Or is this it? :)
They were GOING to, nintendo cancelled it though...
or ya know
it could be a green tunic
Things I remember from this trailer: Dude got shoes
Things I dont remember from this Trailer: any connection to Legend of Zelda
is this an actual fan film or is this just a trailer with no movie to it?
I have to give you som3 cr3dit on this it does look amazing
Why is Link wearing brown
... Why did it have to be spiders?
Please be a real zelda movie.
Why is his tunic brown and that's not how you kill a skultula and how can this even be a trailer if anything it's more like a legend of Zelda short
DUDE!!!! HA HA HA!!! HIS TUNIC IS BROWN!!!!!???? WHAT THE HECK!!!!????? I find that quite funny! but the dang thing won't load, so I cant watch it very well....
Holy crap please tell me this is real
It was supposed to be, but Nintendo cancelled it...
Am I the only one who thinks there was a blue rupee inside the chest?
Link is f##king smart!
I know the guy that wrote this
Oh sry no chest ur wallet is full no more thing for you m8

Dude knows what he's talking about
id like to see you do better
I could, I just need a team. Doing it alone would take training, and money...Id like to do it without spending any more than I already have on equipment, I can't do many stunts, and I don't have the wardrobe. I would also need to find a decent location.
+Joshua Bjork This was all shot in 1 day btw... The crew really worked hard as well.

This reminds me off power rangers lol
you guys could count this as a short
Nope, he's wearing brown.
The acting is weak, and the parkour forced. And how the hell do you get the tunic color wrong? It's green, not brown!!
see Nintendo? it CAN be done. stop lolligagging around and make this happen already
I cant believe you people are actually ok with this. Stop.
Pls pin me 📌 📍
This was so cringe worthy.
meh, there are a lot better versions than this one, a bit too cringe worthy for my liking.
this was so boring....
I love the brown link
