- Hey there!
In this video I blabber about feeling like a failure in drawing, and that you're a terrible artist after making a couple ugly sketches. I know, sounds exaggerated but that's how I felt. I talk about what might cause that feeling and how to face it. Never avoid it! To learn new things, you have to head-butt them first! I'm no expert, so I only talk about my own experiences, but if it can help someone feel at least a little bit better, I'm good B) I've been through that feeling many many times, and just because I don't talk about it a lot, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen at least once a week for me :,) I wish this video was a "trust the process" type video, but it isn't.. Sorry, but today I bring you wonky splotchy sketches! Enjoy!

Gosh, I totally relate to EVERYTHING you just say. It's like, the hardest thing to fight against, to stop just thinking all the stuff and actually draw. It's horrible when you realice that you completly forgot to JUST draw and don't spend all the time trying to "fix" the drawings.

sometimes as artists we forget that sketchbooks are not meant to be perfect but regardless we have this pressure to make them perfect so its okay if you mess up! i loved the whole process of it, i know you said you didnt like the ending of it but overall i think its okay and it happens! the mix of pencil with watercolor is always so beautiful when you do it and motivates me more to work in such way!!! always the best waes~

When the first time I watched this video, I didn’t listen to Milkywaes, because english is not my native language. And my reaction was like:
"Ooooh, that's not good. No, you better not do it, if you try to fix it, it will only get worse. NOT A MARKER! АААА!!!"
When I watch the video for the second time I have listened carefully to what the author says and it changed absolutely everything.
I understand you so well. Thank you for the video and for sharing your worries. You are right, it's okay to feel frustrated and make mistakes we learn from.
I feel bad but I started laughing when you got out the ink and just kept putting it on 😂,, Girl the pencilwork was beautiful!! Sometimes you just have to stop yourself before it's too late haha. I do the same thing sometimes though. Regardless I think all your drawings are and were amazing and I love your art style!
ppersonally i liked the inkwork but yea i r=can relate when i lose a good effect i made earlier coz i m trying new things and a lot of times I don't even have pictures of it :'D
@@bossbabypaints I agree, it was pretty nice with the ink too so she's being too harsh on herself, I just think the instant regret like "Why would I do that omg" is so funny 😂😭; all successes and mistakes are worth keeping though

Same. But I did love the soft pencils though and I use ink a lot for sketching and linear.

I definitely know what you mean on creating a script, at first I thought it was silly because I thought it'd just come to me naturally when I film but honestly it's really easy for me to get caught up on wording things and explanations lol (I forget I don't talk nearly as much in a day compared to when I film). I think it's nice to have an in between, like little guideline phrases or sentences to lead your points in the video, that way it's not too unorganized but not too strict or abnormal sounding! Also I've definitely been there with the failure thing, it's happened way too much lately T^T but I just try to remind myself that even moments like this causes growth, and the more I draw the less I'll feel worried about failures because they're only temporary! plus omg ur drawings look so cute what do you meaaannnn!!!

honestly your pencil shadings aren't that bad, they just made your colors a bit muddy so I hope you use colored pencils next time 😊

I think if you used a purple/red/pink (based on how warm or cool you want the shading to be) pencil instead of a normal grey one the results would’ve been better. I still think it’s really pretty though!! It’s obvious you’re still extremely skilled when looking at these drawings!!

if you dont mind me asking, how do you just sketch and fill up the sketchbook like that?
Im not waes lol, but I draw too. What I do is just open up Pinterest and scroll down, when I find a photo that I like, I draw it, if it doesn't work out, I find another photo. In that way I can fill up the page and not get stuck on just one drawing. Although I cant lie I do get stuck erasing and redoing sometimes too, but I have been forcing myself to stop. A tip I saw on the net was to draw with pens, so that you cant erase it. But the big thing really is to not get hung up on a bad drawing, accept the failure, observe and learn from your mistakes and do better next time. And if keeping up the practice is your issue, a good thing to do is give yourself goals, like draw everyday, start small, and when you get used to it you'll be finishing pages daily. Also keep your sketchbook close to you, so that when you feel like drawing, you wont have an excuse not to. I hope this makes sensee.

I'm new with watercolor.. with colors in general..
I was thinking if starting with only 3 main colors will make me better at understanding the colors combinations ?? or should I just go with all the colors I have?
I think you should start with red/magenta, yellow, blue/cyan and work from there try to avoid white except for the white of the paper and maybe have a darker blue/purple instead of black but honestly just do what you feel comfortable with and work from there
@@Vampyrjellyfish idk .. the whole thing feels uncomfortable .. but I guess I will start with the basics first
starting with a few colors is a great idea! it helps you practice mixing and makes the drawing look more cohesive! I recomend you don't use yellow+red+blue at first to help relive the pressure of making brown (seriously mixing brown sucks)

@@blackisanxious7178 yeah because specifically brown is nasty to blend but it is good practice non the less, I'd say just leave that combo for a bit later but you can do what you want

I recently lost my sketchbook and its been really hard to me get over it, my parents took it away from me and I think they burned it ( no I didn't draw anything bad it's a long story) so I didn't had any inspiration to draw anymore because I felt discouraged and that someone would take it away again but your videos inspire me a lot to draw again and remind me how much I love art and how fun it is.

Do what makes you feel coziest!!! The same thing that applies to making your art, applies to your videos! If you're stressing out about it, filming them won't be as fun and you can lose motivation, etc, etc. So, yes! Stick to scripts if that works for you!!
