- The wait is (soon) over as the Darkest Hour Development Team announces update 1.1.
The update will come with plenty of new and interesting mechanics, extended focus trees, continuous focuses, reworks of whole countries, rework of map, difficulty settings, naval designer and post-war content for both Soviet Union and REDACTED.

When is the update coming?
- Currently we’ve set the expected release date to Spring of 2024.
Why is the update taking so long?
- We are a very small team compared to the size of the mod and scope of our ideas. If you’d like to help out, write us an application #recruitment :).
How much content is coming with 1.1?
- New focus trees for existing nations, new mechanics (on a DLC scale), reworked countries, reworked map, naval designer (only designer), difficulty system, continuous focuses...
What countries are getting new content?
- Find out through upcoming teasers :). Make sure you get the teaser ping role in #info-and-faq to be notified when a new teaser drops!
Will the update include the market and MIOs?
- Curently they are in our dev. builds and have not caused problems so far. We do not have time for our “DH” spinoff of MIOs for now but it is planned. We’ll see.
When and where can we learn more about the upcoming content?
- Through teasers. For now... :)
Is China/CCP/Warlords coming with 1.1?
- No. Next major update, 1.2, is set to be the Chinese update.
Is the update compatible with the latest game version?
- 1.1 is updated to support the latest HoI4 update.
Will the difficulty update affect the mod?
- You will have an option to choose how difficult you want the game to be (very easy to very hard).
Does the update include any alt-history paths?
- Major ones that lead to a change of political party or lead to civil war? No. Minors like Soviet’s invasion of Germany (Operation Groza)? Yes.

Pls make a better operation barbarossa and a ''drang nach osten'' event with more peace deals with the soviets so you can create more rk's. (Btw. if you make peace with the soviets and annexes everything to the urals and then create rk moskowien you still have controll over the urals). And a scriptet peace deal with the allies. Ik this is a big wish but if you will make this this would be the biggest and best mod ever.
I agree that the Axis as whole is weak but tbh its refreshing to see a mod that doesnt make the Germans OP and treats them as "the best"

So instead on finishing up the ww2 and late inter-war era you just go to the cold war? Very odd update to me
It’s not THE Cold War. It’s “WWII is over, but we don’t like the allies”. Both sides had plans to attack each other in the immediate aftermath of WW2, and so we are giving the option to do that (alt-his path). Any other historical Cold War content won’t be incredibly in depth.
The main reason for the soviet's Cold War content is to give player an option to battle with Allies. Of course, we also have a historical cold war path that the player can use to "wrap up" their historical Soviet gameplay. We have PLENTY of 1933 - 1945 new content coming with 1.1. The Soviet's new tree is just yet another addition :). Hope this answers you.
@@darkesthourhoi4 damn thats actually a very nice touch, is there multiple scenarios/outcomes/scripts depending on how comitern-allies war goes? Perhaps white peace happens when soviets take europe but cant invade the uk or us? or is the update aimed to provide just enough scripts so that soviet-allies players can simply go to an all out war against eachother after ww2 ends?

Sorry, but Darkest Hour is only one - the Hoi2 Darkest Hour, sad to say this, but still the best Hoi game even in 2024.

Post-war content? ! The mod hasnt enough pre-war content. Just make more playable minor nations. I dont want to wait until 1.2 to play Chineese warlords.
"Just make more playable minor nations." You do realize that if we had developers who had the knowledge of XYZ country that we'd be working on it? Each of our updates are done strategically. Chinese content can't be done for 1.1 because it's not READY for 1.1.
Not including post-war content for soviet union isn't gonna make developers who work on china work any faster. Besides, post-war content is like 30% of the 1.1 update.
