The thing about the "Fight or be forgotten" line is... Old Aatrox told this to his enemies, New Aatrox tells this to himself. If he stops fighting, he reverts into his prison... In the dark, hungry, unable to breathe, unable to scream... Just a sword, buried and... Forgotten.

I could feel aatrox's pain and anger in his words and tone.

If you think about it, Aatrox is still the most innocent and empathetic of the three main Darkin. Whilst Rhaast relishes in the carnage, and Varus believes it to be righteous, Aatrox knows what he's doing is wrong. He knows that the violence and bloodshed he brings are painful and tragic for all involved and he loathes it, he loathes himself because of it. He clings so desperately to the idea of what he once was, that he believes his only escape is to find peace in death. And even then, he cannot find it for himself, only inflict it on others.

He is also desperate for freedom being released from needing a host. Isn't it so ironic that he fred the atreus from the God by killing the God aka pantheon?
i think painting aatrox's self centered pursuit of genocide in hopes of it killing himself anything but innocent, his self awareness makes him sympathetic but the actions he takes upon the people of runeterra make him a bonified villain to the core.
See that's the thing about him. He was formerly told as the most glorious and chivalrous among the sunborn ascendants of shurima. Now look at him. Rotting. Decaying. And cannot even be called a husk of his former self.

@@hikitani3304 and i m talking about the design, yes, the new one has better lines, but the design and the idea behind him, being the most calculated and the leader of the Darkins, and an elegant swordman was ruined. I personally liked the old wan much more, than this new one. Even the sword was 10 times cooler, the idea to tap into his own health to deal dmg... this one is just a cheap riven copy, with some elements changed.

I cannot believe Aatrox's new VO received so much hate for this beautiful performance, the range from a low sad and tired beast, a regretful once honored god warrior and the wrath and rage of a monstrous abomination, Oldtrox has amazing lines and VO too and some of the more iconic ones where retaken, truly amazing work on this character

There are a lot of reasons:
Old Aatrox felt like a composer of carnage, a maestro of massacres. He talked about how he danced in battle.
New Aatrox sounds like he's sucking on a bag of self pity.
The VA did an amazing job, but Riot didn't understand the assignment. If they wanted a Darkin who hates the concept of war and wishes they would just die, just make a new Darkin!

My headcanon for this is that Aatrox doesnt consider his Body as Himself even though it Is imaged from his past form or he simply doesn't want to be alone anymore
Well... Basicly he is forcing himself to just go on a rampage. He would love to just get back into the moment before he was trapped and before he fought with Void. To the times when he was a Noble Warrior fighting for a Great things. But he can't. He can't even end himself so he forces himself to just end everything as his last hope of geting peace

I used to despise his lore rework when I first heard it. He seemed like an angry teenager hell bent on sounding like a tryhard. Now having an idea of the stories they rewrote for him and the miserable fate he ended up with, I now see the pain and sorrow that echoes thru each line, how tired yet determined he is to find rest. If anything else, I respect his commitment to the role he's been given, unjustly though it may have been. I just hope someone comes and gives him the freedom he long craves, that peace that has long far eluded him.
The way the lore is going, I hope he kills every targonian with the help of his fellow darkin, then assist in the killing of the watchers alongside belveth, lissandra and kaisa, then killing belveth then finally die to Atreus. I think it’s the most fitting thing he can do as they lost their sanity to losing to the void and was trapped into essentially hell by the targonians, and was slashed by the human willpower of Atreus. Obviously I don’t think riot will do this but I think it is the best thing that’ll happen. Also I don’t think he’d willingly fight alongside anyone other than his brethren but they would share a common enemy and they’d take their chance to eliminate those who they wish to.

@@julianyuh3163 thats bad ending. Aatrox is not supposed to lose by a generic plot armor character Atreus. His will is nothing compared to Aatrox. Aatrox can only be free if the void consumes him or Aurelion Sol frees him from curse and clears his mind. And those 2 are impossible to happen. Atreus is a mere mortal with gods powers, he is not known by his combat prowess, his will is what makes him use more celestial power. Aatrox is a corrupted ascended god warrior. He was the champion of Shurima, unbeatable, he won every war except the last Darkin war, slain many other gods and horrors of the void. He killed Pantheon, a celestial god old as Aatrox who hunted remaining Darkins. And you think Atreus can match Aatrox? When he cut off Aatrox arm, Aatrox didnt know Atreus had the gods powers, he in suprise jumped and cut it off. Next time, even with gods powers, he doesnt have the necessary skill to defeat Aatrox. He couldnt defeat even Rhaast or Varus, he was always a loser with strong will, but there is no standing up once you get stabbed by a Darkin weapon.

You really can tell aatrox is the only darkin that isnt just pissed about the imprisonment but what he hates the most is what he has become a vile demonic shadow of his former glory a beacon of hope, justice and pride, when you compare him to Rhaast and Varus its really no comparison aatrox feels like a villan, but a villan you can se yourself in, a villan that has lost everything was betrayed once a paragon og justice and hope and now this cruel monstrosity they turned him into and imprisoned him for thousands of years without being able to breath or see no wonder he is so beyond rage by that betreyal, and even after all that he knows what he does is wrong, but he still does it because there is no other way, he just wants to die, and what he belives for him to die he has to literally destroy all life so his soul can finally pass this mortal plane
One of the most compelling villains in the entirety of League. Just imagine that feeling, as if you're submerged in deep water unable to breath, unable to speak, unable to see, yet you feel EVERY AGONIZING SECOND. A prisoner eternal, bound forever to his curse. Even when all life ends, I'm sure he'll be the last one standing, that's just how miserable his fate truly is.

There is plenty of compilations of Aatrox’s quotes, but so many take his emotions away. This one feels like they are amplified making it surpass all others.
The emphasis put on when he says "I am not YOUR enemy, I am THE enemy" has such a vitriolic feeling to it, you can almost feel it man. One of the most well done champions imo

Him referring to himself in third person is sad, the only person who he can he talk to, understand him and his only companion is himself
I think him talking to himself is actually a result of his internal conflict, where the tattered remnants of his past human life refer to the Darkin momentarily as a separate entity, and the Darkin proceeds to call him by the same name to remind him that they are now one and the same. I could be wrong though.

imagine riot's mmo having aatrox as final raid boss and after you kill him he goes into revive and 4:21 stars playing
Imagine him in his base, Wingless form at first, Using only his first 2 Q swipes and an occasional W that fires 3 chains in a cone
second phase he ups it a little, the first Q now Fires his old E projectile and he now Does a Dash to Allign his 2nd and 3rd Q or to put distance when youre just starting to pile the combo's
W now applies Burn debuff and Heavier slow.
3rd phase he begins to get some Omnivamp, His 1st Q now Has a Larger and faster projectile, 2nd Q is faster, Cleaves a wider area and Heals him, 3rd Q breaks the ground and has a larger Aoe, get too close and You get treated to a Knockup similar to his old Q, His Dash is Also used offensively now like a thrust, he will stab you like his passive empowered Auto which will heal him
Finally, you kill him, Only for him to start Crawling, Shouting his lines, the heart on his sword pulsating, glowing Bright red, He Drives the sword into the ground as he Regenerates, Getting larger and Growing 2 Large Demonic Wings the ground shatters as he takes flight, Shouting for you to Face your Doom
All his attacks now heal him, His Q's all have increased Range and Sweet spots where it would heal him on top of the bonus damage, 1st Q now Launches Massive shockwave instead of the pillar like projectile, His 2nd Q now hits Twice and his 3rd Q Knocks up even higher and Hits like a truck on top of shredding armor
His W is now One massive wave of chains that will now root you in place and Apply Burn and Shred armor
His Dash is Much Faster, The thrust is now replaced with a Sweeping Attack thst cleaves the area in front of him, Dealing Huge Damage and healing him as well as empowering his next attack

I honestly don't know how long I've been listening to this on repeat, it sounds dumb yeah haha, but it's just, the music in the background with the quotes, the meaning behind it, especially after reading and watching videos about his lore hits different... and then that transition from post rework Aatrox, with the ult sound and the short build up to pre-rework Aatrox is just... I don't know, it's so oddly satisfying, yet so sad !

Nowadays aatrox is just not...aatrox for me, the gameplay changed so much but i'm glad the lore is such a masterpiece.
I really love how amidst all the ferocious quotes there is "I offer you victory". Which proves that his "Glorious General" persona is still there and he feels like he is shouting at his soldiers, encouraging them at war as he used to be.

I AM THE WORLD-ENDER!"

Bits of his lore got recently updated or assumingly so with the introduction of Xolaani in LoR. He was the general that led the Ascended to fight against the Void of course he lost but instead began a Civil War with Xolaani for control. He really is the greatest warrior despite being broken he still hasn't decided to put down the sword and moved forward.

When you are given a task to beat a monster which cant be beaten by anyone else until you yourself become a meancing beast. You think you completed that task for your people but now you are a beast because you overcame what others weren't able to. So you just took its place in their eyes. So they just imprison you because they werent able to control that monster but you are bigger problem for them. But you still having some thoughts about your people so you submit to them imprisoning you.

I usually never listened to the voice and quotes of champions because I thought it was boring. About 3 days ago I discovered this video here and that's probably my 6th time or so I'm listening to it. With the right music and quotes in the right order with a good dynamic it's just SO EPIC! Keep doing that please! I would love to see such a video with my main - Lee Sin! I know he don't have such an epicness (especially in his voice) as Aatrox but still I would like to see what you can do with him!

The left ascendents that were alive, started to fight with each other, and since they were like "gods", they'd cause a huge mess, to the point where the aspects felt like stopping them, and the way to stop them, was to imprision them on their own weapons.
Mista (the aspect of twilight in that time, currently is Zoe), gave the magic to do it, and Pantheon fooled Aatrox, and the humans could imprision him

The only old voice line I miss is "I am as timeless as war" and I feel it's a missed opportunity with his current lines
Fun Fact: In his Splash Gif, you can clearly sees Aatrox is Crying, you see his tears boiling, this shows how tired he is. Glad he found the "Death" he wanted, fighting against Xolaani.

Honestly it's pretty much what happened IRL to vets. At least Vietnam vets, they were treated like shit, broken tools, I can't even imagine how they felt.

The coolest part is Pantheon and Aatrox are the same. Both have been humbled. both have a desperation that drives them to move forward no matter what. I hope Riot develops Tryndamere's story as well to fit into this narrative.
