The girl who was crying made me cry immediately. I'm going through the same thing and the same story.
**hugs**
+Ebi L Please,none of that bad stuff.
I am too. 😊
+Ebi L You should start things off, demonstrate if you like how she should do it and lead by example....worthless piece of trash
Don't run from other culture or past embrace it (unless it's like WWII or Donald trash bag) that's when you'll find your happiness and peace from your emotions
the mexican grandma was beautiful.

Yes
I totally agree
I agree

Yes!
Lily Raimey Jenny / Yenny is THE most spontaneous member of the buzzfeed staff ! She's 27 and loves videogames like meeeee :D
All ladies and gentlemen are wonderful in this video and their stories are touching :)
My great grandad immigrated from Germany just after hitler became chancellor. He moved to Scotland and got a telegram from a nazi saying if he didn't participate in the war alongside the others they would forcefully shot him. He left England and landed in Egypt. He lived in Egypt for 5 years after the war, still in hiding from nazis because the government wouldn't help. After he got the money he left Egypt on a boat and got to South Africa before all his money was gone. He met my great grandma in South Africa and they started dating. She was from New Zealand and she was from rich decent so she took him to New Zealand. He's 97 now and had just gotten his New Zealand citizenship 10 years ago. After living there for almost 50 years.
that's so intense but so so amazing.
Great journey of ur grandad👍
Does one of your parents speak German? or do you speak German?
They should make your grandfathers life into a movie
+Eamon d'Aunou he said it's not as interesting as others story's about fleeing being a nazi. He said "that's why I don't blame nazis. I blame hitler. Nazis were forced to do what they did"
There's something really angelic about the lady from Ghana. I don't know what it is she just gives off this really pure vibe.
She looks like a doll
The Mexican grandma was like a frickin movie star! Wow! So spellbinding beautiful.
+AjaOfVeelox I agree, she was a beautiful woman. So it was unfortunate to see the granddaughter didn't inherit the grandmother's beautiful features. In fact most of these people look very little like their immigrant relatives I'm sorry to say.
A lot of Mexican grandmas looked like that back then even my grandma lol
+Camila Carrillo you are hot
@@camila101_ thats because people of Spanish/other european descent were more common.. Than they started to mix more with visibly native features
@@kh4670 1) you're trippin
2) "native features" are just as beautiful
Arent all Americans from immigrant ancestors?
Yes
Henrik Vollstad True, i meant to say from immigrant ancestors
Except the people who were born here
No. Most are born here. There are exceptions, I wasn't born in America but moved here in 2006. I would be an immigrant.
I meant to say from immigrant ancestors
The struggle is real when ur an immigrant.
As an immigrant life is 1000x better and the struggle is 1000000x less worst here then back home.
Lol is ur profile pick Jackson of got7? love that guy?
So literally every one in the Americas and Australia unless you're native
No it isnt
+Nanssy. kpop/anime ikrrrrrrrrrrrr
The Mexican grandmother looked so good!
+Jesus Castrejon IKR
That girl whose mother was from Ghana is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Omgosh :)
Otakuu Shoujo
Yeah, wave that verchue flag !
Hanzo- -No-Okami she is beautiful. Stop being rude.
Hanzo- -No-Okami thats rascits.
Aren't the ancestors of Americans immigrants? If you know what I mean, don't forget your own history/heritage and shame and humiliate others.
Exactly
Yea, everyone but native Americans are immigrants(and I don't know what we would call Alaskan natives but those people as well) I'm black and I glad buzzfeed loves focusing on minorities but I would've been happy to see someone from a European descent do one as well
+Isabella Svensek no hun no
+Kendra Bernot Wait, an immigrant is someone who settles in a foreign country permanently. A person born here is not an immigrant because America is not foreign to them. For example, my parents came here from Vietnam, so I have immigrant parent. I, myself am not an immigrant because I was born on American soil.
+Isabella Svensek You completely missed his point.
immigrants, we get the job done.
HAMILTON
eyyyy
+Kitketeer So what happens if we win?
+awsome0809fan I go back to France. I bring freedom to my people if I'm given the chance.
Hello fellow hamiltrash
my mom moved to america when she was only 18 from trinidad. thats crazy to think that she was so young moving to a foreign country by herself. i could never do that lol
Same, except she went o Canada a little ealier than 18
Omg WOW! I can only imagine the stories she has to tell! Much respect to her.. 💕
Vi I moved to the US when I was 8 lel
BMO na but not all by yourself ‘lel’
Same. My mother came here from Jamaica at 7.
Omg the Ghanian girl is gorgeous my word.
shevonnie salmon so true
shevonnie salmon are you from Ghana
She Is!! Literally made me gasp lol she's absolutely gorgeous
shevonnie salmon her skin look so amazing and the outfit
Agreed. Also i hope you're not saying that just because she is black tho.
My grandmother came over from Guatemala with my dad when he was three years old. She died in 2008 and my dad is still an illegal immigrant. I wish I could of asked how she managed to be strong enough to go through all that, and with a child. My dad works hard everyday to provide his children with the best that he can and I will never take anything he does for granted. To mí abuela, you will be missed. And to mí padre, I'll never forget the things you've done for me. ❤
Aww, my blessings!!
Ochi's grandmother looks like a movie star in that photo!
Can we take a moment to appreciate Ochi´s blessed genes. Her grandma and her are gorgeous.
Imagine children of Syrian refugees telling stories of how their parents had to leave everything and move to Europe to escape war
I don't know about the rest of Europe, but in my country most people are really sympathetic and welcoming towards Syrian refugees (even though we're having rough times on our own).
I honestly think we are sugarcoating stuff too much for refugees , our own people need to worry about their landlords and paying rent or what to do to have money for food but they get a bed and food , while not 5 stars , it still is a place to go to and relax and sleep safely .
Pray for the best for them. Amen
Their children won't be living in Europe for that to happen ;)
Charlotte Tomlinson Maybe because we don’t want them?
My mom immigrated from the Philippines in the 1960s when she was 8 years old. She is the strongest person I know and I love her so much!
Why did she immigrate I'm Filipino
+Chopper•Happy my grandpa was pursuing "a better life"
When she cried, the feels man. I feel so grateful.
She cries in every video
+I D K Nice.
+I D K so?
+P!atd Dan Howell And jacksepticeye are bae so it's annoying
I D K ok man she JUST had a baby. her horemones are still messed up

good job you guys, you're good people. I'm actually crying, it's a really touching thing you guys did. My grandma would love love this.
Victoria Porres ayyy si xD I miss Havana soooo muchh
✊🏽🇨🇺
I immigrated from Cuba, with my parents, when I was three...these stories touch at the heart of the struggles we went thru and how much the USA was our refuge and promise for a better life! Iam glad that I became an American citizen!
My grandma immigrated from Italy when she was 6 years old. She is now 86.
GG
My entire family immigrated from Portugal; however, my grandfather's grandfather may or may not have been Italian.
Now lets see their families react to the side by side pictures
LittleMizzGing I'd pay MONEY to see that
Girl whose mom is from Ghana looks like a princess. Like, seriously- Disney make a movie where the princess looks like this!
wow the Iranian with the faith....really got to me cuz this happens in India...some places
yes.im indian but im Catholic
Akki Frank seriously?? where in India are Christians being told at gunpoint to leave the country? so many important jobs, power post and wealth is being held by Christians in India. what the hell of misinformation and propaganda you're talking about
Amit Kumar u can't be angry for what people are experiencing
The last girl made me cry😔 now I'm going to appreciate my grandparents while I have them because they were all immigrants too. Thank you buzzfeed for making me realize how important it is to respect them while they are still here
Being adopted and moved around so much, I never had relatives who could tell me about my ancestry. I didn't have special recipes or items passed down to me. All of my grandparents died and I was never close to my blood family. All I knew was that I was African American of course and that through my grandmother I was a Native American descent from the Blackfoot tribe. I learned through DNA years later that I had Italian and German blood but because we never kept old photos, I never knew my past. So I decided that since I will never know my past, I will just embrace all cultures. And it really is a wonderful experience.
A nation of immigrants yet still so much hate
Why are you falling for this Marxist propaganda? 100 years ago America was 90% white european. Nation of immigrants is a slogan used to push more mass immigration for the banking elites and corporations to make them money and to consolidate their power by dividing the populace and pitting them against each other so there is no chance of a united revolution to take the power back from the elites.
loltube2012 you are so incredibly ignorant. Do you think Caucasians are native to the Americas? You do realise that white people came from Europe as IMMIGRANTS? Please do not breed.
What you just described is the exact OPPOSITE of Marxism. Get your facts straight Archibald...
Wow she’s Beautiful, the Mexican grandmother.
@@19SCFC97 so did most people in the Americas including Mexicans and central Americans.. Americans tend to also have native DNA.. Both Anglo and americans and Hispano Americans
Was anyone else tearing up & realizing that this is so BEAUTIFUL?
My parents left their country to give my sister and brother and future kids a better life, knowing they wouldn't see their parents for a long time, only a phone call. My dad'sfather past away and didn't get to see him, my mom cries every time she speaks with her parents. The only thing they can do to help is send money and call. Money for their parents to eat well and get medical care. I'm going to visit my grandparents in May, and my gift to my mom is to vlog the entire trip and make a video and burn it on a cd for her to watch. I'm sure she will not only appreciate but love the gesture.
Great idea and very thoughtful. I'm sure your mum will love it! :)
+mizanrashid321 thanks:)
The Ghana girl's beauty is so on fleek
Im Mexican but i came to CA, USA when i was like 3 so all my memories are in america, so i feel american and not Mexican at all, other than the language i know and i know nothing about the culture other than what my parents try and teach me ( I say try cause i rebel a lot and have different views lol), I know i have this huge family over their but thats about it, sometimes i feel a little ashamed of my heritage and wish i was been born in America, watching this video made me feel more appreciative toward where i was born, having only a small amount of family over here and a majority amount in Mexico is and was very tough for my parents to bear, every culture is beautiful everyone should not be ashamed about where u come from cause most often than not it shapes who u are :) Thanks Buzz Feed!
What the hell man ;-;
You're ignorant.
I'm currently doing this for an art project and my parents came to the United States in the 90's as refugees from Kurdistan. My parents very narrowly escaped genocide by Saddam Hussien. My father carried his younger sister across the Iraqi border into Turkey and she died in his arms from dehydration. My mother came to the United States without any money or knowledge of the language. She currently suffers from PTSD from the gas bombings and all the deaths she witnessed while making the journey on foot across the border to Turkey. Everything I do in my life now is for them. I am so grateful that they survived and made it here to the US. I am proud of my Kurdish heritage and I am proud of my parents for everything they have done. They suffered in hopes that their children wouldn't have to one day. I can only hope that I can make them proud too someday.
thank you! i've gotten that before :)
You're parents seem amazing!
It's rlly sad how Sadam would've been better than what's happening now
OCHI'S GRANDMOTHER LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS
Ochi is so real, her tears were so moving. Nice vid guys
came out like 10 seconds ago and has 355 views
ikr
that's BuzzFeed for ya
Haha True True
+Choco Bobo I wasn't subscribed and look where I'm at. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I mean they only have about 10 million subscribers...
I never really knew my grandmother very well, and she immigrated from England during WWII. My sister and I took a trip to Europe and got to spend time with family that knew her, and it was one of the most eye-opening things I've ever experienced. I learned how kind and generous she was, and how hard-working she was, and what she sacrificed to come to the U.S. I would love to do something like this and recreate one of the pictures I have of her. Thank you for inspiring me.
I'm already in tears and I just started the video. I'm adopted from Bolivia. My birth grandmother is straight up pure native Aymaran.
My ancestors were forced here
How?
+Comedy Or Gamez slavery
Same. I can't wait until I move.
+Undertale Trash oh my gosh
+Undertale Trash that is with me?
The mexican girl looks so freaking beautiful! Just like her grandma!
+Juan Diego “JuanDHMPs” Herrera Mamanché ikr
Ghana girl was beautiful.
My grandparents on both sides are immigrants :) one from Italy and the other from Dominican Republic. They both came here and worked hard for their "American Dream". I love that they immigrated because it keeps me and my family so close to our roots. I think it's important to know your family's native language and culture. I don't understand how kids now a days have no interest in their family's past and don't speak the language.
Somewhere in the distance, Trump falls in defeat.
He feels a disturbance in the force
+lilrudolph Rather have Trump as a president than immigrants.
+Moon Man better to have someone who's educated and knows what they're doing and can help this country than a bigot who knows nothing other than money and talking big
***** I pay taxes, what do you do?
most of us in America are product of immigration, colonization, and slavery and it gets on my nerves when certain people see newer immigrants that are completely different like some Muslims, hispanics, or some body who isn't white like majority of the U.S having the nerve to tell some one to get out so "We can make America great again"
That man, who stood up for his faith, is a true hero.
+Eloise Clark Too bad he probably made it up
The woman crying made me really sad because I went thru the same thing, and now my nana is dead...I know how you feel. I miss her a lot.
nerdy asian 90s normcore dad style is actually kinda hot.
Admin DILF!!
The man who's grandfather came from Iran. I feel connected in a way because these killing against Christians in the Middle East haven't stopped. And they're getting worse. I have family whose in the Middle East and I fear for their well being
don't fear God will see us through
I hope you understand not all Middle easterners are like ISIS or like before. And depending on where your family is, they are most likely safe.
Christianity is the world's most persecuted religon and they are persecuted by alot more people than just isis
Brenden Ramsay Yes, different types of abuse
"being an immigrant in this time is actually dividing us when in reality it should be uniting us" wow, wise words
What a beautiful way of honoring your ancestors.
Ochi's grandmother was so beautiful. It's easy to see how good looks get past down from generation to generation.
wow the black woman was beautiful
Selorm is really pretty
the white lady was prettier
The Man who's grandfather came from Northern Iran tho.... Just from his story alone you can't tell me that there isn't a God.
Tre Ford, boi, do you actually really believe that's proof of God's existance?
Amen.
This made want to cry because my dad came to the US at age 19 did not know English then he meet my mom and he worked so hard to give me and my brother a good life and a good education. He tried to give us things he didn’t have when he was smaller. And I am so thankful to have as my dad ❤️
Ochi's grandmother, and Selorm's mom were beautiful
the gal from Ghana is SO BEAUTIFUL *oh my god*
The Ghanaian girl is so beautiful :)
You are all BEAUTIFUL! Your ancestors are smiling; you honor them greatly. (and the make up artistry is exquisite!)
the black woman looks amazing on that dress
The lady from Ghana is beautiful and poise.
The Asian guy's dad reminds me of Bob Saget. lol He has a nice smile. :)
Its amazing how each of them look like their ancestors.
Omg that black girl ( salmor? ) is so beautiful I just can't.
I know, she looked so beautiful in that outfit. African culture is so beautiful.
This straight up made me cry thank you buzzfeed and everyone who was a part of this video.
The African American girl is so beautiful omg! Their all beautiful!
Sarah Carolyn no she is Ghanaian American.
The girl who's mother is from Ghana is absolutely gorgeous
if u have a language barrier with ur grandparents, ur parents are doing sth wrong
*edit: * some people disagree with my statement, so I want to clarify that I'm talking about parents who had the time to raise their children. I don't acknowledge the excuse "Talking in another language at school results into bullying" or anything similar though. They made a mistake and I'm sure they or their children regret it. I admit I commented too rashly without thinking about all existing possibilities. I won't change the initial post, because that would make people's comments on it meaningless.
true
***** Wow in that case it's sth different, but how did your elders even talk to your parents then?
+yAsMiN Oh and have a great day by the way! :)
yAsMiN Aw yeah I hope you didn't get offended by my post. Just in case, I didn't mean to say those are bad parents. I always love hearing about families that love each other! Many people have regrets like you about their relation to their parents as a child even if it's not about the language :) Time to pay back the love that we received, keep it up, pretty!
***** Thank you! I didn't get offended by your post, don't worry about it xD.
3:40 reminds me of Agent Carter
THIS VIDEO IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL, GOOD JOB BUZZFEED!
Selorm looked gorgeous !!!!
Yes she looked absolutely stunning
Yep,she looks like a princess.
this video made me cry.
3:39 soo much beauty, strength, confidence and grace in the grandmother's eyes...stunning
when America bought Alaska from russia my grandmother was put on reservations had her land taken away and was beaten any time she spoke a word of her language and she still won't speak it to me I only know a few words here and there and my mother was never taught the language either and it really set up a cultural barrier but be become so in touch with my culture now
Ochi looks so much like her grandmother 😮😮
My mother is an immigrant. She came here to give me and my sisters a better life. Now at the age of 42, she's studying to become a fashion designer. Mum, I've said it so many times, but I'm going to say it again. I love you.💕
My great-grandmother was pregnant with my grandfather when she immigrated to the USA. She knew six languages, I believe, and she suffered and worked hard to make a life here for her family. (I think even one of my great-Uncles was involved in WWII over in Germany.) Because of her, I'm a third generation immigrant through that side of my family and I am proud of that. I want to learn all of the languages she knew and maybe even visit Germany and Sweden someday.
Ochi's ancestor is so beautiful
Finally a Ghanian that works at buzzfeed!
The Asian guy 😂 😆 that was cute! And the Mexican grandma! 😍 I have two beautiful Mexican grandmas and let me tell you they were GORGEOUSLY BEAUTIFUL! Also my grandpas on both sides so handsome!
It's great to see this...Because now I know how my kids/grand-kids will look at my mom and I in the future. I LOVED THIS! Thank you! So much!
My family is from England but a load of generations ago my family came from Portugal and that's where my last name comes from
Coming from another country in the Americas I have always thought it was funny for Americans were always seen as part of their ancestor's origin. In Brazil people rarely think about that as part of their identity. I only started to give it more thought when I moved to France. I am culturally Brazilian with italian ancestors and Portuguese family names. I feel like I don't belong anywhere and everywhere at the same time.
I feel the same, I'm Hispanic and I never think about my ancestors until I asked my mom about them, and she told me that were slaves in America.
My parents are immigrants from Romania, and England is where I'm living at the moment. I'm so thankful that they put the effort into coming here and sacrificed themselves for firstly me, and then later, my brother. I love them so much.
Their stories was so beautiful. Please do more of these!!
That moment your ancestor looks better than you do. You gotta feel bad.
I have to say... Ochi is such a beautiful woman. Truly beautiful.
They are all beautiful
It's amazing the greatness and nobleness that people who overcome challenges carry in the tilt of their head
Ochi is just so gosh dang pretty. She has such a unique look. I love the shape of her face. Fun project.
can't wait to grow up and have grandchildren, so that they would tell the adventure story of how their grandfather travelled from syria to sweden.
It must be unexplainably powerful to be an immigrant
ChumChums i still feel like a normal person. Although sometimes i look back at what happened and i feel like, damn! I'm still alive!
Glad you made it!
GHANAIANS ARE SO AMAZING I LOVE MY COUNTRY
You go girl 😘
I'm not sure why.. but this made me cry almost immediately.. and the woman who started crying didn't help, because I felt her pain. But all of this is just so touching and beautiful, it warms my heart.
RUclips randomly recommended me this, 4 years after it came out.
And I am so happy about it. This is so wholesome. ❤️
Selorm looked regal asf in her mother's dress 💕
Seeing her crying made me cry too :c
They all have beautiful backgrounds. Everyone has their own struggle to be accepted in America. This really put it into perspective. It made me emotional.
I idolise my grandma so much, she came over from Sri Lanka with my dad and his two siblings and while they had a fair amount of money in Sri Lanka it didn't amount to much here, paired with the fact that my grandad was an alcoholic. They were actually homeless for about three months and then my grandma worked multiple jobs and looked after three kids, you would have no idea that shed been though this if you spoke to her now, she's so strong and so admirable
I guess looking like an ancestor is really life changing.
That Mexican girl favors Paula Patton
what a beautiful video, what beautiful people. The young Asian man went straight to my heart, being proud of being his dad's son really shown thru to me.
this was so beautiful. made me think of my family and what they did to get to where they are today. thank you buzzfeed.
