Thank you for this video. A note to folks, please do not use red dye or other additives in your feeders as you see in some of these clips it is unnecessary and could be harmful to them. There are some nasty “preservatives” in some of those store mixes. It is simple to make your own nectar using 1:4 (sugar to water) ratio as talked about in this video or change it to 1:3 in cold temps. Have a backup feeder or two in case so you can change them out to prevent them freezing. And remember to keep your feeders cleaned well! If you can put some sort of baffle over your feeders or put them under your porch overhang, it can help prevent snow and ice buildup on top of feeders. Hoping all of you have a safe Winter and that your hummingbirds stick it out with your help!

I figure out a solution to keep the feeder from freeze.. use a fish tank heater.. it will stay warm..

I'm confused. If I had pulled the feeder in, in early November, would the humming bird have gone south like his more reasonable family members? Oh, and there is a brand of humming bird feeder warmer I've found. Mine is coming in the mail. It has been extraordinarily cold here in Eastern WA.
