    OMG what a fantastic model and as always excellent quality. The runway display looks incredible as well. To try and describe the history of This aircraft would take a book. I believe she is on display at Meachem airport in Ft. Worth ,Texas. She also performs at airshows They changed the A to B 26 in 1947 when the Army Air force went to strictly Air Force. ( fought in WW2 and Korea). Specially Kay was a trainer for the "K" version and then Forest fire tanker. In the first part of the Vietnam war the B26 was flown by the CIA out of Laos, (1963) on night recon and interdiction runs against the Ho Chi Minh trail - primarily at night that's why she has a black underside, so those are indeed napalm pods and there was no Topgun position but special operations equipment in that top side area. ( always flying low level so need need for old style fighter protection) .Very effective , great to fly and airframe heavily modied for the mission. Military units that flew her in Vietnam were the 603rd Air Combat Support Squadron and the 609th Special Operations Squadron. A26's also flew in Pay of Pigs, CIA mission taking heavy loses because US support was pulled at the last minute by POTUS - JFK. 4 went in anyway and 3 lost. Not only do you have an awesome model, but a piece of history rarely acknowledged.

      @@MilitaryVehicleReviews OMG, I have been out of touch thanks for the update. Poor girl has seen some rough times. They could definitely clip the tree tops but it was kind of like driving a 57 Chevy without power steering. As I recall she was purchased after crashing from a fire drop. Kind of like golf, repairing WW2 aircraft is a rich mans game for sure. Thanks again, I'll switch over to the link and catch up.

      Hobby Master, Century Wings, and X-Plus/Air Commander (same F-4 Phantom Molds, pretty sure X-Plus was either bought out or rebranded to Air Commander, and they ONLY make F-4 Phantoms but have the best F-4 models out there) are the best.
      Occasionally Corgi too lol

    The bomber version is pretty badass
    It's powered by two Pratt&Whitney R-2800-79 air cooled Radial Engines with take off power of 2760 HP, and a max power of a whopping 2320 HP, with a crew of three, 2 are gunners with two remote control turrets, it has 8 12.7mm Browning M2 Machine guns, and 4 12.7mm M2 Machine Guns, and we can't forget a bomber without talking about the bombs, it can carry 10 500LB bombs, 4 1000LB bombs, 2 1 ton Bombs, 20 100LB bombs, and 14 HVAR Rockets
    as for the fighter version (A-26B-50)
    It has 3 crew, with one (yep, JUST ONE) gunner, still with two Remote control turrets, and for the offensive weapons, magic will happen, I chose the A-36B-50 cause it has 14 (yes) FOURTEEN 12.7mm Browning M2 Machine guns, and 4 12.7mm Browning M2 Machine guns for the two turrets, it has 4 1000LB bombs, but now has 6 500LB, 8 250LB, and 16 100LB bombs, and 14 HVAR rockets

    The B-26 served in WW2, because of the need for bombers, another bomber was also taken into service (Douglas A-26). The B-26 went out of service after the ww2. The Douglas A-26 was still used in the Korean War. During the Vietnam War, the A-26 was renamed B-26K (converted for special assignments). Suspensions under the wings were fitted. I have 2 different B-26K from Hobbymaster (old and new batch). The modern pilots are for the B-26K, the A-26 (ww2 & korea) have the old pilots.

    • @SolomonSamson747
      @SolomonSamson747 Год назад

      Eh not quite. After the Air Force became a separate service they did away with the attack designation. Thus the A-26 became the B-26 (by this time the Martin Marauder was retired). Due to Thailand not allowing the us to operate “bombers” from their airspace early in the war, the B-26K was redesignated the A-26A.

    • @kristhijs3180
      @kristhijs3180 Год назад

      @@SolomonSamson747 Please read what it says, it's the same thing you say. I gave a brief explanation about the history of B-26K. The original B-26 belonged to Martin, yes. To avoid confusion, another "Douglas B-26" was called A-26. Invader was first A-26 then became B-26. During the Vietnam War, the last version B-26K reverted to A-26.Because it had an attack role instead of being a bomber and for Thailand's sake. Not all B-26K became A-26A.

    • @SolomonSamson747
      @SolomonSamson747 Год назад

      Firstly that’s not what you said, secondly ALL B-26 aircraft in USAF inventory at the time were are designated A-26.

    • @kristhijs3180
      @kristhijs3180 Год назад

      @@SolomonSamson747You are wrong in your timeline and have lost the 2 names. The B-26 (Martin Marauder) served in the USAAF in WW2, but didn't served in the USAF. The A-26 invader served in the USAAF (until 1947) USAF started in 1947 with planes of the USAAF. The B-26 (Marauder) get retired, the A-26 Invader was recalled to B-26 by the USAF. Other countries (where the Invader served )hold the A-26 name. The Douglas A-26 Invader was in 1948 (months after the creation of the USAF) got the name B-26 (untill 1966). The JD-1 (US NAVY A-26) became in 1962 UB-26J or DB-26J.
