I had this condition for about 3 years. I was on 360mg of fexafenadin daily. I switched to a gluten free diet and after 18 months I am now alergy free.

Oh thank goodness, I thought it was pesticides. This explains why i wash and wash and wash the apples and yet my mouth still feels like it's tingling after it, also get it on some fresh herbs such as basil (if it's uncooked).
Basically a lot of fresh foods taste "peppery".

I have had this since 1999. It happened a few months after I had my gallbladder removed. Related? No idea. One thing I can say about it is that it sucks monkey bullocks. I vomit. The occasional itching is in my inner ear and back of my throat. I had a kiwi and my lips felt like it was on fire. So, I pretty much avoid it all. The exceptions are frozen blueberries and pomegranate. I do get itching with the pomegranate but it's mild in comparison. Now I just take Benadryl before having pomegranate. I have other health conditions and certain foods I need to eat to help fight my other condition I can't eat because of this syndrome. It's NOT a good experience.
I guess since it's not killing a bunch of people, there's no rush to create a vaccine or some such thing. Sure would be nice.

I don’t get an itchy mouth, but I’m diagnosed as being allergic to cantaloupe, watermelon, and almonds.

Ok so far what I’m gettin is that this is fairly new and on the rise …I get that from the fact that some doctors never heard of it and I also told my dic I’m allergic nd she never thought to bring up oas…and it seems to be on the rise based on the age of the comments and how many ppl have the same symptoms who didn’t have it before ….so I pose the question what has changed in the fruits?
I like bananas kinda suck I couldn’t eat them in my oatmeal the last 15 years ….they suck cooked and I still get ayo tons like nausea when cooked ..also have this issue with kiwi, raw almond, raw potato(don’t really have to eat that but makes my skin give up when prepping) , raw walnut, raw celery, raw carrots, red grapes, cherries
All those things make me nauseous and itchy inside and out when I eat just a bit …had hay fever as a kid ..but that seem to have faded away
So again what’s changed ..is it the Wi-Fi? Lol

Thanks. I went to allergist today who said I may have a birch pollen allergy because after eating raw carrots and raw kale, my chest and throat tightened. I thought I was having a heart attack and went to ER. I eventually got a swollen tongue and my voice became raspy. I get my blood test results back in a few days regarding allergies.

I am allergic to every fruit, vegetable, and nuts exept from clementines, oranges, lettuce, and tomatoes. When i eat them raw, i get puffy lips, itchy ears, runny nose, eye itching, etc. when they're cooked, i dont get the same symptoms.

I have oral allergy syndrome with birch tree and related foods. It's a little more than just an itchy mouth though. It can affect my throat, my eyes and face gets puffy, rash on my face and sometimes hands. I thought almond flour was okay for baking but recently had a throat reaction, like immediate laryngitis and very sore throat. Same thing has happened with raw carrot. I'm not sure I should eat any of the cooked food items after the almond flour reaction. Cherry is one of the worst for me. I was told that the more I ate any of the birch tree related foods, the worse my allergy would be. I definitely get a worse reaction during pollen season. I was surprised to hear that patients are told they can continue eating these foods since I was told by my allergist that if I mostly stopped consuming them, my system would better tolerate the occasional amount.

For carrots, my throat closes up. Cherries, I break out and grapes, I get a upset stomach. Every other fruit, my lip, tongue or throat starts to itch.

Thankyou for this information Doc, here i thought i was going to have to call 911. I cut a fresh peach that i thoroughly washed and the second i put it in my mouth i felt my mouth swell and itch. Im definitely allergic to birch everything on that list is birch. That being said i eat raw carrots all the time and kiwis all the time with no issues. Almonds are very bad reaction and also im not sure if its birch but sugarsnap peas are also a no-go.

I tend to chew on one side and one day I ate an apple and besides feeling itchy, I felt the left side of my mouth get numb / swollen. I feel like that could be very dangerous. I think it's best if we just forget all these foods and not take any chances. 😅

I have this issue but instead of itchy mouth (which I never have) It’s waking with a swollen upper lip and intense eye itching especially the inside corner of my eyes. Uncooked fruits and vegetables, avacado’s, even peeling a potato. Thing is that it’s even in the winter time in CO where plant-life is frozen, hahaha! This only began this fall and I had never had this issue before. I’m 66, in good health, eat healthy but now have to watch everything I put into my mouth. Can’t eat cooked nightshade’s now either. Wondering if this is more on the realm of a newly acquired histamine intolerance?? I had allergy skin-prick testing and show nearly zero positives….just sage brush, some grasses and mugwort… my lip feels as if it will never return to normal.
