In your video, you state that this is NVME only. Will a regular m.2 sata not function because of a specific key layout of the port?

@@handlehandlehandlebars Yeah I assumed you had already installed your hard drive! My E480 came with an HD screen, and i want to replace the screen with a Full HD one. After checking amazon, i saw many different Full HD LCD screens for sale with almost identical price, and the only difference was the item model number (i.e. 20KN003YUS, 20KN0041US, etc.) what is the difference between all of them? and how can i determine if any of these amazon-listed replacement parts do fit my laptop that was purchased in a different country. Thank you
Yes I think Lenovo would refuse your warranty if you open your machine, but I didn't find any warranty seals whatsoever, therefore if you are gentle while disassembling it should be no problem(try not to scratch the screws)
@@TheElchzuechter I read few comments from them and their warranty policy. In general, they consider such upgrades as allowed, but in case you break something, you loose the warranty. I think, they will use this item of warranty contract as much as they can.
@@TheElchzuechter you are welcome. They have a special term for such upgrades. Customer replacement unit (CRU). And in most cases drives and memory are CRU. But depends on model. I just got a new e490s and only see two slots for RAM to upgrade. Given that it is a quad core, there should be 4 slots for RAM. On my old Lenovo W-530 years ago, they used to have two slots on bottom of laptop and two more slots under keyboard, however, in the e480 & e490, the keyboard looks like it is part of the entire upper part of the laptop that cannot be separated and removed, anyone have any idea where the additional two slots are in these models?
Hello, I am going to bu a ThinkPad E490. In E490 Platform Specifications docs, it is written that "Installed memory is actually 2666MHz but run at 2400MHz due to Intel limitation". I am planning to buy 16gb ram but should I buy 2666MHz or 2400MHz for the empty ram slot. Which one is the most compatible with E490 and default 8gb 2666 MHz ram? are your default and extra ram also 2400MHz or 2666MHz? However, it supports x2 bus, not x4 bus. Does x2 can run x4 with speed decrease or it just does not entirely suppurt x4 and cannot run? Is it possible to install x4 ssd to x2 supported m2?
