yeah, the state had some kind of ban regarding Drag Shows, so they were going to wear the dresses as a protest... but earlier that same day the ban was lifted so they wore the dresses as a celebration!! total badass move!!
What happened was: a Tennessee supreme Court judge ruled that morning that a drag ban is unconstitutional, so the fellas are wearing dresses in celebration for the state of Tennessee
Lol I would love to know what pedal does that boingy sound too. This is one of those long songs that just flies by for me, so good. "The sativa kicked in right there" killed me! 😆 My god, Amby and Joey going back and forth was awesome!
OMG Drag night! So happy I was able to go to this show. It was truly an amazing and magical experience and it’s the reason this is my favorite King Gizz song 🥹
When you get to the song Float Along/Fill Your Lungs, you should do the Palp Festival for the live version. They open the show with it and it expands into a super heavy jam. But check out the studio version first because it's also incredible.
Great live performance. The trade off between Joey and Amby is *chef kiss* This album has a few riffs they like to introduce in other songs when they are jamming live.
Also the outfits were in protest of the Tennessee drag ban. It just so happened that that exact date the Tennessee supreme court struck down the ban so the protest turned into a celebration!
You were totally fine doing this instead of the studio. I love the songs on this album, but i hate the mix so much. Anytime you see a popular live version of one of these songs, i say go for it instead of the studio 🙊 One of the only times i say that. Someone pre-sugguested the PALP version of the last/title track. Yes yes yes 🙏 its so good, and takes you on this sinister heavy metal ride.
This is one of my favorite early King Gizz songs. While I do wish you did the studio version since it has a music video, I'll admit the video itself isn't that interesting, and I've heard the studio version thousands of times. It also means I get to see that sick tradeoff between Joey and Amby. I also noticed that Cookie did noticeably more lead work in this version than he does on other tracks. The dresses were because the state of Tenesse was going to pass a bill that bans drag, and this show was originally going to be a protest. However, earlier in the day, they said the bill was unconstitutional, so the show became a celebration of thrm not banning drag instead. Now the band's trying to turn drag night into a yearly tradition, as they did another drag show earlier this month. The studio version of this track is a lot more on the noisy side of things. I'd go as far as to say it's straight up noise rock at some points. There's also quite a bit of sitar in the studio version, which I enjoy. Next song is "I'm Not a Man Unless I Have a Woman", which has got to be the most old-school 60s song King Gizz has ever made, and you can tell by the title. The music video makes me a little uncomfortable. Good song though.
I hope you can look past all of the distortion and everyone’s treble set to 10. They didn’t really figure out how to make a well produced record until Sketches imo. Which is one of the most produced records they’ve ever done
I know you’re going to have a love hate relationship with this record. Simple songs and awful production choices. But dreamy melodies and a shit load of character. You can tell they loved making this record
the dresses were for drag night, which is a yearly tradition now :)
The dresses were a protest against some anti LGBT politics going on in the state/city they were playing in. Was hilarious and pretty F'n cool IMO. 🤣

Ambrose looks kinna bad tho
I consider this the King Gizz national anthem, please rise!
It really is!

Gotta +1 you on this. That performance was a journey.
Second that. Palp was epic
Defo gotta be studio vs live because studio features the sitar
the repeated lyrics during Pill are “I ate the wrong pill pill pill pill (repeat)”
Great live performance. The trade off between Joey and Amby is *chef kiss*

The original king gizz anthem! Sativa rock!
Btw they're singing "Pill! Pill! Pill! Pill!"
And before that "I ate the wrong, I ate the wrong.."
Was at this show, it was fucking bananas.

i was there : ) fantastic times
Hey! I was at this show!!!
hell yeah really excited for this album. the title track is my personal favourite song from gizz
They absolutely jam. Ignore what they wear. They absolutely destroy!
I like the hot water tease in this version
It’s a delay pedal !! I believe he uses the boss digital delay
Confirmed he uses the Boss DD3 Digital Delay for that Fx.

Studio instead of Live so he know what it's supposed to sound like
+1 for the palp suggestion
Also it’s their third album. This is 22 albums before PDA. I doubt they even knew anything about metal at that point lmao
Hope one day you do the full PALP Festival and Remlinger Farms. Both are epic shows with sound quality on par with KEXP. The River at PALP is bonkers.
The river and float along at PALP was killer!
fuck yea ive been waiting on this one
that reverb like sound should be some kind of feedback effect pedal, although im only like 70% confident xd
Its a digital delay pedal, specifically a Boss DD3
They’re saying “Pill” over and over again. “Ate the wrong I ate the wrong…PILL”
Make sure to check out “Float along-Fill your lungs” at the PALP festival plzzz 🙌🏻
I love the early versions. Here is a favorite from their first UK tour in 2014: ruclips.net/video/Rm4Hx6xCwDw/видео.html
Its a boss dd3 ran before a fuzz

I couldnt find the music vid
@@rockdariff It's on the Flightless Records YouTuve channel, labeled as a "live clip"
The lyric they keep repeating is "Ichiro" as they are huge Seattle Mariners fans
bro can you not comment on their dresses for like five seconds? it’s not a big deal mate

WHY DIDNT YOU DO THE MUSIC ViDEO
he did say he was on a time crunch so it's understandable why he didn't
He couldn't find it, he said so under my comment
