- Nice easy repair of a very annoying flickering image on this HP laptop. I wonder if I should have an epilepsy warning......

Yes please for the epilepsy warning! Today I learnt that 0 Ohm resistors are a thing. Wouldn't a tiny piece of metal/solder do the same job?
It would but if there ever was a fault with the screen there'd be no chance it would burn out to protect stuff.
AFAIK 0 Ohm resistors can be handled more easily by pick-and-place machines than either solder bridges or bent wire.
That fuse looked different to the others. Could it have been one of those questionable components we all hope we don't get from our trusted aliexpress retailers?
It was the original one HP used
Why not replace the bad PTC with a correct new one?
I don't have one and time constraints. I'll order some with next parts order. Highly likely it'll never be an issue though.
