Great to see another product saved from the bin.
Just watch out for the linear vs logarithmic pot types, audio gear is usually logarithmic, easy to check for by setting the pot half way and measuring the resistance from the wiper to the outers, should be about the same to each side for linear types.
Replacing both was the right thing to do there, so at least they both behave the same way.
Nice to see you managed to fix it in the end, great outcome.
You're a patient man, Jonny, a patient man.....
Gotta be with the fiddly stuff. When I was about 9 I rewound a coil of hair fine wire in a record player pickup cartridge because no access to old jukebox parts!
@@JonnyFix You don't know unless you try. Great job 👍
Thumbs Up.......
Great to see! I'm a little concerned about just soldering the wire like that (side by side). I would have twisted them a few turns and soldered them. If it melts the solder when used at high output that would be the next thing to do. There is plenty of room and you could have it bumped out a little. If chassis clearance is an issue, just flip the xformer upside down. That being said, the use of Kapton tape would keep the damage to just a redo =). I do tend to over-engineer things so it will probably be just fine. =)
Thanks. I'd hope even at full power it wouldn't get hot enough to melt solder though haha
Well done
Thanks mate!
That's dodgy AF. Would rubber washing gloves protect you from 139 V? Another question I haev is do those coils have to be given a rest time after unplugging them before they are safe to touch?
Use caution when choosing insulating gloves that aren't approved as the thickness and type of material determine its insulation resistance for a given voltage. Coils do not store a charge so can be handled once power removed.
@@JonnyFix ok thanks
Plug it into some speakers ffs:(
Camera battery went dead and guy was about to collect it. Sorry. But the output showed it would have no trouble driving speakers.
