I have a cunning plan, let's watch more Blackadder here : ruclips.net/p/PLZwyeleffqk5r8Ze_qSF9nKi_9hfjH0qO
"No sir, I'm absolutely terrified"
Is perfect
Only second to the ending for making the reality hit you whilst still being hilarious
And Baldrick pinching the general's cheek makes it even better.
'Don't worry, my boy, if you should falter, remember that Captain Darling and I are behind you.'
'-about 35 miles behind.'
HAhahaha- the writing is so good
:) Indeed, and accurate as well. Comedy GOLD.
Today's so called 'comedy' is so bloody pathetic- that one keeps viewing old Gems like this instead .
The writing is excellent. I can't help but laugh a lot.
***** It quite conveniently ignores the disproportionate numbers of British generals and high-ranking officers who died at the front...
Bumbling Brit This is a comedy not a documentary, now get out!
Accurate as well .The British army Generals were SCUM !
"I can't answer him sir, I don't know what he's talking about" brilliant line.
No, No....... this one is the important one: "About thirty-five miles behind you."
@@hongtchialian5087 true, it is a great line, I just wanted to bring up one of the other good lines.
@@hongtchialian5087A great great line. 😂😂
Blackadder: "Answer the General, Baldrick."
Baldrick: "I cahn't answer 'im Sir, I dunno what 'e's tahlking about!"
They're all great, but Stephen Fry is immense in this series.
Seeing Jeeves behaving in such a silly way is...unsettling, to say the least.
Now then now then then now then then now!
Yes he is very tall 🤗
Lost weight since then though now he's just large.
Stephen Fry is great in these roles where he portrays an egotistical scholar.
I love the chemistry between these truly talented comedians.
Apparently, it took ages to get over the first reading of the scripts, it only took one to snigger.
Fry and Laurie singing Row row row your boat! Doesn't get any better than that xD
***** I still can't hear anyone singing the real song without thinking of this version.
I never knew the lyrics actually were "Belts, off, trousers down, isn't life a scream" Oy
@@winter1235 This is the real version.
No Hollywood could ever match this. It's too too good.
This is probably the closest General Melchett has been to combat since the 1879 Junior Rugby Tournament in Bath and Wales.
"Row Row row your boat"
*Both* "Gently down the stream. Belt's off, trousers down, isn't life a scream! OI!"
I made a couple customers laugh when I said that at work.
Classic
Fabulous, university education, you can't beat it
What fun memories! XD
Peter ustinov
I can't answer him, Sir, I don't know what he's talking about!
Konrad Wallenrod Are you the ready for the Big Push ?
No sir I am absolutely terrified
Hahaha, reminds me of Officers in 1RHA!!!!!! 😉 😂 Bty
If there has been a funnier show than Blackadder then I haven't seen it. It is pure comedy gold.
Only Fools and Horses and Dilomatic Immunity (a New Zealand sitcom that sadly didn't get picked up for a second season) are the only tv shows i've ever seen that have made me laugh even more consistently than Blackadder.
*Diplomatic Immunity.
Stupid phone.
there is a link on you tube to dipl.Immun....I might like to have seen it on TV , but I can tell already now that, no, it doesn't reach the levels of Blackadder or Fawlty Towers.
ODDBALL SOK You'd have really struggled to watch it on TV - it was only shown in New Zealand, only for one season, and at weird times that were different each week. The studio just never supported it.
One of the main characters was played by a man named David Fane, and in my opinion, his comedic timing and delivery is comparable to David Jason, Stephen Fry and Rowan Atkinson.
But taste is entirely subjective. I think it is that good, you think it isn't, it doesn't really matter.
red dwarf
BRITS and Englishes are blessing in this world i can't survive my day without english humor.
well make the most of it, there's nothing new to replace it, thanks to woke etc
"University education. You can't beat it." Said in a most sarcastic tone. Oh, how relevant that statement is today.
The same thought occurred to me.... Rather ironic isn't it?
@@patagualianmostly7437 You nailed it. With the hothead millennials demanding the government to pay their college fees. Imagine the kind of pseudo professionals the world will have to put up with.
I would rather have one University educated individual to work with, than a hundred ignorant twats who required explanation of everything, because they don't know how to think creatively for themselves.
Lancer525 Many of the uneducated people I know began in apprenticeships or started as juniors and were in those roles for years learning the trade while you were laying face down in a gutter somewhere with no eyebrows “getting educated”... and developing a sense of self entitlement.
@@lancer525 And you think university educated individuals do think for themselves? They're a hive mind for socialist nonsense.
Classic British comedy. Never failed to entertain me.
"looking forward to bullying off the final chucker?"
+Edmund Plantagenet *chukka
No sir I'm absolutely terr-i-fied.
The healthy humour of the honest tommy.
Absolute gold standard 👍🤣😂😅😂🤣 WORLD CLASS
The moment you realise you are obsessed with stylish clothes when all you can think about is: I love General Melchett's coat! Lol XD
You'll get done for being a whoopsie!
Tears are streaming from my eyes. A brilliant and funny commentary on a disastrous war.
Stephen Fry is just too good.
_EH'GOD! _*_GEORGE!!_*
"Oh, tally ho, yibedidab and zing zang spillip"
This show never fails to make me laugh my ass off.
"BahhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
and I mean that quite sincerely! 🏆🇬🇧
This is a great clip for screwing up the minds of Americans who think of House when they think of Hugh Laurie xD
"Looking forward to bullying off for the final chukka?"
🙄
"Permission to speak."
🙄
"Answer the general, Baldrick."
"I can't answer him, sir. I don't know what he's talking about."
🤣🤣🤣
This was the best of the Blackadder series (although they were all spiffingly good!)
+Chuckle Buzz I think series 2 and this one was the best.
I think this is the best series of the lot, followed by series two.
by jingo you're right
We didn't receive any messages, and Captain Blackadder definitely did NOT eat this delicious, plump breasted pigeon
Wrong episode
*PIGEON MURDEREEEH*
A great quote . This is the episode where George paints an imaginative likeness of no man’s land which included elephants, I think
“Would you prefer to be cremated Baldric or buried at sea?”
@JmacJSGuru 3 of Baldrick's friends drowned trying to bury him at sea. 😂 A real oldie. Blackadder for ever.
Blackadder was superb, especially Blackadder Goes Forth.
“Ah The Healthy Humour of The Honest Tommy”
Genius.
31!? years on...
Put good people together and good things happen almost by default...
I must watch all of these again.
This scene pretty much sums up why Blackadder goes Fourth is probably one of the best comedy series ever.
Hugh and Stephen are simple fantastic!
0:54 "Your Uncle Bertie sends his regards, I told him you could have a week off in April. Don't want you missing the boat race, do we?"
Wait, Bertie Wooster? A boat race is the topic of the first episode of Jeeves and Wooster.
Hugh Laurie also actually competed in those boat races too. His team lost.
Bravo i say.
"Your Uncle Bertie sends his regards." Lol I just realised that must be a reference to Jeeves & Wooster starring both Stephen Fry (Melchett) as Jeeves and Hugh Laurie (George) as Bertie Wooster?
Specially the reference to boat racing gives strong associations
I thought that too, and also in the final episode when George recalls musical hits like "Birmingham Bertie". But Blackadder Goes Forth was in 1989 whereas the first episode of Jeeves and Wooster aired in 1990. Still, I suppose it's possible they could have put it in to honour being casted in the show
Besides, it's a perfectly avuncular English name for the time. Throws up an image of a rotund, bearded, pipe-smoking colonel Blimp figure back in Blighty.
About 35 miles behind you😂😂😂😂🤦♂️
Oh I just love Blackadder's digs at the inanities of the British Command in WWI.
"Why couldn't we all just say: no more killing! lets go home?"
"It wouldn't work!"
Why not?
The common troops and subaltern officers of the French, Russian, Austro-Hungarian, and Turkish armies all tried this in turn. When their German counterparts finally got around to it, it ended the war.
@@roberthaworth8991 They Germans only did so when the writing was already on the wall.
Robert Haworth blimey stop promulgating NAZI propaganda. The German army had been essentially defeated in 1918. If the armistice hadn’t happened Germany would have been invaded and occupied at the beginning of 1919
Ah tally ho, yippidy dap and ying yang spillit! Stephen Fry is a legend
No sir I’m absolutely terrified
Realist line of the show
Hidden in comedy
Absolutely amazing show
One of my favourite scenes from season four 😂 And season four is packed with comedy gold!!!
Stephen Fry is unstoppable in this.
This was my favourite Blackadder.
"Permission to sing boisterously, sir?"
"If you must..."
🎶"Row, row, row your punt, gently down the stream,
belts off, trousers down, isn't life a scream?"🎶
"Fabulous. University Education.
You can't beat it, can you...?"
I don't you row a punt lol
Nice to see a blackadder goes fourth clip without a million idiotic comments about how realistic a portrayal of WW1 it is.
And neither was McHale's Navy a realistic portrayal of WW2.
Back when comedy writing could take you anywhere
Remember and enjoy it, it won't be coming back, especially English comedy of the 80's.
---unmolested by woke shite
This is true Television comedy! : one that requires your brain to excercise itself to understand the jokes.
William Signs yeah you're absolutely right, how unfortunat
William Signs Very unfortunate.
William Signs I thought mr bean was hilarious but blackadder was funnier
But the beautiful thing about Mr Bean is that it transcends language
@@atari947 Yes indeed, Atkinson had sewn up British comedy from Not The Nine O'clock News onwards: And nailed the International market by the invention of a silent idiot in the shape of Mr.Bean......
a masterstroke, for, as you say, "transcends language."
But let's not forget: Silent Comedies are nothing new, really.
Blackadder and a bit of Fry and Laurie are unbeatable and absolute favorites of mine. Was there anything like that at that time? Would like to watch it too.
Try not the nine o clock news
Tony Robinson looks hilariously tiny next to Stephen Fry...
he is, BUT, he's the only one who was Knighted, so it's, SIR ANTHONY ROBINSON now.
1:29 That should be the official British greeting. Along with ehehehehehehehhehehe
No one can beat Blackadder's cynicism!
black books - peep show - alan partridge - phoenix nights - saxondale - nathan barley - league of gentlemen - extras ... the list goes on.
what have you been watching? if it goes 'bing' at the end of the programme, it's probably the microwave.
Ah man please can someone at Netflix bring these gems to the streaming world!!
"No sir, ..I'm absolutely terrified"
...
"About thirty five miles behind you."
great stuff with a good point.
1:29 Ah tally ho! Yippity dap and zing zang's billet. Looking forward to bullying off for the final chucker?
Remind me not to consume any kind of food when one does look at such spectacular show of this kind.
TLDR: I Almost choke my self to death.
Never gets old
This show is brilliant
Ah Tali-ho, yippy dap and zing zang spilip!
With a ying, a yang and yippidy do!
ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BIG PUSH!? 😂😂😂
Pure genius ...about 35miles behinde you....
university education, you can't beat it😂😂😂
I just fought my phones glitchy touch screen to like this video
I Love black Adder Goes Forth best of the Series i think. Wonderful Comedy ❤️
“Tally ho yippity dap zing zam spillip” 😂
Boom Boom Boom Boom!!!! I can't remember how the rest goes?? Ahhhhh yes Boom Boom Boom Boom!!! Brilliant
Fascinating you tube is offering to translate this into English
@@darrellbethell7083 It's because the Algorithm doesn't know history otherwise ....
Nobody does nasal disdain like Rowan Atkinson
invented I believe
The way he smacks his head always gets me
Brilliant comedy. They are all soooo funny but SF is exceptional
Looking forward to bullying off ! 😂😂😂👍🇬🇧
Splendid !
I like how Rowan is trying not to laugh. 1:15
Synystershy he may be a genius of comedy, but even he has to have trouble not laughing at this, it pure gold 🤣🤣🤣
*love Baldrick* ❤️
well someones gotta
Seeing Jeeves behaving boisterously is unsettling
Fabulous! University education you cant beat it!
Hugh Laurie is excellent especially in this series.
Came here for abit of humour after watching 1917, great film very haunting afterwards though!
How old would you say Gen. Melchett truly was at the filming of this?
31.
Google it
“Tally ho ypididep and zing Zeng spillip , looking forward to bullying off for the final chucka?”
About 35 miles behind you....🤣🤣
This is such a funny clip from Blackadder Goes Forth.
One of my lecturers, when asked, said there were still "Melchetts" in the british army. I assume she meant upper-class kids who got given their position, not so much certifyingly barking mad twits.
Emphasis on barking
ABSOLUTELY NOT. NOT IN THIS HI-TECH WORLD. REAL TALLENT IS VITAL. NO MORE CANNON FODDER MENTALITY
Genius
Why aren’t we talking about how hot hugh Laurie looks in that soldier uniform?
Because this isn't Love Island and people are here for the humour and things you need intellect for.
Historian85Kos I’d rather watch this than love island. Hugh is a very talented actor and I’ve watched this all my life. I just thought I would say that. You don’t need to be so rude. I don’t watch love island at all. I’m not a chav chasing after boys. It’s their dream to be on love island and those types of people will never experience true humour like this. Hugh does look very handsome in this. I just thought I would say
@@julietc4922 Well that was a nice observation, I appreciate your contribution , all opinnions welcome as far as i'm concerned
About 35 miles behind. 😂😂😂
Deny everything Baldrick!
No!
And how is Uncle Berti's valet Jeeves?
@2709aaron lmao same here for the school situation lol. I just remember watching this and then the next day singing it constantly making the teacher even madder lol
Baldrick 😂😂😂😂
ooooh tally-ho, yibbity dap and zing zang spillit!
As a durty paddy the brits top comedy I must say
...isn´t life a scream!?
35 miles!!! XD
Yeah I think Blackadder is a stand alone comedy, as was The Office, another great comedy will come along soon.
And we are still waiting...
Row row row your boat, gently down the stream; belts off trousers down isn't life a scream! rofl
fabulous. university education you can't beat it can you.
35 miles behind you, sad but true.
This is funny
This video is 12 years old today. I feel old
WHAO..I do love old Hugh Laurie...
Poor Captain Darling.
Tim Mcinnerny is the only trained Actor of the main Charactors. the other's career's are via comedy / satire.
If George has an Uncle Bertie (as in Wooster) does Melchett have an Uncle Jeeves? 🤔 Y’know, Jeeves and Wooster reference...?
No. No! No! And PG Wodehouse has nothing to do with House.
I can't find the best part in RUclips (Baldrick? aaah Cappuccino)
You mean the coffee? Try a bout of insanity(wibble)
