I watched this then did this with the driver tonight. I have not been able to hit driver in years literally. creating the tilt with the hips is huge. finally understand swinging around the body and to the inside. The bump of the hip forward on the rest of the clubs is lower on the face and farther. Thank you Steve. Now for a driver fitting to celebrate.
Perfect and unique lesson. Thanks. I’ve improved a lot. Nothing has changed me but your lessons and all videos in this channel. I’m a little guy in Korea and now I’m a super fan of you. These days my friends just drop their jaws watching me hit the ball longer and straighter effortlessly and I always recommend your channel. Again thanks a million
Steve thanks again for going over setup so clearly. Recently I figured out that the knees are the most overlooked part of the golf swing. I was miss hitting irons and the reason I found was unwanted knee flex. This not only altered height at the strike unpredictably, but also sapped speed due to the knees losing their supporting role in transmitting usable ground force into the body. Your videos are great. They help me to see when, not just what!
It looks like the left foot is square and the right is flared. During the down swing the left foot lifts and places flared. Can you just start with a flared left foot?
Question for you Steve: What degree is your driver and cans you talk about optimal launch/smash/efficiency numbers in a future video please? Outstanding job sir! Ty! Keep it coming!!!
I can get into all the right positions, throw the club , get into the correct contract position when the balls not there , put the ball there and no matter how I try I swing the same old way I always have 🤷🏻♂️
I watched the similar video you released previously. Nothing has changed my game as much as this. My drives are longer and straighter. Finding the fairway more frequently and imporoving my score. Its great to remember how important the setup is. Thanks.
great points...learnt some very key points. But i notice that at 11:58 to right before 11:59..the club face has not moved but you already pulled the hips out of your original setup (pulled back the left hip from the original position you put it in to give you the tilt)
I used this last weekend. First tee I typically use my 5 wood on this hole. I usually end up even with hole to either side or a bit short in front but this time I hit it over the green into the trees behind so I ended up having to adjust club usage.
@@Inmotion70 I am really getting a lot out of your videos. Only downside I see is I’m lefty so I have to flip info. Example is when you refer to the left arm I have to flip it in my mind to my right arm
I hope I'm not being dense, but is that 14"/18" center to center, or inside edge to inside edge. I imagine it's not outside to outside edge, as I stood on a ruler (I too am a little over 6') and it would be ridiculously close, I think.
the last swing your foot width was much wider than 18". like everything you're teaching . i know for me when i try and step on it I get much wider stance.
I will try these at the range. I have an inside to out swing to get a slight draw, so I setup inside my left heel. Can I still maximize distance this way? Thx great vids!
Good stuff. Could you do a close up of grip, both from front and when looking down. Are you saying that classic ben Hogan book diagram of grip is wrong? I think the pads of palms is shown as touch point for club. You have helped a lot Steve. Thanks!
I don't think you can say that the 3rd best golfer in history was doing anything 'wrong'. He figured out a way to not hook the snot out of it which he did early on. It worked great for him but maybe not for everyone.
This is not emphasized enough in teaching. Without a good setup, it's difficult to make a good golf swing. It's like trying to race your dragster down the strip with the dragster lined up crooked. It will go, but not as fast or efficiently.
Can we get a down the line driver video Steve? Always incredible , thanks!
Coming soon!

Yes! Your new swing will require a new driver fit.
Remember that the aggressive compound pivot of the right hip enables us to power the club to the top, without energising the arms, to lift the club.

I saved this for future reference for sure!
I really really like this video. Instant improvement. Thanks!
You seem to almost hop back to your right post (tail leg) see the super slow mo. Do you get a sense of doing that?

I'm doing all of those with my driver except the narrow stance. Looking forward to trying that.

Yeah I'd like my beginning sequence to be a bit more blended.
great explanations Steve! they really helped ! pura vida from Costa Rica!
Cheers Jorge!
What a Great video, made a whole lot of sense,,and then u smashed it out there 325 yards ,,,very nice !
Thanks 👍

@@Inmotion70 that’s ok. It’s working. I’m a PE major so it sends me back to kinesiology

A very important lesson, that corrects several flaws ingrained over the years. Getting narrow is going to be tough.
Do you have the same setup with every club?
Nearly. Make a stance and ball position adjustment for each club.
@@Inmotion70 I guess I meant in regards to body position i.e. hip bump forward at address.
Do you suggest to use a closed stance with feet hips and shoulders

Sure! You can play further forward with a higher tee and tuning your loft down a degree. Should net 15 more yards.

Last round I hit 85% fairways with this set up. I clicked for me. I just don’t get massive distance. I’m hoping I can increase yards by next spring.
How far are you driving? What is your clubhead speed?
@@Inmotion70
summer 230-240
Now 220
Speed probably around 85-90

@@paulgrayson3385 Oh wow you've got tons of distance to gain potentially!
@@paulgrayson3385 OK so you're doing ok in distance efficiency, there's maybe 10 yards missing there. It will mostly be about clubhead speed.
