thanks I'm a lefty so now when i watch phil slow motion swing i can feel what he is doing...ive been pulling and using my arms now i know how to slap ball using the BODY!!
Congratulations on reaching 100K Steve, well deserved for all the contents that you put out to help understand the golf swing. The hardest part I feel with regard to transition is the backswing where you have to get a nice coil, whereas if you just lift the club up it’s hard to do this transition and get this transition. I know you already have a ton video on the backswing sequence, but maybe a refresher to where your arms and hand need to be in order to make the transition a little more easier for a lot of people.
Thanks Steve, no matter what I cant seem to shake starting with my hips for power and distance. 35 years playing and its still upper body. I gave up on distance but lucky I can hit it straight. How many minutes a day do you recommend practicing this drill at home with bands and holding a fixed pole?
Thanks Steve - I recently had a swing breakthrough thanks to one of your recent videos with Christo, where you mentioned demonstrating to students the difference between a hand slap with the arm vs body turn assisted. I had some confusion between the points you made with getting to the figure 7 and throwing the club from the top described in many of your previous videos - I was stuck somewhere in between. I was hoping you’d make this exact video and it clarifies things beautifully. Well done and congrats on the 100k sub achievement!
Thanks Steve. Your previous "ah ha" video helped me on the round i played after watching. I then played a second round and fell out of it where i was intentially trying to drop the hands on the downswing. I think the Rory pump drill was ingrained too long in my head. So do you think on my next round if i think of pinning my upper lead arm to the side of my lead pec and hold it there as long as i can while first turning my lead hip out of the way followed by turning my belly button toward the target is a good thought to maintain the #7?
Congrats on reaching 100k! Got to you after reading the Mike Austin book. My issue is when I begin the pivot on the downswing it pulls my shoulders out and around which steepens the plane. No recovering from that. I don’t use my hands or arms at all; it’s my hips/torso which forces my right shoulder out, not down. Any thoughts, thx!
Steve, would you make a video about your philosophy on accuracy and hitting it on the sweet spot? Love your philosophy on speed and hit it longer. But on the downswing how do you “aim” to make sure the club hits the center of the club face. Something has to guide the face to the ball. Do you think about your hand or hand path, or you mostly think about the club head path instead?
Hi Steve Do you feel like your pivot is completely finished and your weight is on the left side prior to impact with the ball? Or is the impact happening at the same time or maybe just ahead. I find when I feel my pivot is completed prior to impact there is a tendency to push the ball. Any additional thoughts are appreciated. Absolutely love your videos. Well done!
Hi Steve, When doing drill at end, I noticed your left heel coming off ground and moving in on a semi circle plane on backswing and then on downswing you push off with your instep on left foot. Is that intentional?
I would have assumed the opposite. Us Amateurs use hips too much and don’t fire the arms soon enough. Hands then are behind/trailing trail leg at shaft parallel in downswing.
Separating the golf swing into a backswing and downswing makes it tough for people to develop a good swing. There is massive overlap between the two and no clear line between them as a result.
Steve, this video does not correspond with your earlier video about throwing the hands from the top and unfortunately has confused a lot of people. As far as i am concerned your earlier video about throwing from the top aka Jack Nicklaus is correct. Feel is not real. If you leave your hands at the top you have no speed given you have only 3/4 sec to hit the ball. Athletic motic golf looked at the majority of pros and all of them have the fastest movement of their arms and hands from the top to the slot position, then step and turn. Tried both on the range for an hour and your earlier video where you said throw the club from the top is correct. Really appreciate you and your videos. My swing is now has distance speed and compression.
Sorry to have confused! The downswing starts with the step down and pivot move followed closely by the throw outwards with the hands. These both occur from the top of the swing. The throw reaches peak torque about halfway down which is where many feel it starting.
@@ElGolfeux Confused.....because the way its descrideb is a no no. Steve is brushing with the secret...not pinpointing....feels are deceiving..pure tech is the point
Are you ever worried about getting the feeling of being stuck leaving the club behind? Just concerned about a feel of everything connected together on the downswing might work better for some. What do you think?
I’m only 5’8”, I’ve tried to tee it high and swing up but I have to be so deliberate that I can’t do it at full speed, I don’t want an idiot mark on my driver. Maybe I should play it a little farther forward instead of just opposite of my left heel. I play a power fade, you know in to out , aim left and push fade it.
Thoroughly deserved on the milestone. Here’s to 1 million ;)
Your lips to God's ears.
Congrats on the 100K Steve! Been following since 2020. Huge help
Awesome! Thank you!

Great stuff just what I've been looking for thanks Steve

You got it.
Congrats on 100k ! A well deserved plaque for your office
Thank you!

Interesting as you re-position your left heel to start downswing. Maybe easier move to post around and finish on left side. Result of step drill?

When will that power coil device (the bungee cord with a golf handle) featured in this video be back in stock?
Working on it right now!

I'd say I make impact just a bit before the pivot is completely finished. 30" past is the magic measurement.
Hi Steve,

No.
I would have assumed the opposite. Us Amateurs use hips too much and don’t fire the arms soon enough. Hands then are behind/trailing trail leg at shaft parallel in downswing.
Only if you're standing up or swinging excessively in to out with your hand path.
Separating the golf swing into a backswing and downswing makes it tough for people to develop a good swing. There is massive overlap between the two and no clear line between them as a result.
Nice video but I feel it is contradicting whet you have said on an earlier video about Mike Austin when you said he throws it from the top
You're still throwing from the top, but the pivot must be sequenced properly.

Can’t keep left arm straight?
How does this correlate with the throwing movement of the hands?
Good question, I don't know either. We have to throw from the top, actively, but not too fast. I'm lost :( This is confusing !
Sorry to have confused! The downswing starts with the step down and pivot move followed closely by the throw outwards with the hands. These both occur from the top of the swing. The throw reaches peak torque about halfway down which is where many feel it starting.

Agree- this looks exactly like pulling the handle not ‘the truth’ move from the top. It’s all getting lost in the sauce. Big fan Steve but 🥴
@@Inmotion70this is a useful clarification
Are you ever worried about getting the feeling of being stuck leaving the club behind? Just concerned about a feel of everything connected together on the downswing might work better for some. What do you think?
The key to not getting stuck is to maintain posture with a solid hand path through the impact zone. Your right elbow will fall in front quite neatly.
I’m only 5’8”, I’ve tried to tee it high and swing up but I have to be so deliberate that I can’t do it at full speed, I don’t want an idiot mark on my driver. You're likely hitting downwards at impact so teeing it high may results in a skyball. Try swinging more in to out.
And i start shanking the ball....
