it does turn into pop but i think it's a really good strategy. mainstream radio only really plays pop music, so by going the pop direction, it at least gets her MUSIC AND HER NAME out there. so yeah, it might not be something we hear from tinashe normally. the first single of albums are usually starkly different from the rest of the album. this song could literally make her known everywhere and that's what we want: people to recognize how talented and amazing she is.
this is the direction she is heading. she wants to her name to be bigger (according to interviews)

I dig it. I'm sure the label told her she needed a couple radio friendly songs. Aside from the singles, Aquarius was a solid project. She really showcased her vocal prowess and silenced the critics who said she couldn't sing that only started listening to her when "2 On" dropped.

What makes Tinashe special, is that she can do almost ANY type of genre rather than just one type of sound, which is cool. I like her more laid-back, chill flow type songs like Cold Sweat, Bet, Aquarious & Bated Breath (and her mixtape Amethyst is fucking amazing as well). But there are many people who like the "pop" sound and she can do that too.
So everyone is happy. She's definitely multi-faceted.

I like this song, however, I'm not completely used to this sound from her. Party Favors definitely sounds like her style, but this is a bit different...not necessarily in a bad way though. The beat isn't gritty like usual; much more upbeat.

This is dope and the transition from R&B to Dance to Pop is really DIFFERENT. I definitely think this is a hit. I don't know why a few people are concerned when all her fans know she's saving her best songs for when you buy her album. She did the same thing with Aquarius. She released 2 On, Pretend and All Hands on Deck. On her album she had DOPEE songs like Aquarius, Bet, Cold Sweat, How Many Times, Feels Like Vegas, Thug Cry, Far Side of the Moon, Bated Breath and Wildfire. The rest of that album was fire. Tinashe knows what she's doing.
