This is the best 25 mins I've spent on learning something this week. A lot of work went into this, very cohesive. Well done.

What an excellent and informative video - thank you. You are a real perfectionist! I've picked up lots of tips and ideas that we don't use in our studio, and will take them back with me.

Thank you this excellent explanation. We went to a Richard Mayhew exhibit yesterday and one of the pieces was a hand-drawn photo etching. We had never heard of this process.

It is really awesome 25min. Can I do the aquatint on the plate after exposing?

  • @art-zb2zl
    @art-zb2zl 8 лет назад +4

nice video. I was wondering why you choose not to first do an aquatic tint screen exposure then do the positive transparency?
Also, is the ferric chloride straight or has it been diluted w water?

    Greetings from Vancouver!
Do you guys have a press in the dark room? You'd have to expose the film to light while adhering it to the plate if not, right?
Is the light sensitivity of the film similar to photopolymer plates (e.g. we use Eagle POS-1 plates from Takach at UBC PRC), which allows for some light exposure?
    Awesome vid btw, much appreciated!

no Aquatint (etched, or UVexposed) necessary?!

To me, intaglio printmaking (drawn by the artist, not photo process!) is the most wonderful and exciting medium available to artists, right next to drawing and painting. Etching is in fact my speciality, and I keep discovering more museums and important collections that have acquired my prints. However, I find that this demonstration is so dull and lackluster that I cannot imagine this inspiring anyone to desire to learn the process. I realize that most comments are glowing and positive, but I just call it as I see it.

Nice video!! After developing, this means there’s a layer of resist that remains before etching. Don’t you need to remove the resist after etching? How is this done?

  • @TrishMeyer99

@12:40 it's mentioned that the ImagOn film is removed, but not how?

Hey! How do I prepare (difficult to hear what is said) the copper-plate before coating it with «Image-on»-acetate? And what acid is in use when etching? Any non-cheamical method for etching copper - all water-based? Any on-line shop getting it all? Brand-name for all the remedy? Thank you for answering!

Came to this hoping to find a gelatin free process. Disappointed to hear it is gelatin. Is there an animal free way to do it? Looks like a cool process.

Attention to detail and no doubts about that.
It would be nice to condense the video without worrying that the viewers will miss something.
I didn't watch the whole video as I have been into screen printing and this would oversaturate my mind.
Surely, those involved with this printing method will not be disappointed
    Good luck!

...it will create just enough HEAT"... (with the press)... is it a press or a heated press? I didn´t understand!!! (Enlish is not my mother tongue)

Durch den Druck wird auch Hitze erzeugt. Anscheinend reicht das, um den Film anzupressen
