Good Morning Cog Family & Squad! Happy Sunday to everyone. I’m so glad for the success of the egg stand. Wait until the flowers & veggies are added, it’s going to be super productive! Have a blessed day💕
This video was an unexpected treat. I do appreciate the time and effort involved in making more videos, especially considering this is a busy time on your farm. I always learn so much from your channels plus I feel relaxed - much like a visit with good friends. That is a rare accomplishment. Thank you for providing such a comfortable, positive and informative place for your viewers/fans.
PERFECTLY PUT!!!! I couldn’t have said it better😁. I just adore this family😍. I check for a new video everyday🙂🥰. Bless them🙏🏻 Bless you🙏🏻😇. Love and prayers from Alaska
It would not Allow me to comment on this Video other than As a reply.... I just wanted to chime in and say maybe Jason should build. You? A special egg Box for the back of your bike with egg cushions. Aka egg crate cusion. Who knows, maybe it would work.?
Buffs were my Granny's favorite too! They are docile and always look so plump because of their feathers always poof out. She had a Rhodie named Rosie and a Buff named Betty. They would come running to set in her lap and be petted.
I live in a rural area and we have lots of free-range egg boxes. They all ask for people to bring their boxes back or any others that they may have. May be worthwhile making a sign asking for this. May be put some tissue or something soft in the bottom of your egg basket xxxx
We aren't super, duper eco-friendly types but we do save our egg cartons to pass on because it just seems like a waste to not do so. We have dropped them off with people we've known who have had chickens, at road side stands even if we're not buying, and our local food bank will find a space for them and the times they do get eggs. By happen chance and for frugality reasons we end up being reasonably eco-friendly (it is nice to be so withiut extra effort) but egg carton s and picking up some litter when we go to area parks are our consistient extra effort, eco-friendly activities.
Have you tried freeze drying eggs. Or is it worth it. I'm guessing you wouldn't have to prep eggs hopefully you would have chickens to do that job. Just a wondering..
@@lyndamaewilson3453 Everybody that I've seen freeze-drying eggs always beat the eggs and then pour them into the trays. After they're freeze-dried they put them in a blender and get it to a powdery form.. And then put them in canning jars. So there is a bit of prepping to be done, but they say that texture and flavor is the same,, very good....
People with freeze dryers say to freeze in the freezer first because of the runny eggs and freeze drying trays are easier to handle going into the tray holders unit. Also milk is easier this way also.
Love you, Brooke & Jason! Thx for sharing all your videos! I am learning a lot b/c I grew up in the city. You are the kindest, sweetest family! Also your beautiful daughter, MaryCarl! God Bless 🙏 Stay Safe & Well…😊
I am so excited that your egg sales are are working out so well! I now feel the need to go buy pickles to freeze dry. Brooke, you are truly beautiful, inside and out. I really enjoy your perspective on farm things.
G' mornin' Ms. Brooke . So many things goin' on in your world today !!! Oh my goodness ... I want one of those freeze dryers ! Gotta check them out ! Thanks for the info !
Love free range eggs. I'd be stopping by at least once a week if I was near. SUGGESTION: Put some small sheets of bubble wrap or foam sheets to put between layers of eggs in basket. Then you can still 🚴♀️ 😊
Me too, I was super curious if they would still like them with all that juice squeezed out. Next after these was the peep’s lol that was just fun🙂☀️🌼☀️🌷☀️🌼🌷☀️🌼🌷. Wonder wa hats next? Looking forward to seeing it. God bless you🙏🏻😇. Love and prayers from Alaska
What a wonderful idea! I’m one of those people who LOVES potato chips on my tuna salad sandwich. I like either dill or sweet pickles (chopped) in my tuna salad. The freeze dried pickles would be delicious in place of the potato chips AND the chopped pickles! It’s the crunch that makes the sandwich. I love y’all 😊
I am glad the stand is doing well. Can’t wait to see Jason’s beautiful flowers down there. More chickens more eggs 👍 Like the freeze dried experiments. Learning lots.
Hope everyone is having a BEAUTIFUL day!! Mrs. Brooke, I'm so happy to see you get the Buff Orpingtons!! The pickles look very tasty!! ** Have you guys tried freeze drying any fresh eggs?? ** They sell powdered eggs so that might be something to try! I guess putting them in cupcake pans would keep them from running together. I love it when you show the before, freeze dried and then reconstituted results!! And yep, ya might need another bus!! 😁🐣🐔
I Hard boiled eggs my eggs in the Insta pot 30 at a time for my dogs because it supposed to be more nutrients and safer to use hard boiled or poached eggs
When a chicken is sick and it doesn’t want to eat, it’s nice to put the crumbled freeze dried hard boiled eggs there cause they can stay for a day or two until Chicken starts wanting to eat
I have seen people freeze dry the pickle juice as well. Then grind it and put it on popcorn! I really wish I could try that out! Maybe another fun project for you the next time you make the pickles!
couple recommendations 1, a flag on your egg stand that you can see from your home. an instruction on your little fridge to raise the flag if fridge is empty. 2, for your pickles, if you have cookie cooling rack that has slots instead of the grid wires, you can stand the pickles on edge in the tray and fit 3-4x as many pickles per tray in the freeze dryer.
Great video today! Keep those freeze dryer videos coming. We just bought a freeze dryer from your link and our first batch is in the dryer now. We are making strawberries, apples and sour cream. Next batch... Pickles!!
Love the new chicks and the old chickens. They are all beautiful! Great freeze dryer episode. Who would think to freeze dry pickles or Peeps for that matter! Lol. Another very interesting and diverse video. Thank you both for your efforts and excellence!
So glad your egg stand is doing great! The chickens are looking fantastic! Cheese is growing so fast! The pickles look delicious! Did MaryCarl like them? Thank you so much for sharing this video with me! I love you and all the family!
As an old time chicken keeper and egg seller I want to give you a tip for having the very best eggs in your cartons. Always put them in pointy side down and that will keep the yolk in the middle of the egg. Best wishes with your egg stand.
I love to watch you folks! I am envious but most of all so thankful for you. To have the energy you all put in to your work and home is amazing. I think a folded tea towel in the bottom of your egg basket will help avoid any future casualties. Love getting all Cog Hill Farm video notifications- a wee Sunday treat so thank you x

Look forward to seeing more videos with experimenting with the freeze dryer. The possibilities of what you can freeze dry is endless. Also, excited to see your farm stand grow as you start harvesting from your gardens.
Loved the introduction to your chicks! Hope we get to visit with your silkies in their garden coop soon as well. I'm not a great fan of dill pickles, but I think I'd like to try them freeze dried! (My son has a freeze drier, so I'll be gifting him with some pickles soon.)
Brooke I love all orphingron chickens. I have buff and lavender and a couple blues too. They are the best duel purpose high egg yeild ever in my opinion! ❤
This was fun Brooke, a little bit of everything!! Thank you so much for adding the freeze dryer portion. I’m seriously considering purchasing one and I love to see all the different things you freeze dry. When you collect the eggs maybe put a dish cloth on the bottom and sides of the basket to help prevent breaking 😊
I so enjoyed your video. I love the freeze dried texture. Unfortunately I am a widow and don’t have the funds to purchase a freeze dryer. I love y’all’s videos so much. Anxious to see your next video. ❤❤
Well, that was a fun video! I just love both of y'all's videos. I never miss any of your videos or lives. You both are such wonderful and kind people. Of course, i adore Mary Carl also. Im so excited for your farm stand! Are you saving the money from the stand for anything in particular, or does it just go back into your farm?
I thoroughly enjoyed this video~ (Actually I love them all)! How exciting about the new egg layers! You may end up needing to buy a couple of more small refrigerators for you stand! I love it when a community joins in with a neighbor's project. I'd rather have fresh eggs from the source than to have to guess what kind of place they come from. You can tell, just by looking from the road, that your farm is pristine and well maintained....and that the animals are healthy and happy. (They'll know this, especially if they watch your videos!)
Awesome video. Love the freeze drying. Glad the egg stand is doing so well. I’m not at all surprised. Who wouldn’t want to buy fresh eggs on your doorstep. Have a great week take care and God Bless. 💕🙏
Wow, I never thought about freeze drying. I really can’t afford something that big but they must taste fantastic that I would love make them last longer if I could keep my hands out of the bag because I am got a couple addictions in my life pickles oh my gosh, I could eat pickles forever and I’m a chocolate Holick those are my two bad vices.❤❤❤
Grace Washburn .... I also live alone. I checked the link on their website, there's 3 different sizes. I am considering a small one. I love pickles. Having freeze-dried pickles as a snack on road trips would be a healthy treat.
Now I want a freeze drier! Also Brooke, if you look in the refrigerated section of your grocery store you’ll probably find Claussen Pickles which are crunchy. It’s the only brand I buy. Thanks for a great video! ❤
I love this episode! I would absolutely love to find an egg stand like yours near me! I feel like I could almost eat as many as you put out. 😂 It sounds like your neighbors are pretty happy about it too. Your new baby hens are adorable, too. My favorite is the buff Orpington, too. My sister chose that as one of her first breeds for the same reason. Primarily because they have such a sweet temperment. She said they're like the Golden Retrievers of the chicken world. I'm so happy for you that your chicken project is doing well. Oh! I love your freeze dried pickles idea, too. I'll bet they're delicious that way! 😋
Good morning. What a lovely mix of activities Brooke. I wish I could afford a freeze dryer but it's just a bit much as I live alone. I would love you to try sliced tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and whole big tomatoes to see what happens. Right now I use a dehydrator to partially dry cherry tomatoes and then I freeze them. They add an amazing pop of tartness to cooking as well as finger food.
Love that you education all of us that are not country peeps. Wish I lived closer to get the eggs, just about 45 minutes away. Heck it is just a road trip, short drive. love you all channels.
I'm anxious to see how the pickles turn out. Buff Orpingtons are what I have and love!!! I can pick up my girls. Well, I'm anxious to freeze dry some pickles. I ordered mine last year using your link. Thanks for sharing. All the best!
Hi guys. I think even when you are going to eat things pretty quick you might want to put an oxygen absorber cause items will pull moisture just from the air. I'm not a pickle fan either but may have to try this! Ooo bread and butter pickles! Your chickens are all adorable, especially Imogene.
It's all a family affair, and I enjoy the original Coghill family farm channel so much! But I'm also very happy that you also started the Mrs. Coghill channel 😊 and this was another great episode
HI! Don't know if anyone already said this, but if you are going freeze dry lots, would be a good idea to write the date of finishing freeze drying on the bags you use....
Not sure you need to keep pickles for 25 years freeze dried because they last a while in the jars - but and interesting experiment. Freeze dried dill pickles might taste just like dill pickle potato chips without all the calories. Love the chicken updates and the egg collecting.
Good Morning Cog Family & Squad! Happy Sunday to everyone. I’m so glad for the success of the egg stand. Wait until the flowers & veggies are added, it’s going to be super productive! Have a blessed day💕
I can see that little egg stand quickly becoming a little roadside store, with windows, shelves, & a money box or part-time cashier :)
@@sherryhenry6528 that would be beautiful!

Ditto to all of the above🥰🤗😎💜
Hi Brooke...my grandmother always kept a "tea towel" in her basket. Always used it to cushion. Might work with the bike situation.
Good idea! Or she could use bubble wrap!
Maybe a tea towel on the bottom too
Buffs were my Granny's favorite too! They are docile and always look so plump because of their feathers always poof out. She had a Rhodie named Rosie and a Buff named Betty. They would come running to set in her lap and be petted.

Hi Mrs Cog Hill. I am also not a big pickle fan either. But I love them as a kid. Surprise to see you on a Sunday.
On one of the lives they said that Brooke's channel was going to do more videos a week. Her videos are easier to edit cause she talks more😊

I like fried pickles
Or a hand towel
Nothing better then fresh eggs
That is probably my favorite item that I’ve seen anyone process in the freeze dryer.😋🥒

Love chips on tuna and chicken salad sandwiches pickles too.
I wish that we could taste the pickles from the freeze dryer
OooMeee!! I LOVE PICKELS!! The freeze dry PICKELS look awesome, & I bet they're delicious!! Sorry about your two broken eggs...
Air fried dill pickles are awesome. While living in Hawaii I discovered that thin sliced cold dill pickles are great on hot pizza😊
How fun to see the new chickens. Freeze dried dill pickles sound amazing!
I am glad the stand is doing well. Can’t wait to see Jason’s beautiful flowers down there. More chickens more eggs 👍 Like the freeze dried experiments. Learning lots.

I like to put a couple of white eggs in my boxes of multicolored eggs. They really make those colors pop!
Hey Brooke, Pointy end down when boxing up eggs. They need to breathe and air sac is at the round end. Eggs keep fresher longer when stored correctly.

Good morning Cog Hill on a Sunshine Sunday ❤
I love chickens. All kinds of heavy weight hens. Beautiful. Thank you Brook for sharing. Love your podcast.❤
Brooke, just put somethin soft to line your basket when you want to collect eggs using your bike. I may protect them from cracking. Hugs
As an old time chicken keeper and egg seller I want to give you a tip for having the very best eggs in your cartons. Always put them in pointy side down and that will keep the yolk in the middle of the egg. Best wishes with your egg stand.
I didn’t see any part where she candled the eggs before she sold them
Why would she need to candle them if they are fresh eggs?

My freeze dryer has a new software on it apparently. It does not ask if pre-frozen, it figures it out. Pre-Freezing helps shorten the run time by a lot! The pickles look great, I may have to try them in the near future!
if you contact the company, they will upgrade your software so yours also will know automatically if the content has been frozen.
I’m drooling over the freeze dried pickles! You know you could grind them up and add it to dips! What a delicious treat!❤ Great to see the egg production coming along with the new chickens soon to be layers! Great video! God bless and have a wonderful day!😊

Aww Brooke, maybe add a thick liner to your basket to save them from cracking while riding your bike
Great video! Deb and I have been wanting to get a freeze dryer for a long time. Have a blessed day!
Brook, just put a few pieces of styrofoam sheeting in your basket between the layers of your eggs. Then you can ride your bike, sweetie🥰🐣🥰🐥🥰🐣🥰🐥🥰🐣
This was fun Brooke, a little bit of everything!! Thank you so much for adding the freeze dryer portion. I’m seriously considering purchasing one and I love to see all the different things you freeze dry. I so enjoyed your video. I love the freeze dried texture. Unfortunately I am a widow and don’t have the funds to purchase a freeze dryer. I love y’all’s videos so much. Anxious to see your next video. ❤❤
Brooke, maybe have Jason make you a box on the back of your box and line it with egg crate acoustic foam sqares?
Great idea Chelle 🇨🇦
Sounds fantastic!

Awesome episode! I think you're gonna need a bigger boat, I mean farm stand and refrigerator! Rock on!
The mosaic hen had such a beautiful face and expression
Great video!

Awesome video. Love the freeze drying. Glad the egg stand is doing so well. I’m not at all surprised. Who wouldn’t want to buy fresh eggs on your doorstep. Have a great week take care and God Bless. 💕🙏
Loved today’s video! Could you put a soft thick cloth in the bottom of the egg basket to prevent breakage? Don’t give up your awesome bike.

That's great news, to see the farm stand doing well.
Now I want a freeze drier! Also Brooke, if you look in the refrigerated section of your grocery store you’ll probably find Claussen Pickles which are crunchy. It’s the only brand I buy. Thanks for a great video! ❤
Yes! I love the Dill pickle spears from Claussen they are crisp and I think their pickles have a better flavor. I agree!

Great morning at Cog Hill. Happy about the egg business, maybe add dried pickles in baggies to your roadside stand. 😊
You could make them spicy pickle chips for Jason to eat with his spicy wings.
Just a thought. Do you think artificial grass on the shelves of your egg stand would look good? It's washable too.
Sound fun freezes dried pickles
Good morning. What a lovely mix of activities Brooke. I wish I could afford a freeze dryer but it's just a bit much as I live alone. I would love you to try sliced tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and whole big tomatoes to see what happens. Right now I use a dehydrator to partially dry cherry tomatoes and then I freeze them. They add an amazing pop of tartness to cooking as well as finger food.
Nice
I adore pickles!! Pickle potato chips!! Wonderful and fun video. Thank you, Brooke 🌹
Love that you education all of us that are not country peeps. Wish I lived closer to get the eggs, just about 45 minutes away. Heck it is just a road trip, short drive. love you all channels.
Put a towel in the egg basket Brooke.. And ride your bike.
I'm anxious to see how the pickles turn out. Buff Orpingtons are what I have and love!!! I can pick up my girls. Well, I'm anxious to freeze dry some pickles. I ordered mine last year using your link. Thanks for sharing. All the best!
You are the best Brooke. Hollywood would love you for your authenticity ❤️
Hi guys. I think even when you are going to eat things pretty quick you might want to put an oxygen absorber cause items will pull moisture just from the air. I'm not a pickle fan either but may have to try this! Ooo bread and butter pickles! Your chickens are all adorable, especially Imogene.
I absolutely love watching you. When you talk you make things fun and informational with a sweet, kind way for the rest of us city folk. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰
Those pickles looked delicious!!! Just think if you canned some of your fresh, homegrown, cucumbers into pickles and then freeze dried them!!😊
It's all a family affair, and I enjoy the original Coghill family farm channel so much! But I'm also very happy that you also started the Mrs. Coghill channel 😊 and this was another great episode
HI! Don't know if anyone already said this, but if you are going freeze dry lots, would be a good idea to write the date of finishing freeze drying on the bags you use....
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL BROOKE ❤️ 💕 ♥️. PLEASE, WHEN DO WE GET TO 🙏🏻 TOUR MOMMAS 🙏🏻 HOUSE?
I would love a freeze dryer but cost for use I couldn’t justify.
Such an interesting video
I Love Buff Orphantins
Not sure you need to keep pickles for 25 years freeze dried because they last a while in the jars - but and interesting experiment. Freeze dried dill pickles might taste just like dill pickle potato chips without all the calories. Love the chicken updates and the egg collecting.
