I just found you and subscribed right away. I'm looking forward to checking out your other videos. Love the calmness of the music you chose! Also, it's so nice seeing how you use the freeze dried foods. I bought a freeze dryer a couple months ago but have not had the time to do meals or things like your ramen topping. That is a wonderful idea! My 9 year old granddaughter lives with us, we are a 3 generation household. I know she will love that! Great video!
I love the ramen topping idea. They would probably be good crunchy too. Or crunchy on top of a salad. I have both lemon and lime slices. I will absolutely make your tomato base - were those fresh or canned tomatoes? I swear i use my fd bone broth as fast as i can make it. Ive never tried fennel in mine, but otherwise our recipe is similar. I do use 1 tbs vinegar per gallon of water to draw more minerals out of the bones. I have never roasted my veg - will try that next time. I puree the carots and onions into the broth. Can't wait to make your cheese mix! Your recipe on screen says teaspoons for the seasoning, but you said tablespoons. I'm guessing tsp is correct? I am so making this! Thank you for the detail, all the way through to using it. Excellent video.
Yes, these were our garden tomatoes. It was our first year with the garden and we have a lot of work to do with the soil so our tomatoes were not as plentiful as we would have hoped. Next year, we will have a better outcome. Teaspoon is correct, sorry for that mixup and good catch! I will have to try the vinegar. 😊
No, they are not needed. You just need to make sure to have a tight seal (new or fairly new lids) and run the pump for about 40 seconds. After I seal the jars, I keep them on the counter for a day or two and check to make sure that the seal is good before I put them back in the pantry.
Great video! I had just made a cheese sauce and powdered it w couple weeks ago. I was hesitant due to a couple of the ingredients - but I did it anyways. It turned out good and is tasty however I could not find anyone who had done it making a basic rue. Until NOW! Very happy to see it does work and I will be trying your recipe as well. I mean- can you ever have you much powdered cheese sauce? I didn’t think so. 😊
I'm glad you liked it! I've done a lot of experimenting and some sauces don't work. Alfredo sauce is too fatty and doesn't freeze dry. And no, you can never have too much cheese sauce! 😆
I have heard from many who have said the process takes too long and uses a great deal of electricity and expense. My question is, are you saving anything and wouldn't it be more economical to buy food that has already been freeze dried. Truly curious?
It is expensive; just the cost of the unit is in the thousands. I figured the cost to run the system is about $3-$5. Unless you are primarily using this to Freeze Dry goods to sell, you won't be making your money. You can spend the money on already freezed dried meals, but you don't have the freedom to do your own meals and foods.
Outside of the cost for the freeze drier your most expensive cost is ingredients, if you are able to grow your own or purchase in bulk it is cheaper to make your own hands down. We have had a freeze drier for over 4 years now and never regretted the purchase.
We also freeze dry leftovers that would go bad if not eaten. It's nice to have a bunch of food ready to reconstitute and eat if we ever get into a pickle.
Just found you and subscribed. Great video and inspirational. Going to get going again with freeze drying and the new year upon us. The music was a little loud for your soft voice....🤩
@@FrancisMicroHomestead you’re doing great and I really enjoyed your video and it was informative and inspirational and right now I am pulling out a load of broccoli greens to put in my husband’s smoothies. I’m gonna get some vegetables in him yet.
I love how not only do you show the making of, but the use of. Thank you. Hope you continue to make content.
I am glad you liked it. We have more that we would like to share. Thank you! 😁

@FrancisMicroHomestead i am not good with a garden, hopefully this recipe works with canned tomatoes.
It most definitely will. San Marzono are the best canned tomatoes and if I don't have garden tomatoes, I use them. Good luck!
Thank you so much, excelent video 🙏🙏🙏 ♥️
Of course! Thanks for watching. 😊

When vac sealing the jars do you use or need those O2absorbers.

Thanks for the subscribe and well noted on the audio. I am still trying to get better at recording and editing. It's a new world for me. 😊
@@FrancisMicroHomestead You will get there. I wish I had the courage to do the same I'll be watching I just got a Med 5 tray and I love it.
I wished we had gotten the middle one. If anything ever happens and I need to get a new one, that is what I'll be getting.

We do the same with spinach. When we grind it to a powder, we can sneak it in most sauces. Thanks again!
Good content.
Video editing feedback… The music is a little bit overpowering compared to the talking. Subscribed hope your channel does well.
Thanks.
