A bridge to the soul and intellect!”
I read a story somewhere about when Eurythmics toured the U.S. back then. I think it was Detroit, the home of Motown music, but because of the way music was being marketed at that time, the audience was nearly all white. The story said Annie Lennox asked “Where are all the Black people?” She was heartbroken because she thought the Black community didn’t care for her music. Truth was, they just hadn’t heard it because of 80’s radio programming. Compare that to the 70s where you had everything mixed up and everybody listened.

Coming after us olds with all these 80s hits, lol. Don't leave out when Annie Lennox did Walking on Broken Glass- that song was my song for several years.
"Walking on Broken Glass" is a fucking BOP. So much so, that rapper Sammy Adams sampled it 18 years later on his song "Driving Me Crazy" and it still sounds fresh af.
I was an avowed Eurythmics fan throughout high school. Loved Walking on Broken Glass but was into more obscure hits like Beethoven, Right by Your Side, Who's That Girl, Missionary Man, I Need a Man, and Sex Crime (1984).
I second Sinead O'Connor but please not Nothing Compares 2 U! Ugh. She hated performing it after a while. Mandinka, Troy, so many others that are way, way better!

She's great but the WHOLE look came straight from Grace Jones. Suit and hair and all. Cept Annie went orange.
The AMA should pay you two for your contribution to the mental health of the USA. You took me right back to the first time I heard Annie Lennox’s amazing voice and this particular arrangement. LOVE you guys!
Never cared for that song; but I would say There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart) is my favorite.
Char lene I know.. I’m loving this.. brings back lots of memories and putting a lot of songs on my play list.
One of my favs
Annie Lenox has the legendary voice.❤️
That she does!
@@monicabailey3177 "There must be a Angel" !
OMG...Annie Lennox (lead singer) just watched your reaction and gave you a tweet-out of appreciation!
Love Annie Lenox' voice. She was a force with whom to be reckoned.
Have you heard "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor? Written by Prince
Will love that too.....
I second Sinead O'Connor but please not Nothing Compares 2 U! Ugh. She hated performing it after a while. Mandinka, Troy, so many others that are way, way better!
that or Zombie! Either way amazing voice!
Macs Fe Troy! Yes!
@@gonnahurtify Zombie? Sinead O'Connor didn't sing that.
Dave Stewart intentionally used Annie Lennox's voice as one of the musical instruments of the song, particularly in this and "Here Comes the Rain Again" ...
Y'all should hear "Sisters Are Doin It For Themselves" it's Eurythmics with Aretha Franklin. And also Here Comes the Rain Again by them as well.
Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart are legend. You two are a national treasure. So fun listening with you. This song came out when I was 19, lol. We were shocked at the imagery of the video and the world fell in love with Anne Lennox. Great singer, truly one of the greats.
Please react to "Would I Lie To You?" GREAT song. Annie Lenox has such a powerful voice.
The important thing to remember - Nothing else had ever sounded like this before ... groundbreaker ... trailblazer.
So very true! This is one of the songs that has had tremendous influence on my own work over the years. 😊💎💖
This blew everyone's mind! It was so fresh and new.
@@brigittehuard4902 Oh yes it did! I remember I was maybe no more than five or six years old when this song was new. It was one of the first songs I remember singing to on the radio. I'd belt it out at the top of my lungs and it shocked my family because of the lyrics, but I liked the song and wasn't going to stop! 😊💎💖
Brit new wave started way before. Yaz, depche mode, siousxie, cure, howard jones, brian eno, style council, duran duran, flock of seagulls. Adam ant to erasure
@@Songcrafter25 My dad immediately fell in love with her voice. I was just a kid too when this came out and we played it a lot at home.
Look for Annie Lennox rehearsing "Under Pressure" with David Bowie for the Freddy Mercury tribute concert.
P.S. Love the new intro.
Its really refreshing to see young people enjoy listening to 80s music, that music had amazing rythme and was very uplifting, nowdays most music is depressing..
And for a twist - find the cover of this song done by Marilyn Manson. (Original is better though) I love your reaction to 80s songs! Maybe Duran Duran next?
Those songs were ahead of their time, fo sho.
IMO, "Hungry Like the Wolf" made MTV, because the video was unlike anything we'd ever experienced!
Love them both. One of my all time favorite songs
80s yes - react to Blondie!
I love Marilyn Manson, but I don't know if they are ready for that.
I like their joy..! Lol
Sinead O'Connor - nothing compares to you a listen
Actually that is a Prince song, he wrote it and recorded it. I like this recording better, but find Chris Cornell's live version re ecorded live. He is the best. But not many people could sing like Chris.
Most people know that was written by Prince. While I love him, I hate his version of that song. Sinead's is another level.
@@lindawilliams2211 yes
they did do one. loved their reaction to it.
@@olliojenarter Blasphemy!
Listen to the song EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD, by Tears for Fears....great song.....

💯%agree
Annie Lennox Why is another great tune worth a listen
Even check out Roxette
I would really, really recommend Kate Bush. She is an absolute original and has an incredible voice. I would start with Running Up that Hill.
yessss Kate Bush is the queen! "Wuthering Heights" is also such a good song and the music video is wild
Kate is The Goddess.
YES QUEEEN
She does have an incredible voice. I must be tired when I am listening to her at the time. Because I keep falling asleep. Not that she's bad. Maybe I'm just tired. But definitely a good suggestion
Yes Kate Bush please! Running Up That Hill is classic
Some others to listen to are:
The Cranberries - Zombie or Ode to my Family
The Bad Wolves cover of Zombies, I recommended that the other day!!
@@christinisamathnerd literally any Cranberries song, Delores voice so powerful
Zombie for sure
Yes you must do Zombie!
Yes please!
Duran Duran..U2...Tears for Fears
Duran Duran's "Rio"
Annie Lennox. What can you say. Unbelievable
Might I recommend some Blondie, maybe "Call Me".
Or One Way or Another
I will add “Rapture”
Atomic Blonde
Heart of Glass is probably the best American pop song ever produced

The twins will be knocked out by Debbie Harry ! She is amaZing ❤❤
"Here Comes The Rain Again" is one of my all time favorite songs by Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics! Highly recommend that track if you enjoyed this one.
I've always loved this song. Welcome to my childhood in the 80s.
Gotta give: Depeche Mode - “Personal Jesus” a listen!
I LOVE THAT SONG! The percusion in that song is fire!
You know you're an old fart when these guys are reacting to music you grew up on.🤣
Exactly. Its a trip
Ha! I resemble that remark!😆
Eric S yeppers 🤣
Aw man! Why you gotta out me like that? 😉😘
That's exactly what I thought when they said "Back in the day" 😆
The Eurythmics are cool and Annie Lennox has a great voice check her out on Hear comes the rain again.
I recommend you check out Simply Red “Holding back the years”. I think you both will give him a thumbs up as well. Love your reactions to music I love.
Annie Lennox has one of the most beautiful vocals in history.
