- The Mach 1 brings a lot of special touches from Ford. On the outside you will discover the unique stripe set, 19in wheels and unique from bumper. On the inside you will be greeted by Recaros, 12in digital gauge cluster and cue ball shifter. Under the hood is a 5.0L B8 pumping out 480HP & mated to a Tremec gearbox. Got my Mach 1 in June 2023 Thank God. Almost missed a chance to get it. The Mach 1’s were disappearing from dealerships like crazy. I love my Mach 1.
I got a 23 with handling package. I just checked my local dealers here in Ontario , Canada and there are at least dozen 23 mach1's for sale here. SO many still available. My dealer tried to tell me that I got the last 23 in Ontario, he lied through his ass. It's not as limited as you think.

Great review Joe! I vastly prefer the S550 Mach 1. Found a 23 Mach 1 this past summer in dark matter gray w/6 speed and leather Recaros. Love it!
Your earlier videos on the Mach 1 helped to sell me on my Mach 1 with the tremec and I’m still loving it a year later

Just picked up a 2022 manual Mach 1 with handling pack, ppf and recaros and love it!! Can't wait to take on track in Spring. I got lucky with these specs just 30 miles from me and only 350 miles on the car (at $65k mind you). These cars have so much character and while subjective, I do like the exterior of the Mach 1 more than the Dark Horse and do not like the infotainment screen in DH. Great review Joe, thanks.

The best of the S550 gen, the Mach 1, period. Get it in the base version w/the Bullitt style wheels and ac cooled seats and blammo- fini. I'd take this any day over any version of the S650.

I can confirm, the Tremec is the best transmission I've ever driven in my life. It shifts like butter, no lockouts, nice and notchy into each gear, it's glorious.
Hey Joe, I have a 23 Mach 1 and love it. I live in Europe and the delivery time here is ridiculous. Unless Ford release a BOSS or other model that is really special I will not change. Thanks for another great video, happy holidays to you all from "ICE Mach 1" channel
definitely S550, Mach 1. I got lucky and have one with manual at home. Decided to never sell it and keep it as a heritage for my kids :-D . Those huge screens in S650 fits well in Mercedes or Audi, but not legend like Mustang.... sorry Ford... And btw. BIG thanks Joe for your true reviews. definitely in orange, the most beautiful color! Closely followed by the Eruption Green. I was only able to get it in the Fighter Jet Gray. Unfortunately, you couldn't order any more colors at this point. We in Europe only received what was still being delivered. End of 2023. best regards from Germany 🇩🇪

My Mustang GT has been a little buggy so I am probably gonna end up selling it. I like the Mach 1 best of any modern NA mustang varient and that’s what I am looking for. Mach 1 Premium, handling pack is optional!

Just bought a black 2021 Mach 1 with handling package and cloth Recaros. Definitely a nice upgrade from the GT with more reliability than GT350

Which ones is the best handling muscle car between the Camaro SS1LE, Shelby GT350/R, Mustang Mach l or the Mustang Dark Horse?
Looks wise It just depends on your personal preferences. Dark Horse maybe has more power but this Mach1 is awesome and I like that orange paint. Hard to argue with a Tremec shifter on a good manual transmission!

I have a 23 M1 non Hp and its an amazing vehicle and have no complaints, its such a fun vehicle to drive! I completely agree with you on missing out on the steering wheel and a MACH 1 logo. I feel like that's one of the only things that would be like a cherry on top kind of deal. I know its a "parts bin" car but i feel like something as simple as that would've tied in the whole interior alot better. The only option is to spend $1500+ for the custom steering wheel which isn't a bad thing either but it just feels like they crossed their T's and missed dotting one of the I's hahaha

I absolutely love the mach1 wish I had the money for it when I bought my pp1 gt s550. Test drove the new mustang gt pp1 love it too great cars I bet the dark horse is a hoot to drive too but I have a soft spot for the mach1.

I have a 21 mach 1 with handling and appearance package. Wouldn't even trade it for a dark horse. Mach 1 has more personality, will age better and is way underrated. Have watched at least 10 dyno videos and it's always been between 503 to 526 CRANK hp(but rated at 480). Want to clarify that bc some moron called me out before thinking I meant wheel hp. Always live your reviews but the s650 iPad interior just looks like an EV knockoff, hate it.

You are correct about dual throttle bottles on the new S650 Mustang.
But with any Mustang GT including the new one, you don't get a Tremec Transmission that goes only on special Mustangs, like the Shelby GT350, Mach l and the Dark Horse
As much as I like the Mach 1 I'm not sure if I'd pay for it.
What happens if someone gives you one.

Better than the Dark Horse? I’d say not quite. Better than the Camaro 1SS 1LE? Yes, affirmative yes! The Camaro may have more “steering feel” but the MACH 1 outguns the Camaro on track when pitted against the SS 1LE. And the Dark Horse whoops them both. I love the timing of this video Joe Raiti. Same day Jason Camisa did an ICONS video fr Hagerty where they ran the Dark Horse against not the Camaro. FORD surpassed that with the S550 platform with this car your featuring. The Dark Horse ran against the sport sedan that started it all in Europe and then here in America. The BMW M4 M4 COMP! Hall of famer Randy Pobst, the most consistent driver I’ve ever seen with lap times, posted a lap time of 8/100 of one second quicker in the almost 6 figure M4 comp over the $70k Dark Horse. A virtual tie. Both had brand new rubber and Pobst at the wheel. The Dark Horse is $$$. But today, Hagerty proved its worth every single cent. Mach 1 is a great car. Still the fastest car Car and Driver has ever ran at their annual Lightning Lap, under $75k. They’ve been testing since 2006. Standing on top of the heap, the MACH 1. Which BTW, was 4.5 seconds faster than the Camaro 1SS 1LE. Which is an eternity. The MACH 1 also beat the GT350R by 4/10 of a second. FORD perfected the S550 in any engine configuration with a stick shift with the MACH 1. Phenomenal car. See for yourself!

Knowing it’s not fair to base a cars ability to perform from just one test, I did my due diligence prior to publicly posting these figures and facts aka data. The MACH 1 and the Dark Horse also posted faster lap times on a little channel called Throttle House. Which, I known you’ve heard of.. I’ve taken the liberty of bringing their data to you for convenience also now, shown below. As you find, the Dsrk Horse trumped the SS 1LE by a full 1.5 seconds. The MACH 1 also beat the SS 1LE in this test conducted by TH. Thomas, the creator of the TH channel is a self admitted SS 1LE boot kicker, watch the video , it’s clear as day. Watch previous videos and it’s eve more clear. I mention this because these times, would be soooooooo easy to manipulate. Especially for Thomas on TH as he’s the only one in that group that runs that channel that genuinely knows the lap times until they shoot the segment announcing the times. You can clearly see ho surprised James is when he hears times that maybe don’t make sense( on previous videos) Thomas likes to pull certain cars that may post times that don’t make sense. Anyways, I know how hard it must have been for Thomas to post these times. Two Mustangs beating the media beloved SS 1LE. I know it’s a lot to ingest all at once. But this is the reality. SS 1LE is a great car and really fast on track. The MACH 1, Dark Horse and of course the GT350 just happen to be faster and better performing on track…Also, a quick search and you’ll find a video of Randy Pobst independently testing a MACH 1 on track against the 1LE. MACH 1 is faster in that test too. I’d say it’s not even a debate at this point as those testing these cars are professionals drivers and instructors and in Pobst case a HOF race car driver. Car and Driver also employs retired racing drivers and well. None of this at all disparages the Camaro. Still a phenomenal car. Simply progress and what has made the Mustang and Camaro rivalry so great. They continually pushed each other to do better. Jay Leno often says, competition improves the breed..

BTW I should point out, the track Car and Driver uses for their Lightning Lap is VIR, Virginia International Raceway. Also known as the Green Hell(Nurburgring) of the west. It has longer straights than the TH test track. The Mustang by nature being simply a faster car than the Camaro, is going to pull and continue to put distance between it and the Camaro and continue to pad that time the more room it has to stretch its legs. 1.5 seconds on the TH tracks is an eternity. How fast is the Dark Horse? Faster than the M2 Comp and a tick behind the $150k M5 Comp CS. Interesting and supports these times even more since Camissa and Hagerty tested the DH against the M4, which slots right between the M2 and M5. And the DH virtually tied the M4. So all fo these #s add up, tests completely independent of one another in different countries at that. The Dark Horse is the real deal…

I would like an upgraded version of the Mach dash in the Dark Horse. I may have missed this but why didn't Ford continue the Mach 1 name instead of Dark Horse ? They could have a Dark Horse version of a Mach 1. A friends dad had a 70 Mach 1. He must have been crazy letting my friend drive us around in it. I guess he was pretty responsible considering the temptations with that.

It is really terrible.
My concern is the screens in the S650' will age very quickly just like a laptop or cell phone. You are then stuck with a setup that looks very dated.

With Mach 1, FORD under estimated the HP rating on purpose. It produces 510+ HP. The Mach 1 in Auto, it will take out any and all N/A Mustang made to date. Triple

In addition to the engine power we have in Europe, the Mach1 has 460 horsepower from the Dark Horse. When it is available in Europe in 2024, it will have 455 horsepower in Europe.
