I just got the 1080g2 and it was so freaking worth it. I even found a reedy radon2 550 16t 5slot motor new from my local hobby shop for $15.
The RC Master ! Gandalf of RC , The Obi Wan Kenobi of RC . Love the Channel
Just found this channel, I am just getting reinterested again into the RC world. My 12 year old Wraith is still fun but I want a new toy for the rocks, being a old boy 73 a RTR is needed.
Welcome.
Never to old to get into the game. More time to wrench and play!!!👍👍👍
Pen springs on the shock shafts work wonders.
Stiffer oil in the rear.
30 up front so the pen springs can hold your front end down.
And.. you can keep your stock shocks.
Just a little tip that works great.
This method will shorten your shocks also by 5mm because of the space the pen spring takes up once fully compressed on the shock shaft. ❤
I feel your excitement I’m a Redcat fan & have the Gen 8 V2 Marksmen & Windigo so that says it all. I’ve been waiting forever for a new Redcat Crawler but I’m not that excited about it. I’m trying to be but I am a bit disappointed in general. Seeing your video definitely pushes me closer to purchasing it. Maybe
It's not mind-blowing since it is a shared chassis after all. It's a great option for one without a redcat yet and is looking at the best value and feature set in the category.
Your really intelligent with the RC world.I’ve been watching your videos and learning new things about servos and applying that knowledge into my builds.I bought my son the traxxas slash and he loves it.
Thank you. I try to make practical sense of the science, theory and bling. I only try to recommend what makes sense and what can be experienced in real use.
That blue one you put on is a bronco body. Ford. Scout is international man! Lol.
early scout
No. The body he swaps on is a bronco and he calls it a scout. The original is a scout.
For sure a Bronco.🐎
Gen9!?
That's awesome!
rrrrrrrright?
Just got one for $270 from Amain. I have a spare Holmes Hobby motor that's going in. 1080 esc. I have Element Factory Team bronze shocks that will go on as well. I heard the stock tires are actually pretty good so I'll just change the foams and give it a try. If not I have Hyrax Predators with dual stage foams I can throw on. Really excited to see how it does.
Thanks for the insight! Definitely will save folks money with trial and error.
Yeah prioritized it too in the order of what will help this specific crawler the most.
i can second the body change lol. this thing is crazy if you take off the inner fenders, sliders and body and put a comp style body on it. shocks are a bit stiff without that 2 pound body on there though lol
Seems like a big improvement from stock to your mods. I’m more interested in this beast now! Question, seen some videos about the 2speed sticking. Have you seen any issues with it?
Yes, I've had an issue with the transmission. I think the servo is simply too small for the task. Works ok when perfectly trimmed and ideal conditions but it will have a hard time when the going gets tough.
Hi mate love the channel. Any RGT Crusher reviews coming up? They also have a portal model out now. Cheers
I think where people go wrong is to many upgrades..
Its a trail truck.. if you want a crawler, but a VRD Carbon.
Personal id move my stocks and rear links, new tires and rims.
Tires would stay the same size, probably Jconcepts.
Rear sway bar does wonders.
1080 Hobbywing esc for sure..
But aside from that.. not changing the body and that mounting system.
May some front brass fown the road
If you put a bronco body on a scout rc I hope there’s dirt in your bed every night
Instead of modding the shocks, take a look at Deez Shock Bands. They'll make stock shocks perform like upgraded shocks. They work amazing on any coil over shock in my opinion.
@@themountain59 you do that if you want to.
Great review on some mods. Are you thinking that this needs a sway bar? I have some Blue Treal spoke wheels that I want to put on a Blue one when I get it.
Remember guy, you dont need new shocks.
Use long med pen springs in the front, way better. Short stiff pen springs in the rear.
25 weight up front. 60 in the rear
The pens springs will keep your front end down.
Where can I find accessories for the Gen9? There doesn't seem to be very many available.
Surely worth a pen spring mod before dropping money on some expensive 90mm shocks. Free mod (nearly!) 👍
I would buy a redcat anything instead of being given 1000 traxxas anything.
#DeathB4Traxxas
Did you find mounting hardware to swap bodies? I can’t find the front or back pieces to get the new body to attach.
Hi really like your videos 👍 I really like the look of gen 9 but also like the look of Senduro hd which is the best out the box / value for money.
Thanks
Gen 9 is better for the money. The Senduro HD will perform better and will have better upgrade potential.
hopefully youll see this. when ordering batterys im going with 3s but cant find any info on what voltage should I go 7.4 or 11?
Have anyone's mirrors survived? 😱🤣
Just lost my mirror on my SCX 10 3 JLU & it was really on there. Was! No one has perfected the mirror thing yet that’s for sure. Lost count on how many of mine are broke off.
The first thing I removed from my Ecto was the mirrors.
Nope mine got ripped off 1st run 😂
One of mine was broke when I unboxed it
What mirrors? 😂
Instead of brass..I used automotive stick weights in front..cant see em and add and remove as needed..cost?..3.00 dollars lol
okay so i just got my gen 9 and switched it into 2 gear then went back to 1 gear. now when crawling in slow gear you can hear the motor spinning but the tires are not moving. only when crawling, when driving with no pressure it runs fine but once you go up an incline at some point it stops, you hear the motor trying and not moving.
9:46 seconds into this video. here is a perfect example yours gets a little stuck and continues trying. this is when you can hear my motor but nothing is actually moving. so somewhere there is a disconnect
For a first crawler, would you recommend this, a TRX4 Sport, or an Axial Base Camp?
@@themountain59 What sets it apart from the others?
How does the 2-speed shift servo hold up to higher voltage?
😁😁👍👍
thumbs up my friend. First!
What are those mag wheels on it around 8:00
I think they are from ssd
How do you bump up the servo to 8.2 followed the link for the hobby wing ESC, and the program card you can buy, only let you bump it up to 7.4 so how do you bump it up to 8.4?
Thanks! I really like your videos.
