    honestly buying fake cartridges is too much of a gamble lol. many repo carts will have issues that were never present on oem carts. if you're not a collector though then you could just buy an everdrive and load up your games through there (everdrives are pretty expensive tho)

      I’m attempting to get into authentic cart collecting for a few reasons, similar to what your saying, for some reason i really find myself enjoying a game knowing i spent a fortune on it rather than just spending 30 seconds getting it for free

      @@Sqwerks yeah that makes sense i get that. when you're playing a game that you actually own its a lot more meaningful than just downloading a ROM off the internet

    Depends on the game, making your own carts with all the tools is at least $20, more/less depending on how you build it, making it more expensive than most of the gameboy library (besides pokemon and some other first party Nintendo games) I just wish it was cheaper to make your own.

      if you make your own you can get the price pretty cheap! especially if you plan to do many, ordering 50 PCBs at once. can probably get it down to about $3-$5 a game depending on what it is

    You could have reflowed the pins on that damaged copy... It's ridiculously easy and when you know how to do it you will enjoy finding busted games for cheap as fuck because you can just repair it. I got my copy of Yellow in a lot marked as broken and it cost me $2.50.

    I play real carts for nostalgia and so that the game doesn’t crash and lose the save file. Can always resell it later, it’s not like they’re going to go down in prices 🤷🏻‍♂️

      0 basis for that argument. I get real cartridges because I just can't get into roms. Doesn't feel right. I'll get fan games and rom hacks and put them on physical carts because it doesn't feel right otherwise.
      Plus, I can sell my carts if need be.

    • @Dangnilo
      @Dangnilo 4 месяца назад

      Yup. There's no point in buying cartridges that offer nothing that the rom does, meaning, unless it's a game with RTC or other functions like Boktai there's no point. Getting original carts doesn't help the developers at all unless you are buying one of these new games with physical releases made nowadays.

    As a casual gamer and very casual collector, I’m not above emulation repro carts, or used products.
    Even if I was a millionaire, I’d never pay extravagant prices for a game JUST to say I own an authentic copy.

      I only bought it because i have a analogue pocket, and i spent the money on it for a reason, not that i’m trying to brag or nun, i know people out there still can’t get one. I completely understand
