I love it when I see that the crowns, on-lay, etc. are done in the same office that you are in. There were times when I am at my dentist I wished I could speak to the technician directly, and he/she could exame my teeth right there and then when the teeth came back bulky and the grooves on their chewing surfaces were not designed to grasp the foods. I think a good dentist or the techican must always remember this point (I think it stands with the technician, but if I was a dentist, I would exam the final product and make sure there are tiny and deep grooves to ensure the foods can be cut. The first time I had my crowns done, I requested for the chewing surfaces to have more tiny grooves and my crowns functioned so well, cutting the foods like the real teeth. Unfotunately, I totally forgot that detail my second time (a few years later, plus my first experience was so great so I forgot to be very careful about the grooves) and the grooves were sallower and so smooth that I feel like if I was to stand on that chewing surface, I would've just slipped and fell. Hi Dr O, during the 3-4 month healing period between extraction and implant surgery, is space maintenance ever an issue and if so, what do you do to maintain space? Thanks
Great question. Typically if we keep the implant process under a year of total time, then we can prevent any significant shifting. If it is going to take longer, it would be a great idea to get a retainer to help with maintaining the space and the bite. - Dr. O

Great video! Quick question. Why isnt the crown screwed onto the the metal piece that gets drilled into ur bone. Can't the tooth fall off the abutment since it hasnt been adhered or screwed onto it?
I'm going through this right now! It's been the most frustrating process to go through. I can now see why people don't like to go to the doctor/dentist! The insurance process is so flawed! You're either "covered" for some procedures but not others. Ugh!!!!! My infection is deep in the jaw bone so I need to get the implant. I wanted to have a re-treatment but it seems no specialist is willing to take it on! This has been 2 yrs trying to get this done! Just when I find a "specialist" to do it; the insurance doesn't cover the bone treatment/graphing! That will cost me $700. Maybe I need a go fund me page! ☹️😭
Great Vlog! Dear Dr O, I have reoccurring kidney stones (for the past 30 years). My Docs at the time and for a long time, told me to get off all things calcium and protein etc... Fast forward to today, my whole skeletal system including my teeth have been effected. Every time I have a dental cleaning or such, and they take an x-ray the tech comes back with a genuine look of distress on their face asking me: Are you aware of the decalcification in your teeth? Having explained this situation, do you think implants would be hindered if I were to get them?
Look up a condition called hyperparathyroidism. It's glands on your thyroid that control calcium levels in blood. Too much calcium leads to osteoporosis and other issues. It's a simple surgery to correct it.
My mom has 5 individual implants. The rest are traditional bridge work and crowns. 4 of them failed she had to have them done again. The 5th got infected and had to be done again.
Hi, the question I ask is very simple, should surgery to place an implant and bone regeneration to place the implant be performed at the same time? What are the alternatives instead of having an implant? Thanks fot the video.
In places like Guilford, CT dentists have bigger homes than the movie stars and we have most of the movie stars living there and I went door to door for Green Peace for a few years so I know. Even Chis Rock lives next door or use to a dentist or use to. (Not in CT I think) Doctors might get paid but dentist get their money. Nothing wrong with that. It just costs too much to go and insurance helps little to none if your teeth are in bad shape. What are you to do?
Believe I get it I have bad teeth too.The only way to fix mine is pulling all of them I found low income dental clinic. By using Google the cost for treatment. Is based on your income. But they don't dentures or implants. So for now after all the teeth are pulled. I found video of lady who took $40 veneers and turned them into. Temporary denture using thermoplastic beads. Will see how it turns out. This type you can't eat with and my husband had all of his pulled. So I found whole bunch of things that we can eat. Things will eventually get better once we can afford our dentures. It is just going to take little longer.
I just had a bad crown and tooth removed and I want a tooth in that space! The cost is a small factor but I can’t stand it missing and this is only day two! Plus I am in West Virginia and I will not be one of many WVirginians with missing teeth!!!!
I have a big cavity in my 1st molar and I tried to attend for a root canal and the insurance don’t pay for it and I can’t afford for root canal and I wouldn’t mind extraction for a dental implant but I also can’t afford a dental implant.😞I wish I would’ve took my teeth serious.. this is all lessons.. idk what to do now im so fucked in every way possible. I can’t afford root canal or dental implant. Idk what to do. It’s only 1 tooth and it’s the 1st molar
I will tell you what I did. About 5 years ago I had tooth that needed root canal. Like you I couldn't afford to have the root canal. The only option I had was pulling the tooth. You should have it done before the infection spreads. I unfortunately didn't do that. So in my case it did spread. But it was treated with antibiotics. It will also damage the teeth surrounding the one that was pulled. There will be shifting of those teeth. Then you end up eventually needing partial denture. I wished there was better was that was afforable to save the tooth. There just isn't.
Hi Doc, I think I send you question regarding my TMJ and misalignment,it’s now over almost 3 weeks my lower right teeth with molar temporary crowned is removed and this is now left without teeth as the tooth where bridge is holding is broken so it is slightly fix on another tooth until I have to finally removed as it’s moving and I cannot eat.Now I’d been suffering from headache and eating with my front teeth. Can you please advice! Thank you 🙏
It's different for everyone, for me it caused my teeth to shift and facial shape to change in as little as 3 months but other people don't see these changes for years so it varies
I´m extracting the third molar this week but cant afford an inplant at the moment, is it possible to just place the fixture for now and a year or two down the line when finances are in order finish the procedure ? I heard you should put implants as fast as possible after the extraction because it heals faster and better.
If you're not gonna start the implant process anytime soon, it would probably be best to invest in a retainer to prevent your teeth from shifting into that area because if the gap gets too small, placing an implant there may not be an option anymore
So should I consider like a an all on four or something if most of my teeth have been extracted? Should I just have the rest extracted and have that procedure done?
You really should consult with me and I would be happy to help you find the best solution for you. There are a lot of factors that contribute to which route is the best. YourSmileDestination.com
I wish I can get my implants with this dr. I have finally decided to get implant. I am missing lateral incisors and my smile is crooked :( I have seen this dr fix it but I don’t live in the same state 😢
I am 16 and I am watching because I lost a permanent tooth because it came out form a hard hit from sports. We tried to save the tooth. It seems like it was going to work. When everything was good I was hit with a discovery of reabsorption. This was meant to happen in a few years but I was unlucky. I just got it extracted and had done a bone graft. I have to wait to get one in a few years 😢.
implant is so expensive 😭 if it's not an option for now, which one is better? not removing the root or extracting it but not installing any dentures? I don't wanna get bone loss
Curious, mini implants, those seem great to me and far less invasive. I have seen used on full arch but are they being used now more on a single tooth? Also less time to heal which is far more appealing for a patient. Those I would consider if ever needed but not the full huge implant into the bone and so close to sinus cavities. They are also less expensive which is a HUGE factor for numerous people who need dental work.
@@InnovativeDentalofSpringfield Also your opinion on no prep veneers. I had some fillings on my front teeth near gumline you can't really see it but they are stained now. I would rather do no prep on them then have new fillings done that could stain again. I'm just so frustrated and depressed little bit with the money I spent on work and it not lasting for even 2 years. I don't want to make the same mistakes again and spend all this money over again to be in the same position. THANK YOU DOC!
Great question. I did do a video about this. crowns can leak if they are not properly sealed which is the importance of good exams and xrays. They can also decay around the gum line.
I was told I needed one but my HMO dental insurance through work wouldn't cover it, but the PPO dental insurance would so I waited for the month we can change from one to other.

People don’t lose their teeth because they “don’t take care of them,” that’s a #Classist and #Ableist misconception. People lose their teeth because of poverty, health problems, unaddressed orthodontic issues, bad orthodontics, (malocclusion / bite-problems), or injury. Almost no one loses their teeth simply from neglect. It might happen one out of a thousand cases, (1/1000) but it’s extremely rare.
@@dreamwithinadreamfilms I had 11 adult teeth that never came in (family genetics!) so I kept the baby teeth as long as they would hold - lost my last one when I was 30 and have had bridgework all over my mouth to fill the spaces since I was 18. Fast forward 40 years and now some of the bridge post teeth are on their final rounds so partials or implants are the next step. It's not "don't take care of them" nor poverty nor bad orthotics or injury. Genetics and missing teeth from birth.
@@sl4983 getting my first partial in a few months. Have had the bridgework for 40+ years. Nothing lasts forever. Hoping the partial will feel like the retainer w/false teeth that I had when my braces were removed, but waiting to see what comes.
@@pee-ology7993 Mexico dentistry is much cheaper, but if you go there for dental work make sure you go to a good dentist. I heard there are more incompetent dentists in Mexico than America

For molar implants can you just removed the last molar and put an implant on the other molar? It seems very expensive to put three or even two if not needed? However, if you can pull the back molar and replace one or two that would be less pricey? What if person really. Doesn’t do a lot of heavy chewing
Unfortunately I don't think any of them are really good for covering dental implants and bridges. It's mainly for people who only have a few fillings and do routine check ups
What if you need one, and can’t afford it? “Saving up” money isn’t an option for many people. Especially people like me who are on SSI for disability. (If you can’t make money then there’s nothing to “save.”) The disabled, because of their myriad of complicated health-problems; are the people who most need, and benefit from the procedure.
I really wish there were better options for you as well as my husband. But there aren't any. Google low income dental care. The town you live in. That's what I did for us. There were couple of clinics to call. Near us we made appointments and brought income. Information with us. They charge based on income for extractions. His have all been pulled and mine are not finished yet. They are pulling the rest Tuesday. Bought some nutrition drinks from the dollar store. Found recipes online of food we can eat. There actually was quite bit that was good for us. It will get better for us eventually. The process will be slow and not a lot of fun. Things will be fine soon. I hope you get the help you need.
The only option is dentures. That is what us poor people have to do. My husband and myself that is what he is doing. He has COPD and arthritis as well as dementia. He will have teeth it just is taking a lot longer then I thought it would.
Maybe think about two at a time spaced out over two to four years depending on what you can afford. (1) Get two bone grafts if needed and two dental implants. (2) Go back a few months later to have the abutment and crown placed. (3) Pay that off over 12-24 months with CareCredit ensuring there are no finance charges and you pay everything off within the "promotional period". (4) Repeat for the other two teeth. It's hella expensive as I've found out but paying over time really helps. It will be at least a car payment a month you'll need to save / pay.
Please I need your answer If I am allergic to nickel can l have titanium implants ?cause there's a doctor said if you allergic to nickel then you have allergic to the other metals
Fantastic question. It really depends on the individual. I have had many patients do the treatment because they say “no matter how long I live, I want to enjoy them fully”.
I'm glad you brought this up. I do not prefer to place mini implants. There are so many other better options for our patients. I will continue to study them and see how I can always incorporate the best. - Dr. O
How about if you are missing very back 2 teeth on both sides of bottom jaw and back 2 on left upper and very back on right just 1 on right upper shoulder I get implants for that of is there something else I should do I'm 32
I recommend implants to replace 1stolars and occasionally 2nd molars. The 2nd molars are more of a priority the younger you are and the less money bleeding to be invested in other parts of the mouth.

Can you tell me how you are able to install implants and completely change a patient’s mouth in one day, when it has taken over 9 months for my dentist to place 3 implants which are still unstable so he encased the 2 implants in temporary dental composite material. The implants have movement. My question is simple, I would like to know the permanent dental cement used when operating on dental patients for the one day makeover. I’m not asking for a recommendation on the cement but just point me in the direction so I better understand the materials and methods. Thank you very much, Alan
Mexico it’s way more cheaper and really good dentist, great option.
I am so sorry and hope you find someone to help you.
Great Vlog!
Dear Dr O,
I have reoccurring kidney stones (for the past 30 years).
Thank you so much, for this video. I'm having my two front teeth fixed with implants. I chose not to do it for my back molar.
Glad yiu found it helpful. I wish you the best. Keep 😃!
Is it true implants has like a 80% rejection? I did research, they said within ten years people have problems with there implants.
My mom has 5 individual implants. The rest are traditional bridge work and crowns. 4 of them failed she had to have them done again. The 5th got infected and had to be done again.
*"there" is a place.
You did not answer any of my questions I wanted to know about a full, set dental implant
Whats the success rate of implants
Look into Mexico. Many Dentist have set up offices in border towns. Do your research and you can find a good one.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In Colombia getting mine. 900 implant and crown/ tooth
are you in miami? if not can you recommend a clinic? im missing 2 one in bottom and one on top 2 molars
Thank you 🙏
Hey! Is leaving a missing premolar without an implant for about half a year can cause all those bad symptoms?
Thanks!
All thanks to DR. OSAKA on RUclips Channel for curing me from Bad breath.with his natural herbal diet.
I just noticed you said you're replacing a third molar which is the wisdom tooth? If so, that tooth don't really need replacing
I am missing lateral incisors and my smile is crooked :(
I have seen this dr fix it but I don’t live in the same state 😢
I am 16 and I am watching because I lost a permanent tooth because it came out form a hard hit from sports.
You would need to have bone graft done to avoid bone loss. I just got one extracted and done right after it.
4500 dollars per tooth! Go to Mexico 1500
Stay away from mini implants. Working on a video for this one. You will not save money.
@@InnovativeDentalofSpringfield I look forward to watching that video and your opinion on those! Happy Easter to you and your family 💜
Hello Dr. O, not related to this video, but do teeth inside the crown are possible for a decay?
Great question. I did do a video about this. crowns can leak if they are not properly sealed which is the importance of good exams and xrays. They can also decay around the gum line.
I was told I needed one but my HMO dental insurance through work wouldn't cover it, but the PPO dental insurance would so I waited for the month we can change from one to other.
If someone is on bisphosphenate for osteoporosis, what is the risk to messing with the jaw bone? I've heard about osteonecrosis of the jaw.
Hi doctor i like your text book talk about implant.
I hope you see other doctor in turkey mexico ect.that have more experience knowlege about that implant practice.and afordobale for patient not customer.
Question how much the price of inplant screw in ebay .there you know if your job is humain ??????
The cost mentioned in this videi of individual implant is 1650 dollar more than in Norway. Shocking expensive being in Thailand.
I did 2 molar teeth implant each coat 1467 usd here in the Middle East
I'm taking care of the teeth I have! I've said for at least a decade now, my goal is to never have another cavity in my life. Well, the COVID mask-wearing took care of that ($$$) but now, I'm back to my goal!! Keep those videos coming Dr O!!
@@dreamwithinadreamfilms freakin THANK YOU!
@@michelletribble7327 Do you use partials
@@sl4983 getting my first partial in a few months. Have had the bridgework for 40+ years. Nothing lasts forever. Hoping the partial will feel like the retainer w/false teeth that I had when my braces were removed, but waiting to see what comes.

So awesome! Hello Dr. O! From Colorado!
Great video
I just got 10 implants on upper jaw
And 4 on my bottom’s
Bone grafting and a lift
Hi that’s just about what I’m having done. May I ask what ur cost was? Mine is 36000😢
@@pee-ology7993 Mexico dentistry is much cheaper, but if you go there for dental work make sure you go to a good dentist. I heard there are more incompetent dentists in Mexico than America

I'm getting mine upper mouth totally all 15 k in Mexico compare in Texas for 27 k it's ridiculous n expensive but at least I'm getting my teeth done been a long road will be all worth it go to Mexico I'm excited to get my teeth done n smile soon !
How long last keep dental impla after fixed
Why can't another option for a missing tooth be a retainer worn at night? Keep the teeth from shifting.
For molar implants can you just removed the last molar and put an implant on the other molar?
It seems very expensive to put three or even two if not needed?
However, if you can pull the back molar and replace one or two that would be less pricey?
What if person really. Doesn’t do a lot of heavy chewing

What’s the Best insurance for Dental Implants and the “Missing Tooth Clause”?
Unfortunately I don't think any of them are really good for covering dental implants and bridges. It's mainly for people who only have a few fillings and do routine check ups

How long do dental implant last?
The implant itself if it doesn't fail or get infected should last long time. The crown on top I think is 5 or ten years.
I’m missing some tooth and would love you to replace them for me.
Hey doctor. Do you practice swiss basal implants.
Can u redo all on 4 again after it fails after 20 yrs....wat is average lifespan of full mouth dental implants???
With good care and regular cleanings the implants themselves should last forever
We have many options for patient financing to help them with a more affordable monthly payment.
THIS!
@@InnovativeDentalofSpringfield if it's anything over $100 a month, many of us cannot afford that.
Im fromCanada and im looking to have my teeth done,I hate my teeth and i never really smile.I would love to have a consultation.

Is it better to have a ceramic fixture? I met a woman who works for a dentist that specializes in a "holistic" approach.
Titanium is the best.
I’m 19 and I lost my front tooth does anyone know how the insurance works is a monthly plan or I would have to pay over 1000 dollars on the spot
I have a failed root Canel tooth number 30 so I think I will have an implant because I don’t want to do a redo Root canal 🦷
Very informative
Glad it was helpful!
would love to interview you on my channel! great work
Thank you.
What about 44 yrs old I need 2 on each side is that ok to do???
Maybe think about two at a time spaced out over two to four years depending on what you can afford. (1) Get two bone grafts if needed and two dental implants. (2) Go back a few months later to have the abutment and crown placed. (3) Pay that off over 12-24 months with CareCredit ensuring there are no finance charges and you pay everything off within the "promotional period". (4) Repeat for the other two teeth. It's hella expensive as I've found out but paying over time really helps. It will be at least a car payment a month you'll need to save / pay.

Can a dentist put an implant without having to do a cbct? I need one implant on #11, but I don't want to have that radiation. What can be done?
The radiation in a cbct is 1/100th of a catscan. The benefits far outweigh the risks.
As long as I don't have to turn my visit into a country song like "some beach"..... need it, but want to be knocked out cold for this process!

Which video are you looking for and I'll share the link?
Is there an age where an implant cost versus your remaining years doesn't make sense?
Fantastic question. It really depends on the individual. I have had many patients do the treatment because they say “no matter how long I live, I want to enjoy them fully”.
Great video as usual!!!
Thanks for watching!
Make a mini dental implant video
Are you in Ghana?
Prices are outrageous,, it's ashame, there is no reason why fixture, abutment, crown should cost this much money.
Does one need root canal before crown
If your natural tooth infected or the decay is very close to the roots then yes
