in the Most parts of Germany we call this "Berliner" but people in Berlin call it for some reason "Pfannkuchen", in south Germany (Like Munich) call it "Krapfen".

Well, malasadas ARE a popular Hawaiian snack, only makes sense Alola would have them
I thought these were donuts at first, then when he revealed that they were malasadas. Sun and Moon came into my head instantly immediately.
I went to Hawaii recently and holy shit malasadas were EVERYWHERE and I was so delighted by it because I fed so many to my pokemon in sun and moon that I had one every day for breakfast while there. They're awesome!!

The Azoreans were skilled craftsmen at home, but due to famine and economic crisis, a lot had to migrate away and went either to Ontario, Massachusetts or Hawaii. In Hawaii they worked on the sugarcane plantations because they were from a similar environment (the Azores has pineapple plantations for its own type of the fruit, as well as oranges and melons), but on their off time, together with the other Portuguese, once they were all more established, they restarted woodworking, trying to make Portuguese guitars from home. But they had to be a bit different because different wood was available. That's how Ukeleles came to be, how Malassadas came to be so popular there, and how Portuguese sausage is a typical meal over there.
