- A straightforward monster fight featuring an obscure character from the franchise's past that many fans might be unfamiliar with.
The 1978 Hanna-Barbera cartoon show was what introduced me to Godzilla. Most of the monsters in the series were forgettable, but Axor from the episode "The Beast of Storm Island" always stood out as one of the more imaginative ones. I always remembered him as "that big, curvy black monster with a thing on his head". His design, powers, personality and his connection to a mystical source of power protected by his personal temple make him unique among all of the franchise's monsters, and I think he is one obscure kaiju that deserve to be revisited.
This isn't my proudest work because meaningless monster brawls aren't usually my thing (which is why I added the ending gag), there is little sense of a coherent choreography (the fight lacks rhythm, it's just a long back-and-forth until one of them gets an arbitrary power-up and wins), the editing at the end could be tighter and my music options were limited. But I needed to take some time off from other animation projects to make something smaller and self-contained. I also need to keep this channel alive with new content from time to time. And it was nice to experiment with trying to add a stronger sense of weight and heft to my animations and to test out all kinds of effects and compositing filters.
Characters belong to Toho Co., Ltd. and (probably) Hanna-Barbera and Warner Bros.
Animated in Blender 2.74, edited in Sony Vegas Pro 14.0. The video took about 5 months to make, including modeling the characters and environments.

These monster brawls are no where near meaningless. These animations are so well made and choreographed and makes me, and a lot of people entertained.
I think the reason he said meaningless, was because the kaiju were fighting without an explanation.

@@PepsiMann2009 Actually Toho officially calls them plates as seen in their guide books, which makes sense giving that they were inspired by the plates of a Stegosaurus, but I don't really think it matters what you call them as long as people understand what you're talking about, I use the word "spines" since it's what I'm used to saying.

Oh my god this was the hypest shit ever. There were SO many memorable moments: Godzilla’s silhouette behind axor, when he used his own arm bone as a weapon, and of course the finale with the red spiral ray was so fucking cool.
Also when Godzilla sent his atomic breath through Axor’s whoopie cushion thing.

I can see this as becoming a new series of sorts. "Guardian Monster Exams". Parody plot:
King Caesar held a special class for monsters to help them become better guardian monsters or to simply become one. As the final part of the course, an exam is held in which you get a grade and either gain a tier of the Guardian License, or have it revoked. However, due to King Caesar being busy due to his own work as a guardian, he can't leave to exam the monsters in class. So he asked his co-worker King Kong for help via Giant Condor mail, but he too was busy guarding Skull Island. Mothra overheard and told him to just ask Godzilla to do the exams for him. Godzilla, passing by near the Island, overheard and was like "Do what?" After telling him of the matter, he simply asked "Can I kill them?" to which Caesar said "It's a part of the score, so yeah." "Smashing! I'll do it!"
Scores for the exam are determined by the following points:
1. How much damage what you are guarding has taken.
2. Whether or not what you are guarding gets destroyed or becomes unusable.
3. Whether or not you defeat/kill the monster attacking you, even if what you are guarding gets destroyed.
4. How you solve the battle/ward of the attacker and make them stop.
5. How much damage you have taken.
6. Whether or not you die.
As a note, monsters that die during the exam are miraculously returned back to life and healed to a point where they still have some injuries (which explains the last shot xD), except for Godzilla whom is just healed to perfection.
I also have a request, because I just love this stuff (Keep up the good work, man!)! Godzilla (your choice which, but no Legendary, Shin or Earth) vs Gorgo vs Rhedosaurus vs Reptilicus. (Japan vs Britain vs America vs Denmark) (Or just Godzilla vs Gorgo and Rhedosaurus vs Reptilicus, which makes 2) :D

nice, though for resurrections i was thinking a monster they have on hand that can repair damage done to a body by controlling the cells of the monster being healed. for that monster's design, i am thinking of a salamander like monster or a flatworm, since they are most well known for their regenerative capabilities

The way it starts on one side of Axor's face with Godzilla's eye in the foreground, then shifts to show Godzilla's spinal plates in the background glowing blue, then swings around to continue showing the power up _while keeping Axor's eye in frame to show his reaction._ That is an excellent attention to detail, and it stands out as masterful directing. Well done.

this was quite different then Zilla vs Gorozorus, its much more back and forth rathere than a fast paced speed fight, put simply, this was like two tanks

To be honest, i think Axor deserves at least a C or a B, because he was able to stand up pretty well to Godzilla, and even damage him pretty hard and take some devastating blows as well. He definately did better then Megalon and Mothra in most occasions.

Yea, no matter what axor was gonna get defeated by godzilla, but he had to make sure the temple received little to no damage during the fight
He did well in the fight yeah but usually the guardian is at the temple, Godzilla got a pretty good inspection of it and caught wind of the power boost. So bad start for protection.
Also from I’ve noticed through his dominant parts of the fight he was feeding off of the pits boost. So whatever invading monster with enough intelligence would want whatever is in the temple even more.
There’s other mistakes he’s done which could be pointed out but to make a long critique short, he’s a D rank guardian at best.

I think the problem was the area he was supposed to guard got blown up AND was able to be used by the enemy, in this case Godzilla
True with him turning away early and not makeing sure the oponent was dead lost him points, then the oponent useing their combined powers to destroy the protected place even more points, then to not worry about a healing factor into play minus more points, then for pore use of environment to advantage since he knew the area better but still Godzilla used the battle field better and he was the challenger minus more points their. A protector has to make sure the enemy is either dead or long gone before calling it and uses their knowledge of said area to their advantage and not just do ring abouts hopeing their quit he didn't have a full killing instinct reason he turned away when he coulda had Godzilla so really I don't blame Godzilla for the score yes on a weaker monster he guards it but on a oponent that's a threat we does poorly at it plus in the end he died and his area got destroyed so ya F and lissence revoke sounds good to me nice fight but by a grading system or at lest Godzillas it sticks.

It's not often we get to see a fan-made animation of this quality. Seriously, everything about it was PERFECT!!! The combat, the effects, the destruction, the use of the 1998 Godzilla theme, even the unexpected comedy at the end. (Not to mention how badass Godzilla was for stabbing Axor with his own arm bones.) An astoundingly well-animated fight with tension, interesting powers, uncommon stakes in the form of an actual structure being relevant to the conflict, and choreography that rivals even the best suitmation I've ever seen!

I think the animation definitely conveyed a sense of weight and heft while still maintaining an appropriate level of fluidity for the combat! You do a really good job of having the kaiju fight in a way that seems plausible enough ("enough" is the important thing) but still very entertaining. The fights are also choreographed well and paced appropriately which is hard to do over even this ~9 minute timeframe (as we've all seen in most kaiju flicks, even KOTM), and that deserves kudos as well

Godzilla: Well you passed the initial test to see if you are a good guardian, which you are, hell you almost managed to kill me! But there are a couple things that made your score lower. For one you value the temple too much, that’s one of the ways I managed to get the jump on you multiple times, and your primary weapon is double edged sword. However. Those by themselves would get you a B or a C at most, but what really tipped off the scales was substance abuse. Sure it makes you more powerful but sniffing Lazarus gas in the middle of a fight to make you stronger is just cheating. So I’m sorry Axor but you have to find a new profession. Good day.
I can agree with these points, but idk about the substance abuse, since well most Kaiju do have the ability to absorb something inorder to get a boost, if anything he should get a lower score for not being able to keep the temple from being destroyed completely

Holy crap, man. This is absolutely awesome. Good to see my boy axor getting some love! Also, that move with the Godzilla’s atomic breath and the sack on axor’s head was absolutely badass.
DAMN Vrahno! Once again, your choreography and fluidity in which you animate a monster fight never ceases to amaze me! The Godzilla Final Wars model is not only extremely awesome looking (and accurate might I say), but also quite expressive! The effects are awesome as always, I especially love the little nod to Godzilla Final Wars where the fire is reflected in Godzilla's eyes, you seriously nailed that! And the ear animations...subtle, yet add a ton of depth and character to Godzilla! Glad to see the king of Godzilla animations has returned!

Well I for one love these "meaningless monster brawl", especially the ones you make, the fluidity, choreography, and cinematography of this animation is amazing, and while I do enjoy your more comedic videos to, I think you shine most with the more action packed videos (Zilla vs Gorgosaurus being my greatest example) so please do more, idc if they end with a gag, that just makes them better honestly
