@@AbcIHateYou3 The time it takes to unlock operators is close to irellevant (especially if you have been playing the game since the start) since as a new player you don't need every opetator avaliable. Yes, it's a grind, 30 hours per operator at the worst, but the most powerful operators in the game are still the base game ones.
@@AbcIHateYou3 The standard edition is 20$. The starter is 15$. Both editions were incredibly cheap during the last sale. You don't really ever need any of the DLC ops beside Echo or Hibana, as they give intel and hard breaching. Some of the worst operators are DLC operators. It usually takes me a week or two to gain enough renown for one operator.
@@AbcIHateYou3 Huh, it is $40. I am just used to seeing it on sale all the time. Still, this game has a lot of content and more to come. I never said they aren't important, and I love them for it, as they all bring something new to the game, which keeps the game fresh and gives me something to spend my renown on. I have them all, so I just save up for next season. Yet, I only play a few on a steady basis. You don't need every operator in the game, and by the time you get comfortable with one, you'll have enough to buy the next. My only concern is how daunting the learning curve can be for new players. Siege has a pretty fair microtransaction system if you compare it to many other games.
@@AbcIHateYou3 A friend of mine had bought the starter edition and clocked in about 400 hours so far, never regretting his purchase. If some of my statements seem incoherent, it is because it's midnight here. I still dont think the grind for operators is that bad, and is an acceptable alternative to them being strictly paid DLC. A smart move was that everyone gets to play on new maps regardless if they pay or not. I see what your issue is here, and it has it's points, but Siege is a decent example of how to do AAA multiplayer games mostly right.
Patriots: - antagonists with actual motives - social and political commentary - tries to tell a proper story Siege: - character classes to monetize a non f2p game and perpetuate content - a “competitive” game with lots of visual noise, lack of readability and a sound system that doesn’t work most the time - shallow characters with little development - is not played like a tactical shooter - no campaign (but have another game that has Counter terrorists fighting zombies) Siege is not a bad game but we lost so much to get it and no time soon will we see anything resembling a proper tactical shooter like Raven Shield from Ubisoft, apparently it is just too niche to justify making a game like that.
I absolutely agree with you. Siege is awsome, but is not a Rainbow Six game. A "Raven Shield" game is a MUST to save Rainbow Six. But I'm Hopeful that it will not stay a F2P forever !
I wouldn't mind if Siege could coexist alongside another traditional Rainbow game, but they just won't do it. They'd think it'd detract from their cash cow Siege. So basically we won't get another true Rainbow game because they'd rather keep Siege going or do a Siege 2 like Overwatch 2.
Watchdogs was heavily downgraded and have awful protagonist? Fine AC: Unity was a broken mess of a game? I let it slide Rayman became a freemium mobile game? Close, but i can move on. Patriots got cancelled? I'll never forgive Ubi for that one
I'm sorry, but can we quit with this wanking off "OMG PATRIOTS WOULD HAVE BEEN AMAZING!" like, story concept wise it might have been good, key word MIGHT, but if the gameplay is shit and badly made you cannot just flag the story and hope to get a free pass.
Kanashe But you don’t know exactly how the gameplay would have been. Game development-especially of the triple-A variety-is an incredibly iterative process. From the looks of it, the gameplay shown here wasn’t even a Beta build of the game. The narrative I would like to see stopped is that we should be thankful that we got R6: Siege instead of Patriots. Why should we be thankful for getting a game that was hot garbage upon release; a game that was very clearly (and cynically) designed to easily cash-in on a trend by hijacking an already established IP? I’m sure Siege is a great game now, if the heaps of praise that are thrown upon it are any indication thereof. But I, for one, still would have rather had a single-player focused tactical shooter and I know that I’m not alone in that.
and Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia and Driver and Rayman and... Ubisoft should just being bought by a company who actually care enough about gaming and gaming industry to enough money and resources to make games that do justice to these wonderful franchises Ubisoft should either die with its current shape or be bought by someone else
This could have been one of the most awesome and original fps of the last years......what a shame! R6 siege is a great game but that story....that campaign could kick everyone's ass!
How would it have been original? It looked like it would have been more of R6 vegas type of gameplay that we'd already seen multiple times before. What originality?
Eonymia if you talk about originality and put R6 Siege on your plate than you are doing it wrong my friend...... Destructible environment? Battlefield. Fps mechanics? Just like COD but slightly improved. Terrorist? Bombs? Hostage? Counter Strike. Entering in the house like a badass jumping from the roof, down the wall and inside the room? The other Tom Clancy' Rainbow Six videogames. The only 'original' thing is that every operator has his own abilities. Siege is a great game don't misunderstand me (it's the ONLY current fps I also like to watch), but if you talk about originality this is the wrong game my friend. The only game that actually was an improvement on the shooter scenario was Titanfall.......which is going to get raped as EA now owns Respawn :/ Oh, and btw when I was talking about originality I was referring mainly to the story/plot. P.s.: also the gameplay of patriots looked a little more original than the previous ones. And those were just the early gameplay footage. R6 Siege also sucked dicks at the beginning. Now imagine if a game like patriot had the same treatment with the same great support/improvements ;)
Read my comments again. Try to find the word Siege in there. The early gameplay for patriots didn't show anything that hadn't been seen in the series before, so there goes the gameplay part anyway. As far as story goes, I'll give you that, it was an interesting scenario they laid out, but does switching out international terrorists for domestic ones make for "one of the most awesome and original fps of the last years"? I don't think so. I was really looking forward to Patriots, but in hindsight I'm worried it would have been basically R6V3. Nothing wrong with that, but it would have gotten stale pretty fast. Siege managed to breathe new life to the franchise by abandoning most of the stuff prepped for patriots and became extremely succesful, and I doubt a story-driven single player fps would have had the same effect if it didn't take huge notes from as far back as the first 3 Rainbow6 games.
+gjD4NT3 there are no truly new ideas anymore, they've all been thought up. Using old things in new combination or a new way can still be an 'original' concept. The patriot's story line can be torn apart in the same way, Spec ops: the line did it first so it's not original.
Did you watch the video? Politics challenge its existence yes but that was far from the reason it didn't come out. It was more the technical constraints at the time coupled with the instability of dev team working on the game which kept Patriots from coming out. This on top of the change in hardware they were aiming to release on (ie jump from ps3 and 360 to ps4 and xbone) killed that game. A clean slate was the most logical option at that point in time.
And yet they encourage you to fight people from other countries but when it comes to domestic terrorist everyone would want the game banned even though it would've been something different and something we never would have seen before
the R6 series died with the release of Lockdown and will get buried with the release of Outbreak. Siege is a good game and I can't wait to play the new operation but it has nothing to do with his predecessors so for me it is not a real R6 game
Same, it should have been it's own IP. Now that it's done so well due to the simple minded masses of younger gamers, we'll probably NEVER see a true to form Rainbow Six again. Siege is such a pathetic excuse for a Rainbow Six game.
Simple minded? I own every R6 game, have you played an older one recently? You are just blindly fanboying if you actually think that Siege is more "simple minded" than the old r6 games. Its laughable comparing older tactical single player shooters to a game where the tactics come from dealing with real humans rather than ancient awful AI. The golden age of simple games for the young masses was in the past, when the best Nintendo party games came out.
Yeah that's great except no one actually plays Siege tactically, and realistically, and to say that they do you'd be full of shit. I can admit that the game has some strategy involved, and it does take skill to play it, but to call it a tactical shooter, is also laughable.
Patriots was one of the last games I was excited for. It still pisses me off that they cancelled it and then released Seige... Haven't played Seige and don't intend to any time soon. I can't stand multiplayer-only games.
They complain about this game but, Activision made No Russian, and Hollywood followed with domestic terrorists conspiracy movies. That was the dumbest decision Ubisoft made. And from that decision their games quality started to decline besides The Division games
They had a great concept, actively worked on it to flesh it out and then boom; live services came to mind. Siege is a solid multiplayer, the only thing that ruins that game's concept is that CTUs go against CTUs when it should be CTUs vs Terrorists.
God I hope this project still exists internally because there's still so much potential to the premise, especially with what's been going on in the world.
I sure as fuck would’ve preferred this game (that has an actual story and puts the player into the environments of the gritty tom clancy books) over siege (no story, but puts player in less gritty environments).
Remember what they took from you R6 Patriots dying for R6 Siege is a massive disgusting moment R6 Siege isn't even a R6 game, it's such a massive departure from the R6 series in tone, it should have just been called Siege and the Tom Clancy label removed from it
I much would've preferred another great single player focused Rainbow Six game than yet another grindy always online multiplayer one. Ubisoft in general is pretty boring these days with their online focus and releasing the same tedious giant open world stuff. Great vid.
>great Big overstatement. Nothing in the revealed material looked particulary great, even that strange "not actual gameplay footage", the story (at least the one we have any knowledge about) offered nothing more then the usual "muh ripped from the headlines!" stuff, it might have reached Spec Ops The Line level at best. The engine, as the video explains, was a major problem for the game that used it and the team was tired of doing scripted RAMIREZ BREACH THE DOOR, bored by their own game and wanted to do something else instead (which they did). It would not have been great title, it somply couldn't have been. If you want for an analogy, think Need for speed Undercover.
Genome Soldat A game with less hollywood-esque cinematic drama and more tactical operations like R6 1. But i guess that will never happen, AAA games are all about hollywood-like cinematic dramas. The worst outcome is us getting another Call of Duty clone disguised as Rainbow Six.
This would have been the only Ubisoft game I'd have played since Prince of Persia 2008. This was right up my alley. I wish David Cage would talk to these guys and get their blessing to do his take on Patriots.
This was a good video. I'm a fan of R6S, but I wonder (I have seen the trailer back in the day for patriots) what R6P could have been if it did get a release. It looked and sounded very interesting in idea and gameplay. Too sad some people caused controversy...
God forbid they make a game showing patriots in a good light at the time the game parroted the BS narrative the government and media were pushing that essentially anyone that didn't tow the democrat party line were all terrorists and that veterans and people who favored third party candidates are the biggest terror threat the DHS secretary actually sent that memo out
I was very excited for this game. It was taking a narrative step forward that is really not seen. Very few movies, tv shows, or books ever go this far in a close to home narrative like Patriots was trying to do.
could you do a rise and fall of the homefront series i know there have only been 2 games but i was devistated when they canceled all of the multiplayer servers on console
Thanks its good to know what happened as a RS single player old school fan I was excited for Patriots and when it dissapeared I search the internet for clues and could not find nothing at the time, then RS SIEGE only multiplayer, its sad for me that online games are trendy
I know I’m super late to this video but now being in 2022 I believe this game should be made now due to the fact that we’ve now had Splinter Cell Blacklist, Ready Or Not and Call Of Duty Modern warfare (2019) that both really delved into terrorism domestic and abroad. I’ve recently replayed Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and honestly preferred the style of that game more than siege (this coming from someone who’s played rainbow six siege since the open beta) my opinion is that patriots perfectly fits in this day and age now with the new consoles and the more people seeking a more tactical fps instead of just a remake of the predecessor.
Huh... I would've wanted to play Patriots. But I haven't and still don't have any plan to play Seige. If I'm doing a multiplayer game, I'm a more casual type. Maybe having a team actually play the objective would be nice, but, eh... I got tired of kids screaming over their mics ten years ago.
SkuzzyJ siege is all kids and teammates that moan at you all the time... they complain about fighting your own country in patriots but yet you get team killed all the time because you took someone’s operator
I would like to see The Rise and Fall of Thief | Documentary and its legacy on modern gaming such as Dishonored, Burial at Sea Episode 2 etc. You should also do The Rise and Fall of Looking Glass Studios | Documentary.
Patriots would have been a real game changer in terms of fps stories. Such a shame.

Patriots:
- antagonists with actual motives
- social and political commentary
- tries to tell a proper story
Siege:
- character classes to monetize a non f2p game and perpetuate content
- a “competitive” game with lots of visual noise, lack of readability and a sound system that doesn’t work most the time
- shallow characters with little development
- is not played like a tactical shooter
- no campaign (but have another game that has Counter terrorists fighting zombies)
Siege is not a bad game but we lost so much to get it and no time soon will we see anything resembling a proper tactical shooter like Raven Shield from Ubisoft, apparently it is just too niche to justify making a game like that.
I absolutely agree with you.
Siege is awsome, but is not a Rainbow Six game.
A "Raven Shield" game is a MUST to save Rainbow Six.
But I'm Hopeful that it will not stay a F2P forever !
@Deathtrooper204 if it fits their narratives basically yes but in end everything is political nowadays
Politics bad
Now fat ladies killing some weird clowns with road spikes and blowtorches
I wouldn't mind if Siege could coexist alongside another traditional Rainbow game, but they just won't do it. They'd think it'd detract from their cash cow Siege. So basically we won't get another true Rainbow game because they'd rather keep Siege going or do a Siege 2 like Overwatch 2.
Watchdogs was heavily downgraded and have awful protagonist? Fine
AC: Unity was a broken mess of a game? I let it slide
Rayman became a freemium mobile game? Close, but i can move on.
Patriots got cancelled? I'll never forgive Ubi for that one
the game is lame dude would rather have siege than this shit
siege is really good dont regret buying it should of bought it a long time ago
Henry Rahardja watch dogs is actaully good
I'm sorry, but can we quit with this wanking off "OMG PATRIOTS WOULD HAVE BEEN AMAZING!" like, story concept wise it might have been good, key word MIGHT, but if the gameplay is shit and badly made you cannot just flag the story and hope to get a free pass.
We need a Rainbow Six like the old ones
Rainbow Six: Patreons
AjronX that be interesting. If Ubisoft set up a Patreon to fund the next game.
Pay more to not receive downgrade
Wish we get a real rainbow game again
and Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia and Driver and Rayman and...
Ubisoft should just being bought by a company who actually care enough about gaming and gaming industry to enough money and resources to make games that do justice to these wonderful franchises
Ubisoft should either die with its current shape or be bought by someone else
Love your vids. keep em coming
And then they threw hicks in and called it Far Cry 5.
I don't really see the connection other than the US setting. Far Cry 5 is about a cult, not a political group.
Domestic terrorists.
Matthew Durkin cult of Trumpers

Well it was right wing “patriots” who were bitching about this game.

To be honest, I would’ve preferred Patriots to Siege.
Everyone above the age of 15 when Siege came out would have preferred Patriots. You are not alone.
No way
I too was excited for Rainbow 6 La li lu lei lo
patriots reminds me of SWAT 4
Get good
This could have been one of the most awesome and original fps of the last years......what a shame! R6 siege is a great game but that story....that campaign could kick everyone's ass!
How would it have been original? It looked like it would have been more of R6 vegas type of gameplay that we'd already seen multiple times before. What originality?
I'm not saying it wouldn't have been good, but that's not what I asked.
The only game that actually was an improvement on the shooter scenario was Titanfall.......which is going to get raped as EA now owns Respawn :/
Oh, and btw when I was talking about originality I was referring mainly to the story/plot.
So politics "again" ruined a game developments ...
No the dumb ass 13year old community and money ruined the series :(
Let's not forget the elite wanted less threat to their power
Sure did smh
And yet they encourage you to fight people from other countries but when it comes to domestic terrorist everyone would want the game banned even though it would've been something different and something we never would have seen before
the R6 series died with the release of Lockdown and will get buried with the release of Outbreak.
Siege is a good game and I can't wait to play the new operation but it has nothing to do with his predecessors so for me it is not a real R6 game
I remember having my first time witnessing Patriots, I was in awe, but after many years, I was sad to not see more trailers.
I actually hated when siege came out...
If Siege just dropped the Rainbow Six name and was just Siege, I'd be a lot happier.
You are a joke if you let the name of a game make you unhappy. If it bothers you so much just don't look at the box snowflake.
Why siege is bassically all i ever played in the firstvr6 games that mansion level
Patriots looks more new gen than siege does
Absolutely love this channel! Keep it up the amazing work guys!
Rainbow 6 siege : biggest bait and switch ever
"Eh, I'm tired of Rainbow fighting international terrorists in the same formula," said no one ever.
This game was ahead of its time
watching the new breakpoint mediorce crap got me thinking about this game and you did a great job on your presentation, new sub
Same with the wierd ass Quarantine shit
How relatable the story of the campaign is to our society now 😪
Wowie, almost as if no one did it ever before
Bruh how?
Capitol Hill Insurrection: *you got that right!*
13:72 team patriots vs team mercs (splinter cell!!!)
Patriots was one of the last games I was excited for. It still pisses me off that they cancelled it and then released Seige... Haven't played Seige and don't intend to any time soon. I can't stand multiplayer-only games.
Awesome vid guys. I was eagerly waiting for Patriots' launch and never got answers as to why it was canned.
Make Patriots as Siege's Co-Op DLC, as a "Respect" for their "Father".
I recently discovered this channel and I absolutely love the videos. Already subscribed.
Please keep on posting more videos!
They complain about this game but, Activision made No Russian, and Hollywood followed with domestic terrorists conspiracy movies. That was the dumbest decision Ubisoft made. And from that decision their games quality started to decline besides The Division games
It's 2021 and I still have the game informer special magazine featuring R6 Patriots
This has aged like fine wine.
Incredible how relevant this is now
The fuck are you two talking about??
SUCH A GREAT VIDEO. It was oddly beautiful and now I am officially subbed!
They had a great concept, actively worked on it to flesh it out and then boom; live services came to mind. Siege is a solid multiplayer, the only thing that ruins that game's concept is that CTUs go against CTUs when it should be CTUs vs Terrorists.
This channel deserves more! Seriously
Wow this hits a lot different now
God I hope this project still exists internally because there's still so much potential to the premise, especially with what's been going on in the world.
I fucking *love* this channel.

Darude - Sandstorm
I sure as fuck would’ve preferred this game (that has an actual story and puts the player into the environments of the gritty tom clancy books) over siege (no story, but puts player in less gritty environments).
Don't worry folks, Ready or Not is coming 2018.
amen

HAH
lol
Nope
Remember what they took from you
R6 Patriots dying for R6 Siege is a massive disgusting moment
R6 Siege isn't even a R6 game, it's such a massive departure from the R6 series in tone, it should have just been called Siege and the Tom Clancy label removed from it
I loved Vegas so much.
This one still fucking stings to this very day
still breaks my heart to this day
So much truth about this... great video!
I miss a proper Tom Clancy singleplayer story game
i just started playing Ghost Recon: Wildlands....its very good
@@fireWireX4 Well that's a rather unpopular opinion, but hey, you like it, it's fine by me
@@ArcturusOTE
Wildlands is a very liked game.
Awesome as always, much more polished as well! :)
I much would've preferred another great single player focused Rainbow Six game than yet another grindy always online multiplayer one. Ubisoft in general is pretty boring these days with their online focus and releasing the same tedious giant open world stuff. Great vid.
>great
Big overstatement.
Pavel Skrylnikov Couldnt have said it better
Genome Soldat A game with less hollywood-esque cinematic drama and more tactical operations like R6 1.
But i guess that will never happen, AAA games are all about hollywood-like cinematic dramas. The worst outcome is us getting another Call of Duty clone disguised as Rainbow Six.
Conta da Familia because gunning down dudes on a bridge is "tactical".
Genome Soldat Well it seems you never played siege at all because the game is much more than that. It's much more unique than other shooters.
YES I’ve waited a long time for this.
Please do Team Fortress Brotherhoods of Arm and Invasion.
0:32 Goddamn, good old Raven Shield. This was the shit on our local LANs and in Coop.
This would have been the only Ubisoft game I'd have played since Prince of Persia 2008.
This was right up my alley. I wish David Cage would talk to these guys and get their blessing to do his take on Patriots.
rainbow six vegas 1 and 2 was amzing i was soo looking forward to Rainbow 6: Patriots but got siege WTF
14:47 well i'm glad ya used bandit, he's the most badass character in siege, wonder how he would be if he is a character in patriots,
I would love an RB6 turn-based-tactics game! Any chance of that ever?
This was a good video. I'm a fan of R6S, but I wonder (I have seen the trailer back in the day for patriots) what R6P could have been if it did get a release. It looked and sounded very interesting in idea and gameplay. Too sad some people caused controversy...
Vegas and Vegas 2 need to be remastered.
dude ur voice is like liquid gold...subscribed
Patriots was gonna hit too close to home.....
iq2992 ahhhh I see what you did there
i think thats why it was cancelled for being to political
God forbid they make a game showing patriots in a good light at the time the game parroted the BS narrative the government and media were pushing that essentially anyone that didn't tow the democrat party line were all terrorists and that veterans and people who favored third party candidates are the biggest terror threat the DHS secretary actually sent that memo out
A terrorist is a terrorist. I honestly couldn't care less that they were American, I would've still enjoyed taking them out.
Kohlton Miller One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter
I was very excited for this game. It was taking a narrative step forward that is really not seen. Very few movies, tv shows, or books ever go this far in a close to home narrative like Patriots was trying to do.
could you do a rise and fall of the homefront series i know there have only been 2 games but i was devistated when they canceled all
of the multiplayer servers on console
Thanks its good to know what happened as a RS single player old school fan I was excited for Patriots and when it dissapeared I search the internet for clues and could not find nothing at the time, then RS SIEGE only multiplayer, its sad for me that online games are trendy
Man i love the single player shooter, there's nothing like it.
hopefully "Ready or Not" will make a truly interesting tactical SWAT game
9:48 No option to Beep Wife? :(
13:50 Real life Tank Class! :O
Top notch as always!
It’s almost like the average gamer doesn’t want to think and wants brain dead pvp with anime super power operators
bro ubisoft is nothing but a business and they succeeded in business. They chose the bigger audience to entertain and kick out their original fans.
They could still save Patriots, by adapting it into a Netflix movie/series...
Felt like a missed opportunity to not turn it into a novel
It was a genuinely missed opportunity
David Sears from Socom was on board.......this could have been a master piece.

I don't care weather you're a PC gamer, or console gamer. I think all of us true rainbow six fans can safely say FUCK siege.
