- When these two heavyweight supercars lined up alongside one another I was pretty excited to see what would happen, when they were on the line and both engaged launch control it got even more exciting, the only problem was that the F12 was a bit late off the line giving the Aventador time to blast away.
Either way, it sounds pretty epic with the two Italian V12s blasting away!
The event was being run by Vmax200 on the airstrip / vmax200

I like how everyone thinks that the Ferrari is as slow as a Honda Civic. CLEARLY, that driver didn't punch it, and Im sure he only had the throttle half down that entire race...

Someone asking the right question, I think it was too hard to know the exact time to start and the F12 driver clearly just engaged his launch control; it certainly would have been interesting to see.

I like all of these butthurt Ferrari fans talking about the LaFerrari and the Enzo. Those cars are way ahead of the Aventador in price and power. The F12 is as close as you'll get between an Aventador and any Ferrari, and clearly the Aventador is the winner. Just wait until Lambo brings out their new car that is on the same level as the LaFerrari (having both a petrol and electronic motor) and then we'll see how your beloved LaFerrari holds up.
Don't get me wrong though, Ferrari make some wickedly fast cars, just not as fast as Lambo (when talking the same price/power range).
Sorry but you are horribly mistaken. The only reason the Lambo pulls ahead is simply down to its AWD system. The Ferrari starts to overtake as the weight of the Lambo becomes greater at higher speed. Now if you see other videos on youtube, you'll see the Lambo being left behind.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore Lambo fan but since Lambo is now owned by VW, the cars are more focused on looking good and being safe to drive. The loony day's of Lambo are gone. Ferrari will always be Ferrari and that's the truth.
Lambo unveiled a hybrid super car and have already said it won't make production. McLaren/Ferrari/Porsche are way ahead in this game. Lambo still haven't really caught up under VW supervision and most probably won't. That's the sad truth!
pardeepbhachu The AWD of the Lambo is what put it ahead, yes, but that's like saying that the Ferrari pulls ahead at higher speeds because of its weight. You can't just ignore the fact that the car is faster in acceleration because of how it was designed.
Lambos have always looked amazing, and yeah sure, they're more about safety now, but they've also got better systems, which means that they're faster, too, just not as insane (the good kind of insane), and Ferrari has changed as much as Lambo has since they've been bought out, except for the AWD into Lambos, but if you ask me, that makes the car better in all regards.
Also, the top speed of the F12 is the same as the Lambo, yet it's a lighter car, has better aerodynamics and a bigger engine, you can't tell me that they've built the F12 better than the Aventador, but I imagine that I can't tell you that the Aventador was built better than the F12, either.

Dan Visan I'll admit, the driver wasn't the best in the world, but the numbers will back me up. The Aventador does 0-100 (0-62) in 2.9 seconds, and the F12 does it in 3 seconds. The Aventador does the 1/4 mile in 10.2 seconds, and the F12 in 10.6 seconds, and the Aventador has a top speed of 354 kp/h, while the F12 is 345 kp/h.
There's more to commenting on racing videos than being butthurt about your Ferraris.

Plain fucking unfair! The Ferrari's brakes hadn't been released in time.
Even if the f12 driver had pressed the pedal at the same time, The Aventador still wins, because the Aventador has an AWD system (the f12 is RWD system) and it goes 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, while the f12 does that in 3.1 seconds. Also the Aventador has a higher top speed, 217 while the f12 is 211 mph, even if they raced on track, The aventador has a better handling than the f12. But if the f12 raced with the aventador on a rolling start, the f12 would win in. But to be honest, i love these two cars, they are one of the best looking cars in my opinion. But the fact is that the Aventador is quicker than the f12. But if i got one of these two cars i'd be the happiest person on the planet.
Edit: Scratch all that, F12 is quicker than the Aventador due to it having more power, lighter and faster gearbox.

Ahmad Galal Okay in a drag race like this, the Aventador gets off the line first but because it is heavier and less aerodynamic than the F12, the F12 will catch it and overtake it and the go on to win the race. The F12 has 30 more horsepower to go to the wheels remember.

Was the guy on the F12 high?
I believe so. The F12 has 40hp more and weighs 50Kg less than the Aventador, but both have 690nm of torque, one is four wheel drive and the other is not. So I think in the short distances the Aventador will always have the upper hand thanks for its four-wheel drive but in long distances the F12 is unbeatable thanks to its rear wheel drive, more horses and low weight.

The lamborghini is a beautiful 700 horse power pure italian drivers car. The F12 is an insane car but its way to technology dependent. I mean the computers are always changing little things about the car to make it go even faster. Thats all cool and stuff but when I buy a Hypercar like one of those I would rather have the lamborghini because its just me my car and the road. No fancy computers changing the car as I drive or stuff like that . I think cars where you actually have to focus on the car and you having to do all the work to make it go to its limits and really push it to get the fastest times are the best to own

Despite the fact that I'm a Lambo lover, I have to recognize something : the F12 is more powerful in drag race conditions. Lighter, 740cv (+40 compared to the bull). You can search the other race of the two beasts and see by yourself who's the best. However, the Aventador has a better acceleration, and this is what we saw here, even though the horse pilot messed up the start
Gotta love the kids saying "F12 could beat the aventador" or "Aventador only wins because of the AWD". Yes. Lambo only wins because of the AWD. And if it had RWD Ferrari would win only because it's lighter and has 50 more horsepower. It's always "only because" and Ferrari could have gone with AWD in the first place if they wanted, but they didn't. So the Lambo is faster. All the fuss about Lambo's oversteer - Ferrari is by design a front engined car, which makes it more like an Italian muscle car than a proper European sports car. It can't handle much better than the Aventador.
Now not to make all the Lambo fanboys wet, it's still impressive how guys at Lambo managed to get worse weight distribution out of a mid engined car than Ferrari got out of a front engined car. Not to mention the Aventador's weight and price, it's the fattest and the most expensive supercar. And they horribly need to place that engine slightly more to the front.
My opinion? Aventador horribly lacks proper engineering and price, but that shit can be fixed with future gens, while I can't see any bright future for the F12 at all. To be anything more than a Ferrari muscle car it should be completely redesigned.

The F12 can never win because it is RWD and the Aventador is AWD. By the time the F12 gets traction, the Aventador will be gone.

I feel as though the Aventador would've won anyways, based on 0-60 time comparison, but this was shameful towards the F12. The F12 is one amazing car and, although I am an Aventador fan, I don't think the F12 should've lost that badly. This race needs a re-do with proper starts.

i have yet see any F12 run better then 11.00@134mph...each of these two gorgeous cars has it's strong and weak points...from a roll the F12 will win and has ( GTBOARD.COM )...not from a launch though...ROAD & TRACK tested a 2012 aventador ; 0-60mph in 2.7 sec...100mph in 5.8...120mph in 8.1...1/4 mile of 10.4@136mph...the drag race will belong to the LP700 if the driver isn't the same type who drove this F12...even with a better driver the lamborghini would have taken this..drag race to lamborghini..roll race to ferrari.

i have not seen any stock F12 run low-to mid 10's before in a drag race..i have heard some stories about how gustav hates lamborghini's, then a few weeks ago, he admitted it on his 31 minute video..i always thought that maybe ferrari paid gustav off to make there new F12 look great, though i have no proof on this..sadly.

The aventador is superior in every way , looks, top speed, acceleration and even though it's got 40 less horse power it still a manages to beat the f12 , Aventador 0-60 2.9 , :F12 0-60 3.1 top speed aventador 217 and f12 211 and no offense ferrari but if u look at the front of the f12 it looks like a creepy man with braces smiling weird while the aventador simply has a pair of head light that look like vicious eyes starting right through you

I am slowly resenting lambo. Their cars are now just kid bedroom posters, though I still do like the aventador and hurucan. Ferrari is art, and faster than lambo, just wait until the special 75th anniversary car they make.
"Faster than lambo". Is that why it lost? I know it's because the launch didn't go well but if it's faster it should've been able to catch up, or at least finished closer. And it's wrong to think ferraris are not on children's walls.

the LP720-4 top speed was reported at 220mph...less weight and more hp...LP700-4 does 60mph in 2.7..100mph in 5,8..10.4@136mph in the 1/4...not a La Ferrari fan, but love the 458...did that german magazine push a stock LP700 to that speed...that would be incredible as it's rated at 217mph..props for knowing that :)
The LaFerrari is a different class of hypercar. It is not classed as an Aventador rival. Why are you comparing the two? The rival of the Aventador is the Ferrari F12 as depicted in this video. Had the Ferrari driver not messed up the start there, the Ferrari wouldn't have been far behind. After all, it's only four tenths of a second slower than the Aventador from 0-60.

No matter what, the Lamborghini would have pulled away. After the launch, the Lamborghini did not have any problems pulling away so your assumptions are entirely incorrect.
The Ferrari launched almost a second after the Lambo did, at high speed, that second translates into a lot of yards, so the difference is really smaller than it seems.
The Aventador does a quarter mile in 10.2 s @ 136 mph and the F12 in 10.6 s @ 137 mph..
Only 0.4 seconds, and the F12 reaches a higher speed.
So it's pretty close, if the F12 has a slightly better driver, it wins

It's because of the Aventador's All Wheel Drive. AWD systems deliver better traction off the line than RWD. The F12 is RWD. But of course, as the speed rises, the lighter and more powerful F12 will start to catch up and then overtake the Lambo. The F12 is also better around tracks because you can brake very late and throw it into corners harder than the heavier Aventador. And so ultimately, the Ferrari F12 does a better lap time than the Lambo even if it's beaten from 0-60 by that Lambo.
So u think that AWD doesn't help in rolling start?...

recently MOTOR TREND newsletter showed a road test between a F12 vs STINGRAY Z51 vs 911 CARRERA S4...the F12 managed a 0-60mph in 3.6 and a 1/4 mile of 11.3@131mph...MOTER TREND sends out this letter to showcase an upcoming issue that entire story will be in...last time i looked, AVENTADOR's were in the low 10's :)
Acceleration yes, on 0-100 the Veneno will destroy a Laferrai, but it's the contrary for the 0-200 (and for the 0-300), the Veneno will be far behind.
On a long dragrace the Laferrari will eat a Veneno. The real rival of the Laferrari is the P1.

for your information i found a source regarding this, u can look it up on fastlaps- it states that the f12 does 0-250 in 13.9 sec and the aventador my friend takes 14.4 sec to reach 250 kph i hope u really have a good day now!

it's a 2y.o. vid. but... as we see it all about EXPERIENCE. I've seen the F12 clean the 700-4's clock, but I think AWD really will always have the advantage.
both cars are fast. But concider that the F12 has 40 more hp and 50kg lighter than the Aventador. One thing more, the Aventador is all wheel drive while the F12 is rear wheel drive. so this makes the Aventador faster in short distances but in long distances the F12 flies away! i think on track it will be really interesting t see which will first cross the finish line!
I respect Lamborghini a lot more based on the fact that Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted to help Ferrari, but he said his ideas were horrible and now the Lamborhini is more iconic and better engendered than the Ferrari. Although it does help the Lamborghini having a all wheel drive system the F12 still wouldn't beat the Aventador in a drag race.
Ok, but as I said, the Aventador is AWD and has maybe the best launch control out of all the exotics. It wouldn't have mattered.
