Let me know if you know anything more about the VGC 2009 version of Battle Revolution!! If you were a 2009 VGC-er, I'm particularly interested to know how exactly you set up your teams for this - was it all from the DS battle mode, or did you and your competitors link up your DSes to make Battle Passes first before the battles? I'm particularly fascinated by this and wish there was more info out there!

I believe the current art director for sw/sh (James Turner) worked on battle revolution at some point, we could hit him up about it but I'm not sure if he'll even be able respond

Matt, I can not even start to explain how disappointed I am that you changed the clock for this hunt, that's cheating, you're ripping this family apart.
I actually love these types of videos - allows for a shiny reaction that isn’t 2 minutes long and extremely boring while also giving interesting trivia and narration about lost / not well known tidbits of Pokémon info and lore - excited for more to come!
I'm sorry, but don't expect this to become the norm for me! I still find great merit in shiny videos that are just shiny videos because it brings me back to the point in time when I got it. That being said, when I have a little extra to talk about for the hunt I'm doing, definitely expect more of these every now and then

I've been really enjoying how your recent shiny videos have integrated little tidbits of niche Pokemon knowledge - it feels like every time I learn something new. Like these are topics you won't even see covered in Pokemon fact videos that are dedicated to being obscure. Real bottom of the iceberg stuff. It's really good! (Although glad to see you're not pushing yourself to make it the norm.) It definitely inspires ideas about how to innovate with shiny reaction videos
it's very interesting that there's so many surprises and secrets about the particular Pokemon Platinum forms for Pokemon Battle Revolution , like since this was never brought to the US and only in this particular VGC competition in 2009 , i would like to see why this was never even brought up at all , i guess the world may never know at all ...
I have the slightest feeling that the new Platinum forms weren't modeled and so they were all banned so no one could even attempt to use any of them.

The Platinum forms were banned from the battle tower too as to not have an unfair advantage from receiving the event. It's likely to be modeled, but banned for this reason.
@@Elegant_Owl That also makes sense. However if it was already banned in the battle tower then I seriously doubt that the were modeled, it would be completly pointless to do so. If you could force them in they would either A) Keep their new stats and everything else but keep the normal form model. Or B) They would just switch back to their normal forms regardless.
@@ShadowPKMNcz I made this discovery that attempting to transfer any of the Rotom forms to PBR will have it reverted back into it's Base form.
I didn’t know Rotom only appeared at night, whenever I got to Rotom in Platinum the first time I was playing at like 9 PM so I just assumed they showed up whenever
Man, that Pokémon Platine (honhon baguette) has been really generous in shiny odds hasn't it? Congrats on Motisma/Rothomas! (If I'm not mistaken, "Motisma" comes from "moteur" ("engine") and "plasma" (also-self-explanatory).
The Platinum outfits in BR are really facinating for how obscure they are. They're technically lost media too, which makes them even more enticing and ~mysterious~. Really hoping, whether it's a patch or a whole other build of the game that went unreleased for whatever reason, it ends up being leaked online like the GS Spaceworld '97 and '99 demos and all of the beta DP stuff. The Wii couldn't really patch games as far as I remember, so it may be a revision that never got released due to not being worth it. Whatever it is, I'm really glad you brought the topic to light! It's a really intriguing mystery.
If Pokémon Battle Revolution ever got a remaster on the Switch, the Platinum update should be included as well. This content should be released for the public to see! If Genius Sonority ever decides to make this a reality (along with Pokémon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness remasters with extra content), that would be awesome!
This is the first I've heard of the shiny costumes in Battle Revolution! That seems like an interesting hunt
After 20k on single console I gave up this hunt. Thanks for giving me a bit of motivation again, congratz on the shiny!

Grats on the Rotom! I love your videos so much. Been rewatching lately again. You really know how to communicate all the interesting mysteries in Pokemon while still keeping the passion and nostalgia for it. Just a nice reminder of how special these games all are in their own ways.

You know, the disks containing the distribution data for some of the PCNY events for Gens 2 and 3 in the early 2000s were actually recovered AND RESTORED. If that can happen, who's to say the same won't happen here?
Oh my god... Battle revolution was amazing! Yes, maybe it lacked the cups and mini games of the old stadium games, but... come on, it was still a beautiful game. I loved doing random battles there and seeing my shiny mons in all of their 3D glory.

There's also an unused music track in PBR, and unused avatars for both Red and Leaf, all in the base game.

It’s a mod for his ds. He unplugs it because he doesn’t want to control them all at once at that point.

In terms of battle revolution, I'm just as interested in the modded version that twitch plays Pokemon uses that has the Pokemon stadium announcer and models. Would be amazing to get a hold of that mod

reading Rotom's French type as electer-specter is kinda fun
My favourite piece of obscure knowledge relating to Gen 4 is the Diamond/Pearl Battle Pokédex used for the TCG from Diamond&Pearl to legends awakened. What’s notable is that it has all Cross generation evolutions together, but randomly moves Aipom, Shuckle and Qwilfish around in Gen 2, and moves Girafarig all the way to after Gastrodon for no discernible reason
Rotom is my favorite Pokemon and I've been shiny hunting it foreverrrrrrr

I was here for so much of the Rotom hunt, hitting 20k hurt
Pbr is such a mystery, i have only seen one time someone getting that got the shiny groudom outfit and still that was relatively recently, i never knew about those outfits and let alone if the models are real that was 2 gens of difference until we got 3d models for the rotom appliances

Hardcore shiny hunters look for a shiny Rotom for each appliance as well as the base form

I'd imagine they never made models for the platinum forms if they were banned. Though that doesn't explain why they went through with adding the platinum outfits.
Perhaps the outfits were worked on first because they were easier to get working (because a simple cosmetic change is probably easier to get working than whole new Pokémon forms, which have far more variables to work with), and either they weren’t satisfied with how the new forms were working or they didn’t want to risk breaking the game mid-tourney because of unexpected bugs.
Either that or they realized some Diamond or Pearl players would be there and wouldn’t have access to the Platinum forms, so this was a way to keep the playing field more even.
Specter type sounds way cooler than ghost.

So I've always wondered this and never managed to find an answer, but how does Absol reset multiple ds' without pressing the buttons? I always found it super uncomfortable reseting multiple ds' and wasn't sure how others can do it so easily. Sorry if this had been explained before. Great video overall!
