The first time I ever heard of Taylor Hawkins was when I saw him drum for Alanis back in the 90s. It was one of those shows where I ended up watching him more than the person I (thought) paid to see.

I was there and was amazed by her continued backward pacing…. She was awesome but I was way too concerned about her falling over backwards. She’s a pro!!

I saw her live August 2021 and not only was I impressed with the backwards walking at one point she spun in a circle like a five year old trying to get dizzy and then TOOK OFF WALKING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. I was literally shocked. I could never. I would have fallen off the stage🤷🏼‍♂️

When I was a kid in the 80's I saw Chad Smith play with a band named Toby Redd in Detroit. They were a local act at the time that many would go see along with Bitter Sweet Alley and The Almighty Strut. I was lucky to know the drummer from Almighty Strut (Gunner Ross - who went on to play with Ted Nugent). As a drummer, back then I LOVED the way Chad attacked the drums and wanted to be that good . . . . I'm 54 now and I've become less a drummer and more a husband, father, veteran, social worker and have recognized . . . . I ain't ever gonna slap like Chad! So happy he was there and SO happy that Alanis was there! Awesome . . . RIP Taylor; so many will miss you. God Bless.

      Two part comment:
Part 1 Taylor, there's only so many ways to say how much you are loved and missed. I'm so glad Alanis knew an amazing talent when she heard it.
Part 2 Jannob, nice to see a fellow Detroit native in the comments - Toby Redd, Bitter Sweet Alley and The Almighty Strut. Good times and good tunes!

@FooFighters, please come to Taiwan and jam with some of our amazing artists! :) You are doing one of those 70's style "bring em all together" jams lately.... I think that's a beautiful concept. I know why. But it's deep hearted. THANK YOU.

Chad = the GOAT. Nobody could ever replace Taylor, but Chad is the only human who could ever fill that seat and have it feel good and make sense. Taylor and Chad were such kindred musical spirits
