We kept our blued service revolvers in good condition by using liquid car polish on the finish. A daily wipe down w/a silicone cloth kept the rust away.

Just got a Colt Python and here I am... Between the two, I'm not sure. Thankfully I have time to think it over. Will probably pick up one of them early 2025.
Update: I went with the MR73. Couldn't be happier.

I have both a 4" Mongoose and MR73 and while the MR73 has a more interesting history for a long range day I too prefer the Korth. My biggest gripe with the MR73 is the serrated trigger as I prefer to practice double action. After about 50 rounds even with light recoiling 38 Specials my finger gets rubbed raw, The polished trigger on the Korth I can shoot all day with no discomfort to my finger. After my 4" Korth I bought a 3" dual cylinder and love the ugly Hogue bantam grips on it. The real beauty of the Korth are the dual cylinder option since you can find 9 ammo everywhere any there are so many loads available. In fact I keep the 9mm cylinder in my 3 " almost exclusively and I don't need moon clips. I really like my 4 " MR73 but think the Korth is just a better revolver. If you want something really fun try the Korth in 44 Magnum.

I replaced the stock grips on my MR73 with Nill grips. The stock grips are not suitable for long range sessions with heavy magnum loads. I like the Nill grips so well that I have a couple revolvers wearing them now.

Hell yeah once I saw the BARNES AMMO i click on you video. that's what I carry in my Taurus Raging Hunter in 44mag

This is probably sacrilegious but slightly filing the side of the MR73's trigger would break the sharp angle. Changing the grip would also stop the gun from digging in the web of your hand.

Sweet revolvers. I would love to carry a 4” revolver but need the right holster

Check out Azula holsters they make nice leather holster for almost every model. I carry a 4 inch 586 in an Azula every now and then. Or if youre serious about carrying it then check out lobo gun leather they’re custom holster makers. I’ve got three of their holster for my main rotation. I love their holsters. Only negative is it takes about 3 months to get it

I'd probably go with the mongoose but I definitely would love a MR73. That's a huge toss up!

.357 magnum really shines out of 6"+ barrels, still good out of 4", the two extra inches give .357 magnum just that much more velocity

Nice comparison! They really are quality revolvers with their own advantages. Side by side though and hearing it all out, I can see why you would want to carry the 4" Mongoose, and I would, too. 👍👍

Nice review of high-dollar revolvers. But I carry a Taurus Raging Hunter in 44 Magnum with the 5 STAR speedloader. Can't afford them high-dollar ones

Every gun shop that I've been in they have had the mongoose hammer zip tied and they never would let me try out the action. I've held it just have not worked the action but I haven't held or even seen a MR73 in person.

I have an older Python and a Dan Wesson as well as other Colts and smiths. So the Python at least is handfitted semi custom very smooth. But a dirty secret is that an old Colt or Smith that has a lot of use be it dry firing or live ammo.... will be as smooth as it gets. hand fitting is nothing more than wearing in. I like both the M73 and the Korth. but at this point they are not much of an upgrade to things I have. Of the two the M73 appeals to me more tho. I have shot a few. but mostly they don't look cluttered like the Korth. I am a fan of 6" guns tho... 5" too. these days for guys who want the best gun they can get without spending thousands? I would suggest the new Python or a used Dan Wesson recently discontinued but they run around a grand on the used market. Both are very high quality revolvers that shoot as good as they look. My old Python has a better finish and a slightly different feel but they get outrageous prices for em.

Hi I have a question, is the trigger reach similar between the two? Or is there less distance in the korth?

    • @BusterTheBotanist
      @BusterTheBotanist 2 месяца назад +1

There’s less distance in the korth, but not by much and the grips play a role in that.

What you really need is a Janz….and then I guess you should get the Spohr…then you’ll have all the high-end revolvers.

I wouldn't use a $4k gun for carry... IMHO.. no need.. plenty of reliable far less expensive options.. wouldn't take a rolls royce off roading either

Son, just go with the classic Model 19 Combat Magnum with stainless barrel sleeve. Close the hillary whole with the right parts. Replace the springs with some wolff or wilson. Put a rubber Hogue Grip on and then you will have the top of the top for a correct price. There is no need for all these sissy revolvers that nobody needs. Just keep it simple stupid = KISS ! Buy a Kramer leather horse hide holster and then you are top notch. 😊

You have no idea what your talking about. Both of these revolvers are legendary in terms of durability, precision and craftsmanship. Funny enough the GIGN used to shoot a lot of S&W’s and decided to create a contract for the MR73 to be built because the S&W couldn’t handle continuous 100 magnum rounds a day every day. The frames would warp and make the revolvers useless. So yeah these revolvers are for people that actually shoot high round counts and magnums.
