"Listen Like Thieves" is the 4th single from INXS's fifth album "Listen Like Thieves". The b-side to the single was "Different World", which appeared on the "Crocodile" Dundee soundtrack.
@Rick Scicluna Great points and nowadays I have a greater appreciation for my time in the 21st Century, I was definitely one of those cassette buying , posters applying and watching the Vampire's all dying .
The chemistry those six lads shared together over the years made it all happen. Of course it didn't hurt that inxs had the best frontman the world has ever seen. ...be at peace Michael
As someone who was born when this came out these guys were one of the biggest bands and IMO this is their best song. I'm surprised it didn't hold up with the other songs you still hear occasionally on the radio today
As someone who was a teen when Listen Like Thieves was released, I'll tell you why. In the US, INXS was still a niche band. When LLT was the newest album, my cousin and I were the only people that really knew the album and band (became one of my fav albums at the time). Kick was the release where EVERYONE knew INXS and they became a household name. That's why songs from Kick and newer are the ones you hear - they are the songs that everyone knew back then. A lot of people missed out on LLT
@@cathsalazar9930 first inxs song I heard on a vhs 📼 copy from the Montreaux rock festival. Loved it, but didn’t pick up on inxs again until the strangest party. I kick myself
I know how dare he rnd his beautiful life.. if only he let him check his brain he could still be here after the Paris accident. Paris seems to be a bad place to go when your a ROCK STAR.
Saw these guys in 1987 for their Kick tour. That album had over 20 songs - a lot of them great. Of course they played this too. A *mostly* great decade for music and to be in HS.
Michael still to this day his voice is one of the best in music history. I'm about the same age as Michael would have been he was like ten months older than me so INXS has been in my music world since I first saw them on MTv. These guys are awesome and some of the most talented musicians out there. I've been playing guitar for fifty years and into a lot of different music like metal and old school. What's really great about INXS that they didn't stay with just one style nor did anyone in the band try to be a guitar shredder like what was popular. Every instrument in the songs has importance and stands out. The blend of sax and guitar they had is incredible. Glad they didn't try to stick to a mold and be like everyone else. At 62 I start my day cranking INXS videos. Shame Michael is gone. We were about the same age he being a few months older. I've wondered what he'd look like and sound like if he was around today. I think his voice would still be awesome. Like Mick from the Stones
this tape was sent to our house by accident. I fell in love and got shaboo and the swing and kick. Then my gramma gave me kiss me x3 by cure lol -- sorry boys! I left for the cure. so much love - all the memorization but amazing how these songs still stand
I still have a really vivid memory of walking along the Esplanade towards Acland Street on a weekend with my parents. When we passed the Palais there was a plane sticking out of the facade and burned out cars. I thought it was a movie set, didn’t’t see this video till years later and it all came together. Pointless story that went nowhere #36.

Ties in to the huge inspiration that the movie Dune had on music videos of the time. Wild Boys by Duran Duran conjures that as well. And they were close with Michael Hutchence.
