I don't understand why the DOJ isn't taking this seriously and why everyone thinks it's a joke. Taking her to court to explain her allegations would put an end to this. We need to hold people in power particularly the reckless ones accountable for their statements.

Mussolini was a professional journalist. Media, including social media, must be regulated far more. We are ALLOWING ourselves to be lied to and a great many people simply do not have the skills to withstand that. If a media outlet has repeated violations, it’s license needs to be pulled. Why is Trump given a media license for a network which apparently receives zero regulation? Facebook is repeatedly hauled in front of Congress. Zero happens. Trump pours millions into Facebook and Zuckerberg continues to profit. Why is this allowed? Musk pulled then restored Trump’s Twitter account; why was one person allowed to monitor truth in media and give Trump a massive venue for disinformation with zero regulation? Fox gets sued, pays fines, then uses the defense that they are an entertainment channel not a news network. We have completely allowed private influencers to disrupt a free press. Major overhaul with legal reform of our media will be one of the first priorities necessary by a Blue Congress. Look at what failure to do this has done; it is Trump’s primary tool just as it was Mussolini’s.

It would HAVE to apply to Biden as well, so I'm wondering how they would pull that off without giving Biden the right to over power them, pull a Trump and be a dictator for good, for one day and pass some laws that will keep people like Trump out of office forever! Codify ROE, SSI, Medicaid, Medicare, etc. Hopefully get campaign finance in check and stop all the gifts and insider trading that is corruption the House and the Senate, as well as the Judiciary.

It's hard to fathom how justices who are supposedly well-versed in constitutional law can contrive to affirm that separation of powers between co-equal branches of government allows them to reign supreme over all.

Lawrence and Senator Whitehouse are way too optimistic. SCOTUS holds all the cards here. They don't have to answer to congress or to anybody. Congress needs to pass new laws to control the court and that will not happen until MAGA is gone.

What legal process is available for them to do that?
Unfortunately, we must first defeat those MAGA-enabling and/or fascist-loving GOP Representatives and Senators this November. Until then, there won't be any laws passed to change the current situation. The GOP is quite happy to block any attempt to introduce accountability for judges, because they currently have enough of them in their pocket.

The Supreme Court needs to feel the weight of disapproval from every Federal and District Court in the country. Every Judge needs to speak in defense of the Rule of Law, the Constitution, and call upon the Supreme Court to explain itself, it's conduct and the conduct of individual Justices, where there is demonstrable evidence of troubling conduct.
Next time you talk about Trump and his hateful immigration policies you may want to point out that Eileen Cannon, like Marcia our immigrants they were born in another country

Im a retired IRS Revenue Agent and we used to make fun of the IRS special agents in the Criminal Investigation Division that always carried their guns in their little Fanny packs while carrying briefcases.

Again My suggestion is make SCOTUS 13 judges, to match the circuit courts, with 26 year max terms, & have a new SCOTUS confirmed every 2 years in April, starting in 2025. Any 8 year presidency replaces 4/13. Currently Clarence Thomas would be first to retire after 38+ yrs!
[edit, for ckarity, even a one term presidency would get to replace 2/13 judges, as you are replacing a retiring judge every 2 years - which also avoids the problem of unexpected deaths or other unplanned retirements}
I say an 18-year term limit. That way, a justice will be replaced every presidential term, no matter whether it’s a one-term presidency or a two-term; so it won’t matter - everyone gets a chance to replace a judge. No waiting for one to retire, and no putting off sitting a judge.
@@debdenny7552 not sure how it wasn't clear from what I said, but I'll be more explicit in future, but if we are replacing a judge every 2 years in April , then even a one term president would replace 2 judges!
(side note 26 year terms makes the math work with 13 judges, with 18 year terms you would have gaps, so that wouldn't work...)
@@JohnVDenley I get what you’re saying, but we don’t have 13 judges, and there’s no indication that we will. Right now, we need to work with what we have. It can be changed later. I’ve heard arguments against increasing the seats; but that’s neither here nor there. At the present time, we have nine, and we need to start replacing them right away. Regardless of our (brilliant) ideas, it’s up to Congress to have the wherewithal to make the changes necessary to stop this madness. That goes for Federal judges in the States, too. No one should be appointed for life anymore.
