In this video I explain how to write a business plan for an animal rescue center, and how to start an animal rescue center. The challenging part about writing a business plan for a an animal rescue center, and actually starting the rescue center is the balance of expenses vs. income. The problem is that such a typical rescue shelter requires multiple people to run and operate it, and a lease for the space. But a typical animal rescue shelter does not bring in much money (or any money at all).

Additionally, you must be able to provide at least basic veterinary help to the pets in your animal rescue shelter. And if any one knows of a pet in need of such a shelter, they can make sure that this pet ends up in your animal rescue shelter.
To sustain your animal rescue shelter, I recommend that you heavily explore how to raise donations and get grants because those sources of finances will go a very long way to help you sustain and grow your animal rescue shelter.

Volunteer at your local shelter or find an animal rescue in your community to help... it will be invaluable experience you can use to one day start your own!
One thing I wish I did when I was your age (I’m 15, going on 16) was start saving up. Even a couple dollars is a good start, put a few dollars every week into a jar or box, and soon (a year or so) you’ll have more money than you think.
Unfortunately, 13 year olds are useless to the world ;-; I’m sorry about my depression but I guess u can ask ur parents to donate and just look out for animals in need, or ppl even.
You should make dog beds out of your old clothes/old blankets and old stuffed animals etc. ask all your friends and cousins just family for any old clothes/blankets and stuffed animals/pillows(for the stuffing of the dog bed) take them to your animal shelter some don’t have beds they just have a blanket on the ground

I’m 20yrs old. I’m planning to open a parrot sanctuary since I grew up with all types and raised many kinds. There are so many parrots who are neglected and given up because people do not realize the patience and commitment it takes to own one!
Once you are set up and running, giving tours and shows would be one good way of making income.

I’m 15, going on 16. I’m a sucker for small animals since they’re treated so poorly by people who are wrongly informed by workers in pet stores. I rescued a hedgehog this year who was bought at an auction by a man who gave her to his daughter- who happened to be 4. When we came to pick her up, she was in a filthy tank, she had no wheel, bad food, no hides, no clean water and her nails were curling back into her paws. She never had been held. Luckily she’s a happy, healthy and loved hedgehog now that she’s with us.

You should have alot of dogs and cats medical researches heal them then sell them to buy things that will heal the next one make sure u sell the exact price or more of healing the other dog after it is better to sell it by a higher price for buying medical tools you could even buy cars and start a conpany of healing and selling street dogs then you will get 2 thing

TO ALL POSTING here, this is not easy and lives are involved, meaning you will be sorry when because of you animals are euthanized. So FIRST please volunteer at you ur local animal shelter. You can do that but becoming a regular pet walker. Dogs are desperate for this. Then volunteer to Foster there so you learn about medical intake and dealing with wounded animals and then volunteer to learn from a trainer, so you don't make my stakes introducing animals to each other the wrong way and so that your pets are adopted well behaved. Read up on doing strong background checks, writing contracts and how to visit a potential family home. This is important. Families can show up with borrowed nieces, smiling and sweet then you visit their home and they have no heat, paint falling off the walls, bad finances so if anything happens to the pet they can't go to a vet and if you adopt to them - it's on you that the pet will suffer in cold, maybe without food, without medical care and maybe back at another shelter. LEARN before you open your place so that you do not recycle animals. Adoption is forever, but it starts with proper work at the shelter

Yes definitely anything they can get
They will usually have a wishlist on their website. They do this because if they get donations especially food donations they want to make sure they can use it and not shock all of their animals with a new food. Litter is also highly appreciated and their wishlist will usually say which kind they prefer.

Hi!!! I want to own a shelter I'm just 13 but I have those dreams that I know will come true. I have been asking teachers if I have to go to college they say preferably yes. They recommend me to take business courses and some other subject to help me learn things about different species of animals. They also said that it will help me more with donations. However I will need permission from the government I believe to open this animal shelter. But my question is Will college be necessary? +Rosselin Mendoza As far as I know, college isn't completely necessary, although certain courses might make you think in a way that would be better for such a business. It's your choice though. Also, animal shelters and such businesses are no-profit-businesses, meaning that every single dollar you get will be put back into the shelter. And the "no kill-shelter" is called an animal sanctuary, so yes, that's possible
the most ull wanted to do as far as the college goes is to get a certificate in animal training/behavioralists
a basic animal course would help .you can get a cert in Kennel and cattery craft and any veterinary experience even dog grooming will help you identity any diseases or illness that pets have
having any animal course done will help with people taking you more seriously.
will make sure you will make good connections that will help you in the future .in dog care there is a lot of important issues that can sadly happen in rescue kennels ,like behavioural problems due to bad training from previous owner or trauma because the dog is in kennels so it is good to have a dog training or behavioural background.
my advice would be work in as many different rescues you can and don't worry to much about courses yet.the area of animal care is getting better so they will probably be more options and better courses out there in the next few years

Volunteer! Once they see how awesome you are, you are more likely to get a paid position. You can also get experience by volunteering for a local rescue.

You must do fundraising when you operate an animal rescue. There are many opportunities... get your 501c3 so that you are a recognized nonprofit; this encourages people to donate because their donation will be tax deductible. You can then also sign up for an Amazon Smile account, where a percentage of the things people buy at Amazon is returned to you as a donation. There are similar programs elsewhere (igive.com, etc.). Partner with self-employed product marketers (candles, tupperware, jewelry) - give them advertising on your FB page/Website in return for a fundraiser where a percent of their profits are returned to you as a donation. Bake sales, t-shirt sales (people love t's!), set up booths at local symposiums to market your rescue and accept donations. Every time you have a great rescue, contact the media! News channels are begging for heartwarming stories to tell about animals! Be nice to everyone! You never know where your next opportunity will come from and networking is hugely important. Promote your rescues diligently on a FB page and a website.

Various PetsAlive! groups usually have good info too. The Humane Network, humanenetwork.org/, offers online courses and a shelter management certificate program taught by people that helped Nevada Humane Society create a no kill community there.
It take more than a good shelter. You really need a comprehensive set of lifesaving programs and policies to have a successful and sustainable impact.
