"But in her beats a mortal heart that will one day be tempted by corruption" You mean unlike (Spoil warning) The rage filled angel that ruined the chances of turning the war, the Angel that became death and released Diablo by consuming its soul? Yea non-mortal hearts are so immune from corruption. Fing Angelic hypocrites....
i wouldnt say Malthael was evil....he was trying to save haven and the angels in destroying the mistake they did in his eyes....Humans.... etc ^^ Good or evil is always a point of view....
Tyrael has more reason than most to worry about the potential corruption of heroes. He personally saw the results of a good and noble warrior who slew Diablo but then succumbed to his corruption, to the point of eventually becoming Diablo's new host and unleashing his brothers upon Sanctuary. The first two Diablo games had a theme that fighting evil exacts a toll upon even the most virtuous and heroic of people. You fight against malign supernatural beings, and can even defeat them, to the point of slaying the Lord of Terror himself. However, witnessing the cruelty and horrors that these evils are capable of, along with seeing the constant suffering of innocent people and one's own friends and allies... it's a terrible thing to experience. And nobody who experiences this is going to be the same as before. Diablo III kind of sidelined this theme: the Nephalem is basically a superheroic figure who goes around slaying Evils left and right. They confront not only the lesser evils of Belial and Azmodan, but eventually they confront even an empowered Diablo: whose strength is fortified by the power of all seven evils united in one form. They travel to the Realm of Terror, slay Diablo in his own realm, and return unscathed to the mortal realm, something which no mortal has ever done before. The Nephalem subsequently goes on to slay one of the most powerful Angels in existence. The aftermath of this all is that Heaven and Hell are both severely weakened, Sanctuary is all the more battered by the Eternal Conflict, and Malthael's actions in destroying the Black Soulstone will assure that Diablo and the other Prime Evils will return eventually. Compared to past Diablo games, these are superhuman feats, let alone things that could be done without any kind of severe personal toll. If you think about the protagonists of Diablo I, they all end up corrupted into the service of the Prime Evils, with one even going on to become Diablo's new host as the Dark Wanderer. And honestly, the Nephalem as a character has been through some painful times. They've not only had to constantly face the malignant horror of the Prime Evils, but they've also seen great suffering among their friends and allies, and also among innocent people who are caught up in an ancient conflict between immortals that humanity desires no part in. And despite all of their sacrifices, all of their losses and pain, the Eternal Conflict still persists. Despite killing Diablo himself, Sanctuary is still threatened by the Eternal Conflict, since Malthael's desire to exterminate humanity was motivated by the demonic essence that lurks within humans. It would be hard for the Nephalem NOT to be scarred in some way by what they have seen and experienced.
Thats normal, with the destruction of the world stone there is nothing no seal the Powers of humanity, well see those vulnerable heros again in diablo 4 since Inarius seals humanity Powers again for his own benefit.
Without the worldwide Inarius has no means to seal the nephalem powers anymore. But 90% of humankind is gone, after this cinematic and not like nephalem will pop left and right, it will take time and several generations for nephalem to fully return. It’s unknown if hell and heaven will just stand by and accept this. The prime evils sure won’t if Diablo 4 has not shown this yet.
Actually Malthael is the most powerful Angel it was actually mentioned that he was the "peerless combatant" meaning unrivaled fighter because he only used the slightest force to defeat his enemies when he was still the leader of Angiris Council
malthael: destroy sanctuary because humans have part of demon in their DNA and that's an abomination also malthael: unites with the essence of prime evil to defeat the player 🤡🤡

I know this is two months late, but I'll answer it anyways. No, Cain and Adria are not related at all. Cain lived in Tristram for who knows how long before the events of Diablo I when Adria showed up. Why Leah calls him "uncle" instead of "father" or "grandpa" is anybodies guess, but Blizzard probably had it in mind where like if your best friend had a kid, chances are you'd be called an aunt or uncle. No relation, but close enough to be brothers/sisters. That's probably why they just went with uncle, although Cain and Adria weren't all that close(that we know of).

He fucking was, though!! The Holy Freeze was a massive sonofabitching advantage to him and if you didn't get away fast enough, you were pretty much screwed (since his melee attack was a beast). I played as a Sorc focused on fire and cold techniques (with teleportation in the lightning tree) and I kept having to teleport back to town every time my merc died, 'cause if he didn't last long, I would last twice as less, ffs xD
Uhmmmm. Not to be the party pooper but Mephisto is forever banished from the Sanctuary into the Black Abyss after his soulstone was destroyed in Hellforge. There cannot be an expansion about Mephisto.
THAT'S IT?! A comic slideshow cinematic is all we get from this expansion?! BLASPHEMY! This game needs to be locked up in 7th circle of Hell along with Mists of Pandaria.
Why MOP? the only people who think MOP was shit expansion are casuals who played 2 hours a week and thought that a panda expansion was not "warcraft like" the PVE and PVP in mop was extremely good.
(in a creepy badass voice) *"Death consumes all!"* QUICKLY! HIT IT WITH EVERYTHING YOU GOT! (Intense health potion chugging and left clicking action) Yeah, thats a "legendary warrior" all right.
"Congratulations, you beat the game. Do you want to go to the main menu, or do you want to hang around here and do nothing and not talk to anyone or go anywhere?"
Think we need to fire all Angels besides Tyrael and Auriel, they always screw it up and free Diablo! Good job Malthael! So what we got for Diablo 4 on the trouble check list? All Prime and Lesser Evils free ✓ Angels closing the gate on Sanctuary kinda like 'whatever happens happens later losers!' ✓ Imperius against us (likely went Aspect of Wrath) ✓ Super juiced Nephalem that's possibly corrupted ✓ Good God, no wonder we summon Lilith, save us indeed mother!
Just what the blizzard North team did with diablo 2 wich u battle the hero of diablo 1. Just do an HD version of diablo 1-2 and i'll be happy. Diablo 3 si just a middle Finger to what the diablo universe used to be by destroying everything
Every Diablo we fight the previous Diablo-slayer corrupted by Diablo.... It's a never ending cycle... like evil vs good.... So the next one is clearly: When will the Nephalem be corrupted? but they had a twist... since the Nephalem is overpowering angel and demons... if she falls. We all die... thus Diablo won... actually every game Diablo gets closer to his end goal. It would be good to have a Diablo 4 in a open world where you travel and you see Diablo Brothers and Angels etc... technically they are all released and Mathael should come back too
Look at all the kids crying. Jay Wilson was moved off the team. These guys did the best they could to revive a shit story that he completely trashed. They really didn't do half that bad and I'm honestly glad to see a possible expansion/sequel because that means we will hopefully see a PROPERLY developed Diablo game rather than have Jay Wilson trash another one.
You're glad? I'm not the Nephelim doing all these crazy things; killing Diablo, the fucking Angel of Death and more than likely stopping Diablo more than three FUCKING times. But even I'M exhausted from this. These guys are worse off than Master Chief.
Well what if Diablo 3 was just a vision of Deckard Cain? Maybe that is the only way Blizzard can save this series...eveything is just a dream and the real Diablo 3 will happen soon...
Sir Mullich I wouldnt know. Nor you would. Perhaps they wanted that art style, perhaps they wanted to save money. But they did not need to CGI it for everyone, they could use the tactic they used on RoS cinematic, half is art half is CGI.

by the time they release diablo IV all the people playing now will be experiencing health problems due to old age, or wont have time because of children. if they take the same time gap as they did between d2 and d3, were gonna be waiting about 10 years.
Ending indicates that maybe if Diablo 4 comes out we would have Nephelym as Last boss a mortal lol XD.It always amazed me in Diablo Franchise how could a mere mortal Destroy Evil from Hell and get respected by high Heavens.o.o
Yep.Humans = Nephalem.Half Angels Half Demons. They were stronger then both and the parents realised it so they tuned the world stone so the nephalem became weak. But somehow our hero is immune to the stone.
Soooo let me get this straight Death consumes the Dark Soul stone which has Diablo's soul inside and now death is dead Diablo is free again so basically there back to square 1 again, wouldn't that mean Kain and Leah are alive somewhere is there is no death even Morphisto and Baal would be alive again
The human beings bodies are dead, also, Cain was killed by mahgda, not imprisoned in the stone. Though it's nice to think that breaking the stone sets Leah's soul free. Adria didn't just kill/sacrifice her, she hyper-murdered her soul, that was brutal.
There is a serious problem with the Black Soulstone as it should not hold the souls of Mephisto and Baal since both were banished to the Black Abyss after their soulstones were destroyed in Hellforge. And there is no coming back from the Black Abyss.
eleszar1 I was disappointed too especially because I thought the opening cinematic of Act 5 was the best in the whole game (the one where Mat appears and kills a bunch of Angels). Tyreal fighting Imperius in Act 3 (I think) was really good also
And the next game will be named: Nephalem 4 with an expension pack : Diablo Lord of Terror.....oooor we play as diablo and we have to stop the nephalem :D
I think we're gonna be up against a boss that's a clone of ourselves in the next patch. Though that was done during the Diablo fight, there's more to do to it. Make it copy your exact build, match your moves a la Dark Link style. Make it have it's own loot table on top of the current one with a chance to drop something you're wearing, for upgrade's sake.
Aye, so that's it ?? from D3 the prime evil forever destroyed and now Malthael ges killed then Diablo released ?? gosh in WOW undead has been misunderstood same as the zerg and now this. Com'on............
Hey guys from 5 years ago. Diablos essence or ''soul'' cannot be destroyed. Even using the Hellforge ultimately proved unsuccessfull since part of his soul was in Leah. Plis now the Hellforge is unusable in this matter. Why? Mephisto and Baal did got banished to Black Abbys forever but not Diablo. And another usage of Hellforge is not possible since his/her/it??? soulstone was already destroyed. Thus making it impossible to destroy him. For what happened at the end... Malthael destroyed the Black Soulstone and consumed the soul of Diablo within, making him more powerful than ever and making him virtually impossible to kill if you are not the Aspect of Death(which Nephalem becomes partly Death in Pandemonium Fortress, making it possible to kill Malthael). With Malthael dead Diablos soul was freed and found the closest host. The Nephalem. So we got the same ending as Diablo 1 just without the nephalem headshoting himself with a bigass crystal.
nah, because prior to confronting him, you had to "over come" death. So to actually engage him you had to become imbued with the powers of the realm of death or some shit. Which what allowed the hero to actually take down Malthy
Woah woah woah. Malthael's death is fine and dandy. But I could've SWORN Diablo's wipeout on 3 was the LAST! Come on! Foreshadowing another one!? God! Jesus! Where the hell are you in our time of need? This fucker WON'T GO DOWN!!
Game 1: Diablo is Free Game 2: Diablo is free and released his brothers Game 3: An angel goes rogue and psychopath and released Diablo Game 4 Trailer: A guy released Diablo girlfriend Now i understand why the game is called Diablo and is losing all the fun :c
He did almost died when Diablo started the corruption of The Crystal Arch where all the angels are born or reborn basically. If the Arch got fully corrupted.... the High Heavens will fall and Angels would be no more. This lorewise goes back to The Prime Evil vs The Diamond Warrior(Tathamet vs Anu). Since Anu and Tathamet were the first created immortal beings they both died in their last fight where death of Anu created the High Heavens and the Crystal Arch being his spine. Death of Tathamet destroyed him and created 7 Evils. 3 Primes and 4 Lessers. We all know those hopefully.
@@soccorio3522 He got wounded in the cinematic fight. But he quickly healed up and was about to go for a second round with Diablo, but then his powers got stripped way because Diablo had already reached the heart of the High Heavens and was draining the light of all angels. Since the mortal nephalem was unaffected by this, he was the only one left with the power to save the High Heavens from Diablo.
Little upset Malthael had to die. I mean come on the guy looked awesome in the trailer (Also would've been cooler if we had a live action cinematic with him losing, but I guess beggars' can't be choosers) and while though they already said the impossible was done by killing him, is there going to be a new angel of death or is he going to reborn or something weird stuff that doesn't make sense to anyone?
Reborn? ENOUGH OF THIS SH*T ALREADY. Sorry about the all caps, it's just that the bosses in this game are like olive trees. (look up destroying an olive tree if you didn't catch that reference).

Diablo 4 will probably implement this very soon.. Would be cool if you predict the whole thing tho
THAT'S IT?! A comic slideshow cinematic is all we get from this expansion?! BLASPHEMY! This game needs to be locked up in 7th circle of Hell along with Mists of Pandaria.
You got a whole new mode with a boss that a lot of people say was actually hard to kill. Plus MoP wasn't that bad, bet you wish you had cata back.
Mists of Pandaria was a brilliant expansion. Not as good as Wrath, but brilliant nonetheless.
Raul Gonçalves True. But the real problem is the decline progressing. Is it just me or does it feel less... interesting?
Vivienne Koo
No, no, this is MADNESS!
Why MOP? the only people who think MOP was shit expansion are casuals who played 2 hours a week and thought that a panda expansion was not "warcraft like" the PVE and PVP in mop was extremely good.
The ending isnt flashy but still gives me goosebumps
Tyrael: You cannot judge me, I am justice itself.
Malthael: You cannot kill me, I am death itse...nvm.
OMG I WANT THE OLD TYRAELS VOICE FFS !!!!
(in a creepy badass voice) *"Death consumes all!"*
QUICKLY! HIT IT WITH EVERYTHING YOU GOT!
(Intense health potion chugging and left clicking action)
Yeah, thats a "legendary warrior" all right.
All Prime and Lesser Evils free ✓
Angels closing the gate on Sanctuary kinda like 'whatever happens happens later losers!' ✓
Imperius against us (likely went Aspect of Wrath) ✓
Super juiced Nephalem that's possibly corrupted ✓
Good God, no wonder we summon Lilith, save us indeed mother!
@Zenolegor ikr I hate them all I hope he's still alive.
Actually the nephalem free diablo.. when He killed malthael
That ending gave me serious goosebumps
"None are beyond death." Death, Darksiders 2
My favourite quote.... Darksiders 2 is much better... I believe
The only sense of achievement i got from Diablo 3 was from withstanding all that boredom thorugh the entire game. WHY IS DIABLO 3 SO EASY
Diablo 4 - fight enephalim with Tyrael
Then the game would be named. Nephalem 4.
The Nephalem will be corrupted and what we should count on is the new generations of Nephalem!
This sounds too boring to me
Lilz.MonkeyBoy
Diablo 1 end with corruption of the character
thecuchikiller But the Dark Wanderer wasnt our antagonist at all
Just what the blizzard North team did with diablo 2 wich u battle the hero of diablo 1.
It would be good to have a Diablo 4 in a open world where you travel and you see Diablo Brothers and Angels etc... technically they are all released and Mathael should come back too
We didn't fight the previous hero's from d2 in d3 only the dark wanderer in d2 aka the warrior from d1
Try this: In Diablo 4, we play Diablo (or choose from one of the prime evils/angels) to defeat the Nephalem.
I would love a D2: LoD remake in HD. THAT would be awesome.
That would be great, with some really nice fluid cinematics and I would play that for 1000 hours
can you also love the idea of me winning a few million in lottery?
@@dairiskuznecovs7233 lmao
That's a fucking brilliant idea my friend!
no blizzard cinemtaic ending means, an awesome diablo 4 opening ? :D
Enter Lilith xDDDD
I hope the main anti-hero in the next expansion would be your character and no one else.
Rather anticlimactic isn't it?
That might be about the worst time to crash possible.
Glad we could help out.
I wouldnt mind seeing diablo 4 take place in present day. make the setting very dark like in bloodbourne. that would be interesting
Diablo 4 in 2020!
Looks like this is true
damn, blizzard is so cheap. they put just a sketch for ending. the vanilla got cinematics in every end of act.
well its cause each class and gender has their own spot light in the cut scene. guess it would take too long to CGI it for everyone
Sir Mullich That clearly is not the reason
Navhkrin
Then what 'clearly' is?
Sir Mullich I wouldnt know. Nor you would. Perhaps they wanted that art style, perhaps they wanted to save money. But they did not need to CGI it for everyone, they could use the tactic they used on RoS cinematic, half is art half is CGI.
Navhkrin
I think the problem here is youre comming off as authoritative, or wanting to be right. By saing "That is clearly not the reason," you imply as if you WOULD know or that its OBVIOUS. And just how the fuck is it "clearly"??. You silly fuck. I was just throwing in my 2 cents.
No one cares about your opinion, have a good day.
I love his death animation, reminds me of when you defeat a maverick in Mega Man X
Blizzard: Proving we can't commit to an ending that isn't sequel bait since 1997.
Legacy of the void did it.
by the time they release diablo IV all the people playing now will be experiencing health problems due to old age, or wont have time because of children. if they take the same time gap as they did between d2 and d3, were gonna be waiting about 10 years.
Mathael is like Samael. He is still an angel but doing dirty works in shadow. He still believe in highest gracious but don't believe on humans.
Can't compare him to Samael. One was jealous of gods creation, the other hates the abomination created from 2 traitors.
Ending indicates that maybe if Diablo 4 comes out we would have Nephelym as Last boss a mortal lol XD.It always amazed me in Diablo Franchise how could a mere mortal Destroy Evil from Hell and get respected by high Heavens.o.o
Mere mortals with crazy powers
Well its not just a mere mortal. Nephalem, you know
Yep.Humans = Nephalem.Half Angels Half Demons.
+Nakatomi Uk Only the demonic souls Malthael absorbed are free such as the Seven Evils.
Diablo IV : nefelem slays God, Diablo IV Reaper of Reality expansion: nefelem destroys last bindings of reality. Diablo V: nefelem slays everything, everything becomes nefelem
c'mon guys, where is the render cinematic what i hoped for? :O
Diablo IV: A New Dawn it will be possibly the true end
Oh no a mortal heart is so vulnerable to corruption. Let's just forget about Malthael, the corrupt angel...
For someone as important and as powerful as the "Angel of Death", they nerfed him so much, it's hilarious
I hate the Devs they messed up the story line....how can a girl character defeat him no that's not right.
Where is the Nephalem in Diablo 4's setting? I thought we became Immortal after this and all that. Was she/he killed off in some way.
D4: Your character has gone insane. Final Boss...this shit does not die! HP per hit/second build, bitches!
Well, the heroes of D2 become insane XD.
very crap ending i expected much more
eleszar1 I was disappointed too especially because I thought the opening cinematic of Act 5 was the best in the whole game (the one where Mat appears and kills a bunch of Angels). Tyreal fighting Imperius in Act 3 (I think) was really good also
Rok Fish There is a cinematic, where he kills bunch of angels?
HardCR0W I think he is referring to the intro cinematic or something
Wish they included a "Blizzard-quality" ending cinematic.
And the next game will be named: Nephalem 4 with an expension pack : Diablo Lord of Terror.....oooor we play as diablo and we have to stop the nephalem :D
yus :3
lol the nephalem got corrupted and the mankind's last hope is.... Diablo
June 27th, there's going to be a brand new class for the game. The Necromancer.
Zangetzu419 sadly I can’t get it, because I’m playing this on Xbox 360. 😞
Well that was anticlimactic...
You can't destroy evil, only contain it.
MikeTall88
and slow it down
Hey guys from 5 years ago.
Was the graphic on the lowest setting in this video? Cuz even D2 looks better than this :D
Shouldn't like Malthael be able to take Nephilim's soul with a swipe of his hand?
nah, because prior to confronting him, you had to "over come" death.
Diablo... It's called diablo
New expansion/game confirmed.
I hope we get to see mephisto and Baal in the new graphic engine
Diablo 5
Fighting Tyrael 🥵
Or fighting the Nephalem that could not over come the sins of man
I HOPE NEPHALEM WILL BE IN DIABLO 4 EXPANSION FFS !
We already know crusader Johanna is dead. It's been 50 years, the rest are probably also dead too.
So Diablo is out there again? I really doubt the next expansion is going to sale
Oh, Tyrael... It depends on how many valuable loots you posses, really.
This battle vs Kratos' battle against Ares.
Would of been a better story if the second you kill Malthael a big THE END appears on screen.
For someone who just absorbed the power of the 7 Evils... he doesn't really show it huh
Malthael, you done goofed.
Game 1: Diablo is Free
Game 2: Diablo is free and released his brothers
Game 3: An angel goes rogue and psychopath and released Diablo
Game 4 Trailer: A guy released Diablo girlfriend
Now i understand why the game is called Diablo and is losing all the fun :c
Malthael didn't do any of those things, and Lilith's 'boyfriend' was an angel.
THIS is final battle? I only see nobrain hack and slash, no tactics involved at all.
Act VI incoming.
Hope so
3:47 wait imperius is still alive? I thought he died during the battle with diablos.
I guess Angels are tougher to kill than they appear - a blade to the gut won't do jack
So . . .where is that next expansion at Bliz?
That would be a tough fight
Емил Ефендулов well, what they mean with all of the games is "evil can be contained, but not destroyed"
as for the character becoming Diablo, I dunno, I feel more like it will be an option that you have to make in the next game(?) expansion(?)
I think angels are simply jealous....
Next Diablo fight the nephalem! He is to powerful. You beat the nephalem. Good job! Now fight the NEW nephalem he is to powerful!
diablo is dead and buried.....and i dont mean the character
I beat Maltheal with a wizard. HOW??
Archonte form
That will be just about enough logic out of you La Las :P
Clearly he was not corrupted because..... reasons.....
I actually kinda liked the ending
pretty girl barb
We are Death
"No one escapes... death..."
Diablo is free!! Hell yeah that's mean we can see diablo 4?
Dope
Ending indicates Diablo 4 or another expansion for more plots.
maybe Leah will come back
Niccole Copelli I doubt it
***** Never know.
Niccole Copelli
And probably Mephisto and Baal and the rest of the Lesser Evils, since they're all imprisoned together within the soulstone. But hey, look on the bright side. At least we can kick their asses again, just like old times.
TheKilerbg Niccole Copelli Actually Leah will come back, more or less. One of the developers said they have some plans for her.
