the government should serve protect and care for its people no matter what and if it no longer serves the cituzens in that capacity it has lost its right to govern
But there are many people who distrust the government and think the government is inherently corrupt and think the government is not needed. What are your thoughts on that?

Governments often cause more harm than good, even when their intentions are good.
Economically, our government after ww2 tried to help poor people afford housing by placing price caps in certain places. The results were devestating as these lower prices caused a house shortage even though there were plenty of homes. Many homes were bought by other people who didn't need them as much as others. Moreover, landlords could not maintain their apartments due to prices going below their profits, resulting in tens of thousands of vacant homes and more poor people rather than less.
As far as safety, governments have the tendency to gain more and more control sometimes due to good intentions but most likely not. The result is what we're seeing now.
A school experiences a mass shooting, which was caused by government intervention in the first place due to "gun free zones" causing public places to be disarmed and effectively allow violent criminals to be the only ones to carry a firearm. After a mass shooting however the mentality at the moment is an emotional response caused by fear and it is by that fear that people make hasty uneducated comments and decisions. These people who are ignorant of how reality works, run to the government and ask for gun regulations for safety. The government, who is in favor of violating the one right that acts a deterrent against them, is of course going to be in agreement with such regulations. In reality, this becomes the opposite of safety and freedom both.
Half of the things we percieve in our modern culture and society to be the roles of our government are not so.
There are many things that the people are responsible for and other things for the government. It is important that we know what roles and purposes there are and to where or whom these roles shall reside.

Perhaps this vid informs us what an "ideal" government should be doing; but, too often, the reality falls far short.

We all need to "Listen".....And then shift our energy, ego & "ld" nature ( instinct ) combined with our will power and pure spirit, which is the essence of who we truly are, to a good & elevated field of existence. And......we will then know exactly, why we are here and what our authentic, original and true purpose is as human beings.
