Great shave Aaron. I have the A&E version of that soap with the Island Man after shave, I kinda mix & matched that one. Personally I think the knot behavior of a badger brush is more organic and adaptive on my face, versus a synthetic which feels robotic and stiff. I like the way badger hair smells, even a well broken in brush has a slight animalic smell that I enjoy. Plus badger brushes are usually scritchier, which helps exfoliate the skin better. Good question man.

Hey Ben, thanks so much for your continued support man. Appreciate you stopping by to watch. Oh cool, yeah I’ve noticed Ariana and Evan’s made their own dupe of VIW (St. barts) which I’m sure also is great. Good call to mix and match. This scent has grown a lot on me and I just really like it a lot. Another creed scent that impresses me. Thanks for the feedback on the brush question. All great points, although I think we differ on liking the badger scent lol. One thing about badger ive noticed that I like a lot, is that the knots don’t “hollow out” after lots of bowl lathering like my synthetics do. I think badger hair works well with my lathering style due to the strength of the hairs. Just a neat thing I noticed. Have a great weekend!

Hey Aaron, great shave! Stirling Island Man is one of my favorites for the summer as well, I'll have to put it in my queue for next week! As far as your badger brush question, as someone who regularly uses both synthetic and badger, it comes down to the face feel and experience for me. Obviously both will do the job and has its own characteristics, so it boils down to personal preference. Even within badgers, there are softer ones, scratchier ones, and everything in between.

Thanks so much for watching Jon and the kind words! I appreciate that man! Very glad to hear you’re also a fan of island man! It’s a great summer scent that has really grown on me. I love the lime and floral mix. Thanks for addressing my brush question. Good point about the face feel and experience. Yeah, I find myself wanting to use the badger sometimes just for the difference in face feel. That’s one of the best parts of the hobby, just getting the joy of experiencing something different. Lots to explore in the world of wetshaving, which is what keeps me coming back. Always curious to hear about everyone’s brush preferences. Have a great weekend man!

Totally agree with your enthusiasm with Stirling, not only do they make a great soap they are basically a one shop stop. One thing I particularly like about Stirling is the high number of perennial scents and they still have seasonal and special releases for the scent junkies. Like you I really enjoy synthetic brushes, particularly APshave knots. Have a great weekend Aaron 🤓

Hey Lawrie my friend, always appreciate your time and support on my content. Thanks so much for watching and the kind words. Right yeah, I’m a huge fan of how they do their operation. Lots of consistency with their offerings, as well as some favorite returning seasonal scents (like Christmas Eve) and the special releases like those 3 oz Black Friday soaps (love those tubs). You never have to worry about anything being out of stock or being discontinued. They are very reliable and don’t switch things up too often like other artisans tend to do. Glad to see we are both on team synthetic :). Got another yaqi brush on the way. You also enjoy the weekend!!

They are always killing it. I’ve smelled both of those and love them. Especially executive man with that smoky pineapple. I can see why creed aventus is the best selling cologne on the market. Creed scents are all crazy good. Have a great weekend man!

Great video as usual, Aaron. Actually just mowed down my growth with the jagger with a gillette platinum blade and used a sample of murphy and mcneils "the great bear" soap. Truly a unique, yet very pleasing smelling soap.

I'm gonna use mine tonight in an off camera shave. I love how effortlessly you can use it and how comfortable it is. I saw that soap but never smelled it. Love that label, which is typical in Murphy and Mcneil fashion. Glad you enjoy that one. Keep on shaving on my friend and enjoy your sunday!

Hey Sir. Nice one. Sorry to hear the gem did not do well on the neck. I actually loved this blue soap so much I killed it a couple of months ago 🙂 Love Stirling soaps, one thing though. I "dilute" down Stirling splashes with some home grown aloe vera gel. A little too much alcohol 😀 for me. Have a nice weekend

Oh well, sometimes cuts can be part of the fun haha. Glad to hear you’re also a fan of the island man soap. That blue color on it is super neat, I can’t get enough of it. Good tip. The alcohol content sometimes does burn a lot, as well as overpower the scent of the splash. I have a few non alcoholic splashes that I really enjoy. You enjoy your weekend as well!

Nice shave Aaron. You're a great ambassador to wet shaving. Totally agree with your views on Stirling as a company. I'd love to see them put out more videos. That GEM razor really mows it down. Hot here in Charlotte NC. Did some yardwork today, trimming some bushes. Got an email today from Italian Barber promoting a new razo rock game changer. I almost pulled the trigger but I need a new razor like I need a hole in my head. Got my son one of those Segway scooters for his 13th b-day. Already got banned on 2nd day for breaking the rules. I was against getting it but he can be quite persuasive. Have a great day.

Good point, you only really see Stirling put out a few videos. The community would love it if they made more on a regular basis. I guess they don’t always want to be the center of attention. This gem did great today but did not expect that chin cut. Oh well, it’s part of the excitement. I hear you. It’s hard to justify a new razor when we all have so many of them, as well as ones that work just fine. I’ve had my eye on that blue Rockwell 6s though. Those scooters look fun man, sucks he got banned. That had me cracking up. Take care man and hope you enjoy the weekend 👌👌

Great shave, Aaron! I love Island Man, one of my favorite scents. Now living in a slightly more humid location, I wish Stirling added just a touch of menthol for some great cooling. Thankfully, I have Frost Drops, so I can add that cooling. As for your badger question. I absolutely can make a better lather with a synthetic, but for some reason I love howva badger feels on the face when painting on a lather. Have a wonderful day! 👊😁

Hi James! Thanks so much for your continued support and kind words man! I'm so glad to see you're also a fan of island man. It's a fantastic scent indeed. Good point. They have a menthol version for a good amount of their summer scents, but not island man for some reason. i feel like they could easily make that lol. I have a few frost drops that have been sitting in my den for a while. I never really use them much, but maybe on a hot day ill bust them out. Thanks for the brush feedback. I feel the same, my lathers are way better with a synthetic. Making a good lather with a badger is so frustrating, but I enjoy how it feels on the face. Have a great week james!

Another great video! I have the Island Man set too. Great scent! I actually messaged Rod asking if we could get the splash with less coloring since it was almost staining my white sink 😂 He informed me that the blue comes from the fragrance they use and he’s working with the supplier to actually address the amount of coloring they put in it. So I’m sure it’ll stay blue, just a bit lighter 👍🏻

Thanks so much for answering my question about the blue coloring haha. That’s really neat the blue is from the actual fragrance that they use. Awesome that Rod listened to you and is working with the supplier to address that. Another reason why Stirling is so great. The customer always comes first with them. I also noticed that the aftershave sort of stained my sink for a bit as well. Ha, gotta love it. Enjoy your weekend brother.

To touch on a couple more points, I too am debating trying out badger. I’m torn between buying an artisan badger w/ a high end manchurian knot out buying a cheap badger. Just don’t want to be disappointed going the cheap route. I’ve found with my synthetics they tend to be a little hard to lather with the bristles being too soft. I bought an artisan brush with a AP shave co G5C knot and it’s already my favorite. Whips up lather so easily due to thicker bristles which I assume is closer to real badger. On a side note, have you ever tried the Leaf Twig? I got the most amazing shave with it using a feather blade. Perfect combo of mild razor with sharp blades

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  Год назад +1

Thanks so much for your feedback on my brush question man! Really appreciate you. I hear you. Peronally I've become a mid price range kind of guy. At the start of the hobby I went REALLY cheap and the brush bristles fell off after a few shaves. This stirling badger has been a great bang for my buck though. 35 bucks and performs great, just like everything with stirling. Funny you mention you have a harder time making a lather with synthetics. I have the opposite experience. I get great lather with synthetics, but my badger I feel "eats up" my lathers. But I know badgers require using less water, since the hairs are more absorbent. Very glad to hear that AP brush is working out good for you! You definitely get your moneys worth in this hobby. Never tried leaf but I like putting feathers into my merkur 34C. Works great. Keep on shaving on bro and have a great week!

Recientemente acabo de adquirir Satsuma y Arkadia me gustan los aromas cítricos. Es Island man tiene mentol? Se siente muy frío? Porque no me agrada la sensación de mentol fuerte 😖😁.
