I Don't want to play in your Yard - H W Petrie (parlor song)

Soprano Catherine Laidler-Lau and pianist Robert Ludwig performed one of the immortal parlor songs from the 1890's, "I Don't Want to Play in Your Yard" by H W Petrie (1894) at an anniversary concert for the Cathedral of the Incarnation, Garden City, in Long Island, circa 1996.

I was born in 1939. My Mom used to sing this to me, when I was a little guy. So good to hear the verses in addition to the refrain.

Originally wrote in 1894!! I’m 50 years old, and I learned this song from my great-grandmother. She was born in 1897. The turn of the century. My own son was born at the turn of the *next* century; 1997, one hundred years later.
