    Even though I'm more of a Samsung fan, I really love what Huawei and Oppo are doing putting pressure on Samsung and forcing it to improve.
    Samsung, Huawei and Oppo are for me the 3 manufacturers that are really advancing Mobile technology.
    On the other hand, Huawei should really review its pricing policy.

      Huawei has put much of the budget to create or innovate on its on, rather than mirroring or licensing existing phone tech which appear to be reason of its high pricing tag.

      I checked with a few sites that had for pre-order and it is not that expensive compared to Samsung. You get 256GB base so in the UK that is £1050 for the Flip3. Also they come with a free GT Watch 3 worth around £300. This makes it net better value than the Flip3 at launch and it comes with a SD card slot for more storage. Add the bigger battery and I think as far as flip phones are selling ATM it is in line with the competition. Of course, as the Flip3 is six months old there are deals but wait six months and so will the P50.

    • @mohammadzein504
      @mohammadzein504 2 года назад

      @@andyH_England That is, a superb deal if it's available to you. Which would overall make it better deal than the Zflip. And yes this one supports expandable storage, but not with a standard SD card. You need to use Huawei proprietary memory card. Which is great nonetheless👍👍

    Great review. I've never used a foldable but would like to see one of these screens in the flesh. Good point about them being more vibrant and anti-reflective, probably quite obvious when you think of the materials involved but it never occurred to me!
    Huawei phones are fantastic. I still have my Mate 20X (4G version) and I recently upgraded to the Axon 30 Ultra. However, I very much miss the screen size, I feel the macro is a bit flakey (on the ZTE) and the speakers on the 20X are probably the best phone speakers out there, even now.
    If Huawei brought out an alternative to the 20X I'd be all over it, Google or not.
    My mum uses the P40 Lite and I found being without Google was actually pretty easy to do. One app that didn't work was her My Morrisons app (UK supermarket) but that may have been fixed by now - it's been a few months since I used it.

    Hopefully it doesn't suffer as much problems as the z flip 3. Been using it for almost 3 months and it already has camera issues and screen problems. Love the z flip to bits but hope that is not how all foldable phones are gonna become.

      @@CerealforProtein first was the camera, a line appears on the top of the screen when I'm using the main camera. Made an appointment with Samsung service center and the module was replaced, ready to pick up in 3 hours time. One week later I'm facing an issue with the main screen not waking up when I flip it open. But it happens like once every 10-20 flips. Closing and opening again fixes it.

    👀...Huawei's design language in the P50 Pocket PE is more attractive than Samsung's zFold, where an exponentially superior screen presents the best foldable execution on any platform, and I like the custom design on the 🐚
    I am officially stuck on this model, where the lack of 5G and expandable storage are a small inconvenience... I may "jump ship" into the Huawei camp of nautical endeavours, if the 888_SD chipset maintains firm grip on reception and signal quality 👋

    Def not sold by foldables yet but hard to not agree that Huawei has perfected their devices far better than Samsung. The Fold3 looks like an old design and ditto the Flip3. If I was in the market I would def pay the extra for the P50 Pocket over the Flip3 (P50 has better cameras, bettery battery, less heat, no crease, no gap, nicer design, etc).
    I am not bothered about no Google Services as Harmony OS (HMS) is pretty good. I also like supporting the underdog rather than bowing to the Google monopoly. Hopefully Samsung will start trying again with their foldables, despite their headstart they seem to be trailing the competition, who seem to know design far better that Samsung.

Like seriously - try to buy a good spec, under 5,5" android :V I like to have my wallet and phone in my jeans pocket - that is my only solution. Too expensive for now, but I hope that Xiaomi will jump on this idea and then competition will start making cheaper ones.

    Huawei have lost the plot on pricing 1600 euro`s for a phone with a last generation old chip, no 5G, no IP rating and no google services, let's see how long it takes them to bring the price down to sub 1000 euro's. • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 2 года назад +2

      Name me another flip phone with a better chip?
      It has HMS and having used Harmony OS, works great. Not all of us live and die by Google.
      No 5G is not a big deal, in fact the Flip3 when using 5G barely gets 3hrs SoT so is more a positive than a negative. I get 200Mbps 4G so 5G is essential in my region.
      4000mAh compared to the Flip and Moto that have much smaller batteries; win P50.
      1hr to full charge is to preserve battery longevity. Most of us are fine with that as replacing batteries in this means ripping the two panels off and will be costly.
      1400 Euro for the base model is similar to the Flip3 at launch as you get 256GB storage and a free watch worth £300.
      Comparing with other flip phones it fares best but I agree with you with regard to 2022 phones, it falls short and is why I am not really feeling flip phones ATM. Then again this is a luxury device aimed at the fashion-conscious rather than the avergae user, and therefore remains niche.

    • @jimtzel1190
      @jimtzel1190 2 года назад +1

      @@andyH_England if you insist on getting a flip phone. There are not many options and yet nothing has the latest snapdragon.
      I have a 300€ 5g phone but i ll admit that i only use 4g to preserve battery. In some rare cases i activate 5g and i can download large apps instantly. However, it's a luxury that you need when you pay over 1000€.
      Play store and a lot of google apps are essential for a lot of users. Huawei needs to drop the price, to give me a reason to try something new which at this stage is worse.
      Even my 300€ Poco f3 with a 4500mha larger battery, charges faster than that.
      When you pay over 1000€ you NEED the latest processor. Even if you can't see the difference, you re paying a luxury price.
      Foldables need to be competitive man

    I am done with Huawei phones. Was able to have the Huawei P40 Pro, an incredibly expensive phone(more than a Samsung S series). The only good thing I can say about that phone was a good build quality, felt premium. Of course, you can get a good build in a midranger. The camera was very disappointing, UI was not pleasant, no google services was a huge minus. In Europe the Huawei is at the same premium price as an iPhone Pro series, it's insane.
