+Kyra Garcia Well, for me , Rollo betraying ragnar is kind of debatible , because Ragnar never gave him the place he deserves. Plus he is so F$#ING HOT!!! ; )
+Napstablook Historically Rollo and Ragnar were not brothers and did not live at the same time, they were brought together only to give more punch to the show but Rollo did became first ruler of a new territory (Normandy year 911), a word meaning land of the norsemen, he got lands, riches and a princess in exchange for protecting northern France, ironically one of his descendants, William the Conqueror, did become King of England :)
Rollo is the better known of all Vikings since many artifacts about him can still be seen in France including the written agreement he made with the french emperor.
So the least they can do in this show to keep some historical integrity is to make Rollo and many of his kinsmen, protectors of France.

My GF forced me to watch first few episodes and now I am addicted to it. 3rd season I watched thru without break. I hope there will be more seasons of vikings than fast and furious movies.

Game of Thrones season 5 was utter crap, especially in comparison to Vikings season 3. Any season of GoT before season 5 though and GoT wins.

doxide The show has taken enormous liberty with the legendary and historical background of several characters. Perhaps they show a little pity to Gisla. She sure made a favorable impression in S3.

Way better than GoT. I love GoT but I'm getting tired of too much twists and mind games and gossips. Vikings is more straight to the point. More action unlike GoT. Less nudity. Women are a lot more empowered. This is just my opinion 😅

Rollo won't betray Ragnar again. He's just pulling a huge ploy, so that he's in a better position to attack Paris when Ragnar returns.

Series is based upon Ragnar's friend the priests journals,now that he's dead I don't know where the story will go.I haven't checked but that entrance in the Parisian cathedral at the end of the season seemed such a dumb scene to me.I know he wanted to see inside of the church but why kill the cardinal?It's worst scene of the season,just makes no sense,I can't see that being accurate.

The house of Normandy really became the royal family of England but they lost the throne for House of Blois and they lost for House of Anjou, and and since then they have spent many houses for the throne of England, for example the Houses of Plantagenet, Lancaster, York, Tudor and Stuart, until the current house get to the power, the current house descents from the Belgian royal family.
The House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, wich have the name changed by George IV to House of Windsor in WW1 because the name was too germany.
So Queen Elizabeth, Charles, William and Harry can't trace their lines directly to Rollo.
Pedro Vitor Actually the Plantagenets, the Tudors, the Stuarts and the Hanovers all have some blood connection. It's not much, distant cousins and all that whatnot but a blood connection is still a blood connection. So yes the Windsor's can trace their lineage back to Rollo.

I think 3-rd was best so far,finally story is spread out and we see it developing on few more locations,new actors and episodes seem to have bigger budget.I also like that in next season we are finally out of that Scandinavian dark winter landscape into a spring.
***** Naa, third season was good in the french stuff nearly at the end, but there are some weird moments that i don't really like. Season 2, or 1, were better in my opinion.

Dan Lodder Björn Ironside is one of the great Viking heroes and he will shine. Actually, Ragnar's undoing will begin when he starts to jelous his sons' fame.
Miraç Bayrak Ragnar does die, but I'm not sure how faithful the TV show will remain to the Volsunga saga.

So the creator of the show said he wants to have Ragnar die and soon... He wants to jump forward in time as well. If this happens I don't think I will continue watching. The other characters are alright but they are just supporting characters this show started with and should end with Ragnar.
Who else knew Ragnar wasn't dead? The king of northumbria kills him by having him thrown in a pit of snakes, then his sons avenge him, i guess thats season 5 though

There was definitely a huge influence of icelandic but Norwegian was the skeleton of the launauge most historians agree. Iceland has almost been intirely seperate from Vikings and have always had a seperate less Germanic dialect.
