I like that that Charlie still acknowledges the Georgia Satelites. One of the greatest bands ever.
Went to school with Charlie in the 80s at a little Christian school in Alabama. He was several years younger but everbody, including us older kids, loved him. He was such a cool kid who wore a flat top back then and we all loved to rub it. Bubba Lewis is still kicking it around here. His wife is my Mail Lady. Those were some good days to grow up.
This was a great episode! Charlie and the rest of the band are such great people! I had the opportunity to meet them at a few meet and greets over the years. The most memorable was when they opened up for Zac Brown at Madison Square Garden. I asked Brit Turner, their drummer at the time who has sadly passed away recently, how the soundcheck went and how the room sounded. He said "well, you can tell me later"...I asked where they were going to be after the show and he said The Cutting Room. So after the show my wife and I made our way to the Cutting Room and were lucky enough to get there before the velvet rope went up and somehow we talked our way inside.. Maybe they thought we were industry people LOL! Anyway we made to the back room where they had stage set up and Blackberry Smoke and the Zac Brown band played till 3am in the morning...It was one of the greatest live music experiences ever...Seeing that level of talent up close was amazing!
Kylie is the most charming girl on RUclips.
I mean, she's so so......everything!
Love this show. Thanks for sharing, Kylie.
well thats always lovely to hear thank you! x
Charlie Starr is such a killer musician! Been looking forward to this!
I really Like Starr he is just down to earth and humble and he can talk about so many different things...
I just saw Blackberry Smoke at the Ryman. They just keep getting better!
Greatest Musicians I have ever heard and seen.
Absolutely Outstanding
Human Beings
They have very good hearts. Always looking out for their fellow humans. Always respectful and always always make time for their fans, friends and family.
They always spread positivity everywhere they go.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I never told this story... In music circles in WNy and Pa my name is BFG, and that is since 1971. I was 'struggling' into a bar we were going to play. I had a Fender Twin w/JBL's and a mic stand under one arm, then 3 guitars (2 in a double case) under my other arm. I was also 6 foot 4 and just short of 400lbs. The place was packed, and the bartender, who I knew well, shouted at the top of his lungs " Big Fucking Gary"!!! That was it!! For the last 53 years I've also been "BFG", I answer to it like any other name! When Gibbons started using it, I thought oh no! But it's never been a problem!! Cheers.... Peace, bfg
Man, if you can carry a Fender Twin Reverb under one arm you deserve that name, they way a tonne.
@@jonathansteadman7935 The JBL's made it weigh ~100lbs!! I was a big boy!! Today I'm 72 years old, I shrunk, 6.0 and 190lbs! LOL Dr's orders! Still playing gigs, just not as many. Peace bfg
Such a Geniune cool dude. Wish it was an hour or more!
I know, becuse it was made for TV I had to keep it short but could have made it much longer... Maybe with season 2!
one of the best series about guitar players! continue on!
Thank you Dave... there is more to come so you are in for a treat! ko x
First time hearing of Charlie or this music. Great voice, tunes atmosphere!
Seem I hear a lot of musicians are not athletic but gifted musically. I’m on the opposite side were I was gifted athletic abilities and artistic abilities but could not sing and I was born tone deaf. I am thankful for music artists that bring so much joy by their voices, writing skills and strumming.
I came to a sort of realization while watching the video. Anytime a video with Charlie shows up on my RUclips, I always click immediately, sit and watch it until end. Why?? It's him,I really dig the dude he is. How he treats others and most importantly his respect for peers and the people he gets inspiration from. Also, lol,I am a total Guitar Nerd and I could literally make your ears smoke from inside out talking about Guitars and Gear.
I totally agree with you about Charlie... he is one of the coolest and nicest guys on the planet!
Great interview, Charlie is one of the best. I discovered BBS at the beginning of Covid. I heard Waiting for the Thunder being played as some bumper music on one of the local radio stations.
Charlie Starr is a true country rock star.
One of the best episodes! Charlie makes everyone feels like old friends!
He does I agree... pleased you enjoyed it too.
Another great one Kylie.
Enjoyable slice of musical stuff . Bonus acoustic jam at the end , cheers , might get a song out of it 🎸
Totally loved this episode Kylie. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ lovely conversation, very well edited. Can’t wait for the next one !
Thank you! I loved this one too... Charlie is so chillled and naturally talent... Mind you, they are all bloody naturally talented.
Saw Blackberry Smoke at HOB Boston. Their live guitar sounds were maybe the best I've ever heard
Great interview. Just so you know Vinyl was never not being pressed. Ot was not a popular but never stopped.
Kylie Olsson and Charlie Starr and LISS.. Once again a great and interesting episode of my favorite music show.. Thank You!! ❤🎸xx
Thank you M... I loved hanging with Charlie as he is such a cool dude. x
Yes, very cool..👍👍@@KylieOlsson
Love this series
I love this stuff Kylie.........Charlie is a bad ass, don't let him fool ya. I've been a Blackberry Smoker for probably 12 years now. I've seen em twice and the last time was in the HOB in Lake Buena Vista FL on new years eve 2019/2020.......Bishop Gunn opened the show and the hole thing was amazing.
ah thank you... they are an incredible band and lovely bunch of people.
This is so special!
Gotta love Charlie and the fellas!!
Great Interview! Really like Charlie’s demeanor and his humbleness. It’s not easy being a traveling 🧳 musician and raise a family. Lot of sacrifices. Thank goodness 😅 his wife has been patient all these years. I am relatively a new fan of Blackberry Smoke 💨 and wish them all the best going forward into the future.
Freakn awesome!!!!
That was great
All your show are so beautiful it hard for me to pick my favorite one. I like them all. Keep up the good work and don't forget to do a show with Earl slick. Your fan Marty.
Thank you so much Marty! xx
another banger -thanks Kylie
ah thank you...
Iam 68 been a rock and blues and country fan my whole life and music has played a big roll in my life. Of the list of musicians/ song writers i would love to meet and hang out with for a while Charlie is at the top.
He really is a great hang as such a natural talented musician,,, he makes it all look so easy!
1984 was the end of Van Halen for the generation that first discovered them.
Charlie is a Southern gentleman. So glad he always gives the Georgia Sattelites a name check. Their Faces style Rock n Roll seem to get forgotten, Rick Richards was a great guitarist, and Dan Baird is a great singer/ songwriter, even his solo stuff. .....Great Interview !
Thank you Jonathan... Kylie x
@kylieolsson I'd love to see you do an episode with Brian head Welch and munky of Korn. They play 7 string guitars. I feel like that's a missing piece to the channel. It would be epic to do one with them .
When i went to concerts in the 70s everyone was my age,I saw Willy Nelson last year and everyone is still my age More handicap seating please LMAO!!
Knew very little about Charlie, but that was a great introduction to him, seems like a lovely guy, will go and find out more about his music. Thanks again for another relaxed and natural chat.
But..... when are you meeting Brian May?!
Great video!
❤❤❤
He has a nice orderly home very well un rock n roll
A fun interview. I was hoping for more guitar talk. BTW, I was fortunate to have bought one of the Charlie Starr signature guitars that I now want to sell. Reply if you are interested.
thank you Steve... I'll go for more guitar chats maybe in season 2 xx
I was referring to the section were he mentions quitting drinking... around age 31. Partially because as he and his partner couldn't live that way...
It's good to see Charlie gives Rick Richards credit when it's due
Never heard of these guys.
What picture is on Charlie’s wall in the beginning
A young Mick Jagger in a hat.
The Mick Jagger picture?
Repeat ?
The Allman Brothers were not from Georgia!!! FLORIDA.
I love bbs but when Charlie chose Keith over SRV ........... ...
Blues Grass Player? Its Bluegrass 😂
Charlie seems like such an easygoing guy.
But did I hear that right he "was 31" and she was "18 years younger"!?
Im sure there's a mistake there somewhere.
yes defo a mistake! Both of us are older than that 🤣
31 is when he stopped “partying”
Stevie Ray Vaughan or Keith?
STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN ALL THE FUCKN WAY! NO contest!😎
MLK Jr was a shitty guitar player… Maybe leave him out of any Southern rock discussion…
