I'm looking at a 337 that looks to have the same leak. When you shined the light up from the bottom , that same hose looks exactly the same. I didn't think it would be so simple. Thank you. God bless you
I'm getting ready to go on a leak hunt on my 331....It's somewhere near right were yours was. I hope I find something similar and not have to replace or rebuild the motor. Thanks for the video!
tks for this... misa machina just sprung a leak today (again) only 2000 hours and already three leaks and up 2 were loose fittings , one hose... i guess i will be a belly hunting it tomorrow
Great video and talk through, really helpful. I have a 322D digger with a slightly different problem. Your video has been a great help, thank you so much. Also, I hope you will not be offended, but you have an incredible voice, reminds me of the late, Johnny Cash, keep up the good work👍👍👍🤓🏴🏴
Outstanding documentation of the troubleshoot and repair of this Excavator. For future reference, please don't test the hydraulic line for leaks with the finger method @ 9:03. Thank you. Stay best! 😁
Thanks for the comment. I know very well about high pressure hydraulic leaks piercing skin but just a dribble from idle circulation is not at all the case or any threat. Thanks for watching.
That's a common problem with lock nuts. I actually would have replaced the o-ring behind it. It's probably not damaged but I change them anyway. That's a 3/8 oring boss port and loosening is really common with the smaller sizes. I hope you hit the rest of those locknuts with a wrench.
Those fittings are not intended to swivel. They are designed simply be adjustable for positioning and then tightened. Plus they're cheaper for the mfg to use than an actual 90 degree fitting on a hose. another reason is that it's a tighter 90 which saves room.
Most of the time on those smaller units it ends up being a loose hose. Yours was pretty clean. Pulled some of those belly pans off to have dirt, oil, grease stacked more than six inches deep. I always cringe starting work on one of them though. All the same lines and such as a large machine (which is tight to begin with) packed in that small footprint.
Thank you Gordon, great work, my Hitachi EX50urg has been a very sweet little digger, until last week's deep freeze, l did not warm it long enough, while turning, the top part of center joint was so stiff , twisted the hoses and broke one, leaked 25 ltr of fluid. l ll wait a warm day to work on it.
...And Then....there's the rotating fitting for a big crane.....12-16 hoses and real tight access....swivel units are sometimes mounted with just 4 chains holding them.....hard to get good torque on wrenches with that moving around....lots of 1"-2" inch hoses and fittings.....
All of these types of machines will leak sometime, the repairs are the same on any of them, it's just finding the source and gaining access to it. Thanks for watching.
looks like you lucked out with that one. From viewing some of your videos it looks like you guys have alot of rust to fight ,is that from salt on the roads? being on the west coast we never see anything like that. metal parts here last for years and come apart fairly easy.
Yes we do have a lot of salt in the winter here in the St. Louis area, but that is not the main reason my stuff in rusted, I love tools, machines and vehicles, and can't afford late model equipment so I buy used, old and damaged, thus the repair videos. Thank you for the comment.
That unchartered territory for you -- the digger belly pan -- is apparently where I have to go to sell out a burst drive hose; they're only accessible from underneath and I need a crowsfoot (not a Indian tribe!) spanner. Why can't s.o. invent a release valve on a connector so you'd only lose a bit of oil? This is like electrics without fuses. Stone age. FJB.
I have a 331 mini excavator it has a inclosed hydraulic system it has air in the system it dont have any hydraulic leeks so i dont no where the air is comming from and dont no how to get it out,i have bleed out the cylinders i get most of the air out of the blade cylinder, can anyone help me,thanks
Try to check your hydralic return filter inside your hydraulic tank if its dirty it will ristrict oil to enter the pump and because of the pump preasure it sucks air from intake hoses hope it would help you
Great video, thanks! Takes patience to work on these little machines. Hope you're doing well, sir!

I hope that fixed it for you. Thanks for watching Paul.

Thanks for sharing. We have a 331x it looks about the same vintage. It was used hard when we got it, so it’s always springing a leak. 👍🏼
What he is calling the hydraulic turning motor is actually the swivel joint. The hydraulic turning motor is next to the swivel joint towards the back.
tks for this... misa machina just sprung a leak today (again) only 2000 hours and already three leaks and up 2 were loose fittings , one hose... i guess i will be a belly hunting it tomorrow
I hope it goes well for you.
Great video....excellent camera work and clear explanation!

Awesome video hope your still doing well,I know it was 3 years ago but thank you sir, I learned a lot hope your still doing videos
that is the swivel, the turntable motor is behind it.

Thanks for showing the repair. I have an E35, so similar I assume

I can now fix my 320! Thanks for the video. excellent!!!
Thank you sir, glad to hear that it helps.

Large machines sure look like they would offer more room to work on them but I've found no difference for accessibility, only heavier parts.

Awesome video! I may be buying my first mini excavator soon! I gotta start somewhere, and not too heavy so I can put in a 16'trailer.
Sir, Thank You!
That's how you find leaks, Thanks for the video!
Thank You Sir.
Have you ever replaced the air filter on your machine?
If so where do you ship for it Gordon?

Thank you for posting this9 video. I am thinking about buying a 331 that is leaking oil.

Jeez the access seems pretty good on that, and no parts needed.
Access was good once I found out where to look, no parts even better since I just spent over $900.00 the week before on 2 other leaks.
Gordon Robertson you should try ripping the hydraulic lines off of a telescopic loader
I would like to try, I like a challenge.
Hydraulic die detector with a black light works amazing for all the leaks.
Forgot the name brand I use but kinda pricey.....
Got a leak on my 331 just like that on the hydralic motor, I'm hoping its something simple like this one
I now have the same problem with the same digger did you do it
do what?

Was that tee leaking the 2 speed hoses or the return from final drive?
That was very lucky - did you buy that new or used - no cost
used
How many hours are on that excavator?
I don't know, I think it had 1600+ when I got it about 9 years ago, it must have over 2000 to 2400 by now.
good job but a lot of work ,goes that way sometimes in life.
Thanks for watching

Great job
