Where do I start......In 1977 I had summer season as a keyboard player in Hastings.Apart from backing cabaret most evenings, one night it was especially for a charity.Jack Howarth was there(Albert Tatlock from Corrie),Bill Maynard and Lesley Crowther. He was such a charming man.Over the next few years,I worked with Mike Reid, Bernard Manning,Frank Carson,Jim Bowen and many many others.Carol Lee Scott was lovely, superb cabaret act.In the late 80's in a theatre in Northampton,Shane Richie who we knew and Jeremy Beadle.Great memories.
How quickly time passes. It doesn't seem long since these people appeared on TV and yet some of them would be almost 100 years old now and by contrast, some died realatively young. When Tony Hart died, hardly any mention was made but then, years later, there was much dismay when it was revealed. He seemed a lovely gentle and very talented man. Thank you for reminding us of our youthful heroes.
I spoke to Caron Keating as a teenager in London down visiting my dad from Scotland, on a radio show and I won some books on it, what a lovely woman she was to talk to!!! God bless 😞❤️
I remember being shocked and saddened reading about Mark Speight. After his fiancée's death, he couldn't bear the thought of life without her and very sadly took his own life 😥
Great video why is it when you get older you remember more of the stars of the past than today to be honest if someone says such and such has died i have to look them up or haven't a clue who they are
Yeah , its because he lost his beloved girlfriend to suicide too , hence he couldn't live without her , i remember him saying his last words about her was that she was his " best friend and soulmate wrapped into one " as he put it , then want through with the suicide , such sad news when i heard about his passing , Mark i always loved seeing you and your girlfriend on See-It-Saw-It and on your CBBC show SmART , growing up as a kid , R.I.P. Mark
I understand more now but at the time I didn't get how someone who had seemed so talented and had achieved so much could just end their life so tragically. Rest in peace Mark. We will never forget you. Your talent and artistic flair will always be inspirational 🌹
The Mark Speight situation will live in my memory for a long time, starting from the death of his partner, Mark going missing, his death and the careful announcement the producers had to make that day to their young audience.....
Helen Rollason presented on the BBC News too. It was Breakfast News from which I first knew her - initially thought I heard 'Robinson' instead of 'Rollason'. Such she was one of the people who didn't make it to the next Millennium. This is the most tragic of deaths, especially rather young.
When Rod Hull died Emu did a few shows, appearing on Parkinson and the two Ronnie's.He also had a cameo on Springwatch at the rspb reserve at Snettisham playing himself for three episodes. In the 2000s, however, Emu found work hard to find,he was typecast Today he works as a dental technician in Cleethorpes with his live in partner Barry. They enjoy horse riding, dogging and collecting Faberge eggs encrusted in rubies and diamonds.Emu still dreams of stardom and still remembers his adorable sidekick MrHull..
I have seen Georgina Hale in many acting roles over the years on TV and on dvd, she was a very versatile actress, she could do comedy and crime drama very well, she did a very funny episode of One Foot In The Grave when she played the co-owner of a slightly posh but starting to be run down seaside B&B where Victor and Margaret stayed for a long weekend. and in a several episode run of The Bill she is in top form as the widow of a East end crime boss who now controls his old territory and both sides of his business, and the funny thing is she is very believable as the older ruthless woman who might have murdered her crimeboss husband. Mike Read was another very versatile actor and his star turns as Frank Butcher in Eastenders are very memorable. Also The Chuckle Brothers tv series Chucklevision was and still will be loved by many generations as it was well performed and harmless physical and visual comedy with no 'message' and the two main stars were the ones writing the sketches and coming up with the ideas
So sad. Worrying tho that a lot of the BBC presenters died of Cancer, as did a few other BBC staff not shown here. Example - Flick Colby from Pans People. Was/is there something at Television Centre we aren't being told about?
I can remember so many of those children's TV presenters from my childhood growing up in the 1970s & 80s featured. Happy memories.
Thank you to all of you who made my childhood a better place growing up gone but certainly not forgotten.
This makes me sad not just for the loss of such wonderful people, but for the loss of our wonderful culture and country.
I know exactly what you mean. Very sad, but brings nostalgic memories flooding back.

I always remember and think of Tony Hart every time a new Wallace and grommit film is released.

Bless them all I remember them early eighties and I will never forget them
I remember the majority of them, so sad to think they're gone but what joy they brought to our childhoods in the 70s and 80s
I remember being shocked and saddened reading about Mark Speight. After his fiancée's death, he couldn't bear the thought of life without her and

Life is short, live it in the same spirit as these people did.
OMG, a few i didnt even know had died 😢
I met grotbags a few times in sainsburys, she was such a nice lady.
I loved watching Animal Magic ❤
The joy they brought, RIP all
Jeremy beadle was also in beadles about i remember pretty much all of ttese presenters fond memories growing up in 70s and 80s.
@MegJenkins I seem to remember (circa 1983) he did present a kids show about the great inventions called 'Eureka!'
As a kid i remember seeing grotbags turning on the chesterfield christmas lights that had to be in the 80s.😊
Roy Castle Actor & Musician. Appeared in Carry on up the Khyber, The Plank, Dr Terror Of Horror, Etc. Theres so many from Blue Peter 🙏🙏

People used to be around a lot longer in the old days, or so it seemed.
I remember being gutted about Mark speight. So sad

I remember reading reports they were both high on drugs and she overdosed. So very very sad.

Rod hull fell off his roof readjusting his tv aerial
Hard to adjust your aerial and hold on to roof tiles with your hand up an Emu.
@ don’t be daft emu was footing the ladder, that was rods biggest mistake
@@gregorypeck876 😂
Apparently, there was someone at the door but in a rush to get down he fell
@@Rts22375 grot bags had it in for him from the get go

And most off them worked for the BBC the same time as there fellow childrens presenter Jimmy Saville. I would bet my life they all knew!

How could a gorgeous guy like Mark Speight be allowed to commit suicide? So sad to learn about that.
So if he was an ugly it wouldn’t matter ?
He blamed himself for his girlfriend’s death. She drowned. If you read up on it it’s pretty sad.
All very sad . Especially to mark . Who did smart. 😢. Took his own life ☹️
I don't remember Max Stahl ever presenting Blue Peter....
He was also known as Christopher Wenner if that helps
Mark speight always reminds me of lex luger from wcw
I remember when he had some Wrestlers on the show called Scratchy & Co shame they never had Lex Luger on, so he would meet his small twin 🤣
Sad❤❤❤
Grotbags scared me when I was younger

I'm surprised you didn't say that Rod Hull died after falling off his roof trying to adjust his tv ariel.
Mike reed ? Runaround? Umm east Enders ? 😂
Very lazily made, could have put documentary to it and clips.
Not even any morbid music to accompany it...I thought there's something wrong with my phone.
Where's Sir Jimmy and Sir Rolf?
They were a DIFFERENT kind of children's entertainers.
Lol I was thinking the same thing
@@MiniOilSlyk Like partners in crime. They were.
Not going to add 2 of the most prolific predators onto the list are they, duh!! 🙄
