Nice WRX man! Right now I’m looking into buying a Subaru here soon but don’t think I’m going to buy the Sti when I can buy a wrx and build it the way I want and come out cheaper then spending 6-8k more to get an Sti
Yeah man! Just depends on long term goals you have for the car and what you would like. WRX cars can be really fun and awesome to have and build for sure

starsckyy hey! So far it’s going alright because I am very cautious when driving mostly and try being quiet. So far it’s been pretty reliable for me not too many issues. I’ll make a video about it in future
Anyone who can answer this would be appreciated: does there come a point in time where adding more airflow and intake/exhaust improvements becomes redundant? You got a turbo, an intake, intercooler and better radiator to keep air more dense, you have the advanced headers and down pipe and charge pipe and all that, but at the end of the day the displacement is the same. The turbo obviously produces the biggest advantage because it’s compressing the air so much, so beyond that, where does the value of increased flow start to diminish? Or does it? Am I looking at it wrong? There are other benefits with exhaust and turbo sounds that I get, but I’m curious from an engineering perspective where some of these mods might be redundant when it comes to increasing power. Great video. Thanks.
Nathan Adams Cars Thank you for watching the video! I am not an expert and master when it comes to this but YES these SUBARU WRXs vehicles come with a small and very minimum output turbo from factory. The issue with simply adding a bigger turbo or forcing more air in is pressure on engine, internals, etc. the more pressure or air being forced the more it needs to be able to handle it. If I want to be able to bench more weight I need to be stronger so I can withstand the weight. These cars usually when you get to over 400 RWHP you need to build the bottom end or else car will Blow. With these mods. The extra inflow isn’t wasted and is all increasing. With these mods you are basically allowing the ability to have more airflow come into car naturally (less reduced airflow, less muffler style elements, etc). So performance doesn’t plateau. It’s not these mods that plateau power they will increase regardless, its the turbo and fuel system that limits power on these cars. These mods plus e85 is the max you can usually run without having a built bottom end. Hope this helps. Again I’m not an expert and not trying to say I’m the say it all. However from what I have read and experience this seems to be what I found out
Hey noob question, since you live in Cali do you run into issues with your mods and passing inspection? They are not an issue where I’m from but I hear they are hella strict out there
I’ve never had a visual inspection on any car in Cali. Most smog places don’t have awd dynos so that gets exempt. As long as you don’t have lights on the dash and spewing smoke it’s fairly simple to pass. The last smog I got was on an 02 wrx with straight header back open piping. Passed like a champ.
Michael Matta catback keeps warranty and a jpipe or down pipe needs a tune with car. So I would start with catback and when you plan on tuning and having more mods then add
wait so would i have to get a new block or pistons or can the engine handle this power? or will i need a tune? im trying to learn more about subies and stuff because i got an ‘08 sti in febuary. its got an ej257.
Congrats!!! Hmmm the EJ and FA are a little different but for most part. I’d drive right and maintenance, the FA can be around 400HP. I believe EJ is quite a bit but ringland failure and rod knock can happen whenever kind of like the Xbox 360 red ring. But the EJ can handle a bit but honestly usually under 400 is okay I think
But can you pass emissions? Here in Colorado we have a 7 year rule which means if the car is 7 year or newer you are emissions exempt. That being said, I would only have 2 years till im due for emissions. So, will it pass?
A tune is required with these. Some you don't need a tune but they won't function correctly fully or you won't have the gains you would want without one. Only things like a radiator and a axle back exhaust For sure don;t need a tune but everything else it is better to get a tune
Carter Chi my tuner showed my how to monitor the car a bit with it. To gauge ethanol and if you running rich or running lean. Also just have to monitor how much you put in at gas stations as well too
