awesome videos. I'd love one where you explain how to tune the bridles and pigtails. For instance if you have set up your bar lines correctly but how do you need to setup the bridles/pigtails so that the kite flies properly. I'd love that :)
Thanks Michael. I do have a video about depower, trim straps and the connection points for your lines. That should cover some of what you ask. It doesn't cover the various bridle adjustments - as I'd usually leave these as standard generally. Maybe I'll have time to make a video or article about that some time. ruclips.net/video/PsmYq4_qtuU/видео.html There's also a video about stalling caused by using too much angle of attack: ruclips.net/video/JKAy9Yy9saI/видео.html All the best, Alex
Thank you this was very helpful. I managed to install my new lines and tune a Kite. I had to fly it in lite wind to gauge its flight. I was wondering if you can tune a kite before flying it, for instance you can make you lines the same lengths to start with but then for pigtails adjustment it seems like you have to fly and test.
Brilliant tutorial! 👍🏼😎 I like your technique for stretching the line by connecting to the harness hook, and not pull on the bar directly ( as some suppliers propose). Only practical issue for me where I don’t have a good solution for is to remove the puigtails from the lines before connecting them to a central point. The nodes between the lines and pigtails are mostly very tight are and virtually impossible to open.
Kite-Surf-College Tutorials and Tricks Thanks for your feedback! I’m using cable ties or a shoelace that I’m moving through the pigtail loop that’s connected to the lines. A little bit a MacGyver technique but it works for me...😄🏄🏽♂️🦇
Hi Alex. Great tutorial! Is it necessary to remove pigtails on a new Core bar when trimming? I think the pigtails on steering and frontlines have different lengths?
Always line up the line ends , the sheaths can be different lengths so always match the ends for functionally correct lengths. Sheaths are often 5mm different
0:35 Could you do a tutorial about when it's different? (I have older gear)... Maybe with C-kites it's different? How much? Or only certain types/brands have that? What to do in that situation? Can we try and feel while flying? How to analyze the needs for a perfect setup? Best regards, Max
Is it ok to tune with the pigtails attached to a carabiner or do you need to remove the pigtails? All of my CORE Bars won't pull to the stopper 1 to 2 inches before the stopper. Thank you for all of your awesome videos!!
Good tutorial as always but methinks, as I've been taught lately, the center lines shouldn't be under tension, they have to be a bit loose, hanging freely so if one line is longer than the other it will hang lower, which will be harder to notice if they are pulled hard and under tension...keep up the great work!
Great tutorial! I use a core 2s pro bar and lines too and my wife has the 2s bar. I played around with both of them and have a really puzzling question: When I adjust the clam cleat further down toward bar (so wifes short arms can reach the bar) will I still need to adjust the back lines accordingly? I dont believe I need to due to the setup of this particular bar and how the lines go through a 'Y' shape. I'm unsure if its safe to do this as the ability of depower will be reduced. Any advice on this would be much appreciated!
Hey. Great video! But while doing it notice missing info. So, when you compare the 4 lines, where should the trim goes? Like fully powered, fully depowered, in between? Thank you!
Hi guys, does anybody knows why North kiteboarding recommends a 2cm gap between the bar and the chicken loop on their RUclips channel? I own a North Orbit 2020 10mt.
That should never be the case. However, it is easier to add an extension to the steering lines than shorten the center lines. Shortening would require unstitching the pigtails, moving the sheath, and re-stitching.
@@kitesurfcollege ok thank you. I was thinking the same not finding any way to make it proper. Over time, for some reason my front lines keep extending and I need to undo nodes on the steering line to compensate every 10 to 15 sessions roughly. Is it normal?
@@BenoitThailand Yes, that's normal with older equipment. Keep stretching your steering lines to match the center lines. That's the best option. If that doesn't work then extend the steering lines. At that point, however, it's not long until one of your lines will break.
@@kitesurfcollege ok thank you. You mean, extend the steering lines with extensions until one of the front lines break? Then once broken, you recommend change the whole set right? Thank you again. Regards.

I'm so glad you explained this. My bar manual does such a vague job explaining this important process.
Well, you fixed one of my problems anyway! Now if you could just fly over to the states and correct my bad habits. Thanks for another great video.
What a crucial video!
Thanks a lot!
This is by far one of the best videos for kitesurfing. Thank you guys so much you’re doing awesome work 👍👍👍🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙✌️
Getting into the sport, i bought used gear and had miserable attempts. Thank you for this info!!! Lifesaver!
Hi !! It's always a good thing to buy something that's brand new & keep it until your good , like a new brand bar nd lines cheers
I've got loads of old shit ..
It works ! My moto is why buy a. Brand new car if your going to crash it !!
Very useful. Thumbs up guys. Keep the tutorials coming. We love them.
Brilliant tutorial as usual, very clear 👍👍

Did you find a solution? If you can't remove the pigtails, maybe you need to attach some loops and knots to your anchor.

Hi, fully powered. So center lines fully extended or steering lines fully shortened.
Is the process of 5th line exactly the same ?
Would be interesting. My 5th line is much shorter than the frontlines
I’ve done this made sure lines are of same length and i have to crank hard on bar to get kite turning.
Hi guys, does anybody knows why North kiteboarding recommends a 2cm gap between the bar and the chicken loop on their RUclips channel? I own a North Orbit 2020 10mt.
What if we are at the maximum length possible on the steering lines? Is there a way to reduce the length of the front lines?
That should never be the case. However, it is easier to add an extension to the steering lines than shorten the center lines. Shortening would require unstitching the pigtails, moving the sheath, and re-stitching.

Yess thx so muchhh😍
I thought most bars/lines have outer lines with loops and center with knots?
Yes, the first bar does have loop ends on steering lines and knot ends on center lines. So we took off all the pigtails to fit them on the anchor.
Do I understand correctly?
The bar needs to be trimmed to max power, and with the bar in completely, the lines should be equal length?
Hi Tom, yes that's the case for most bars.
Ok. Thanks a lot! :)

Good stuff but lines can only be taut not taught. ;)
Barbanding knot
what knot? to shorten a line?
Crappy line set if you can stretch so easily.
