@@anistardi Not every member has to be at the level of the main vocalist to meaningfully contribute though. I think the main point of this video is how well trained their ears are. So many groups from other companies don’t do any harmonies, or very minimal/simple ones if they do, because only their set vocal positions can hold a tune. With SM groups, most members have some singing ability and most seem to have a good understanding of music itself, which enables them to have a lot more depth in their songs through harmonies and through most or all members being able to sing the chorus.

Even if there are more, Kyuhyun is skilled, gifted and, on top of that, he knows his limits well enough not to push it and risking both embarrassing himself and damaging his vocal. He faced the possibility (even if in retrospective as he was unconscious at the time) of losing his voice and never singing again. He won't do anything to ruin it.

Alot of kpop idols can sing but very few sing with support. Most SM vocalists have very good vocal support that have been developed since training days while the dancers & rappers are taught breathing techniques to support their vocals. And perhaps the best testament to SM's focus on vocals is the continued vocal lessons even after debut. A good vocal support & singing technique is what allow you to deliver a great song and to sing for years with minimal wear & tear on your vocal chords. Another aspect I appreciate about SM's vocal program is the emphasis on harmonization. Each & every group from them can harmonize well. You don't just sing but you sing WITH your group. And don't even get me started on the vocal layering. Top notch 👌. No one does vocal layering as well as SM I swear. Alot of singers can sing but very few know how to sing correctly. Most of those few are SM vocalists.
That's why I love SM Artists! They are very talented and know what they are doing. Eventhough the company is not that good atleast the training is good

i hope sm’s vocal coaches are being paid VERY well because even the “worst” sm singers are at the very least above average. idols who used to have very little lines can have a high note line after years of training. taemin recently hit jonghyun’s high note in lucifer live and that made me soooo proud and also amazed because he went from having barely any lines to a successful soloist and a great vocalist
I mean, Taemin was covering that note for a decade and a half by now, ever since Jonghyun had to skip the Lucifer performance for the first time. And he was getting better and better with it and was covering it well for literal years.
